Those 10 people are more important to the game than someone whinging that “this buff I can turn off is ruining my game”.
Could be that Wednesdayz - 13 Priest, Santapwn - 4 Warrior and Freetate - 23 Rogue (now offline since New Years Eve) are more important than a player and a gameplay that took WoW and Classic to where it is now. But then again, perhaps not.
Some would argue that granting new players this buff takes away from their first time experience. I wouldn’t want my first 1-60, 70 and 80 ruined by a rush mentality, especially if I payed for a 20 year old game.
The buff perhaps was best “hidden” for the experienced but tired “levelers of old”, ever crying in this forum.
But what do I know.
You wouldn’t want your first foray into an MMO be an entirely solo boring questing experience either, yet here we are.
The anti JJ’s in this thread are quite literally whining about having an icon on their buff bar at this point.
And from my perspective JJ doesn’t change much. Hell at times it did make things worse for me since quests in Azeroth zones are more often than not tied to one another and more than handful of times I had to pick grey quests in order to progress the chain and unlock even more quests in the future. Meaning I was still doing “boring questing experience” except some of that awarded next to no exp.
Frankly looking back at all of that on my main account I’ve seen more of Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms than I did of Outlands and Northrend combined. Thanks to EXP squish and decent sized groups running starting outlands dungeons I’ve only really explored the starting zone while in Northrend I reached max level without ever touching Storm Peaks, Grizzly Hills, the Troll Zone and ICC while still leaving a portion of Boreal Tundra unfinished.
And redoing things with a decent guide I did really start to enjoy my journey through Azeroth since ultimately yes part of the charm is that travel which yes, will take time but ultimately feels more satisfying than my path through Northrend and Outlands.
Never once claimed it does.
What it does do is shorten the time period until you can get to play with actual people.
Even with the buff it still took a long time to level to 80.
So it’s a bandaid on an already flawed situation pushing people more and more into already toxic and “wrong” mindset resulting in burnout and realization if how shallow the game is.
Yes, JJ is 100% a bandaid.
The only way i leveled 2 new characters was thanks to JJ and heirlooms
Bandaid for what though? Stupid mentality that you need to rush, rush, rush and not dare to slow down? By that idea Cataclysm was a solution and we know how “beloved” reworked Azeroth is
For wanting to actually play an MMO with other people.
And why are people just in the end game? Oh right because as a community we pushed forward the belief that endgame is the only thing worth a scrap and we took all steps we could to ensure it’s true. From Boosting in older versions, through botting and ending up at trading gold for gearing up all we ever push is what awaits us at the end. Which frankly isn’t really much.
It’s like endgame is the promised land, like it’s amazing, when really it’s pretty much just sitting in a raid for 9-12+ hrs a week, getting annoyed with the always sad state of PvP, or grinding dailies for gold and/or rep…then getting bored and levelling an alt or playing a different game.
I’ve noticed that those wanting the buff use the “You’re supposed to be playing with other people that’s why it’s called a MMORPG” sort of line. But the MMO part more just means it’s a world with other people in it who are real and not NPCs; a RPG that feels like it’s alive even in a small way.
Because that’s what Blizzard has been pushing since TBC OG by making old content irrelevant.
Great so my memories of WoW weren’t wrong. And yet I still had more than enough fun leveling this toon.
And did JJ make that impossible?
Why do people act like you did one quest with the buff and got from 1 to 80? It’s still not a quick thing to get to 80, and wasn’t when the buff was active either. Yes it was faster but it still wasn’t quick.
The boost makes it much quicker.
It felt a bit disjointed to be fair. Playing as Draenei or Blood Elf you generally are expected to reach level 20-21 from your starter zones assuming you don’t leave them earlier. While not perfect it does insert itself decently into Zones from Vanilla (Hilsbrad, Barrens or Westfall from those I’m aware off) now with JJ i finished my Draenei starting zones at level 28 making the insert point much more complicated since as you know quests in vanilla often depend on one another. Took a bunch of grey quests and generous amount of skipping to get back on track. In other words it might be faster but the pace feels off.
Oh really? Because from the argumentation of people use to demand it getting back it was so fast and convenient that without it leveling is impossible.
It made it quicker, that’s all, it’s just slower now.
