UPDATE – This test is now taking place on October 21
Please join us for the WoW Forever Stress Test on October 21.
On that day, we will first take the WoW Forever Beta offline, and we will then open WoW Forever on the regional hardware that it will operate on when the game goes live.
On October 21, the Stress Test will begin at 19:00 CEST for players in the EU region, 2:00 p.m. PDT for players in the Americas+Oceania, and at 5:00 a.m. in Taipei and 6:00 a.m. in Korea on October 22.
Any player with a WoW account is eligible to participate. No active subscription is needed.
Once you’re in, make a character, do a few quests, trade some items, chat, and group up with others to really put the game through its paces. This is a highly valuable event, since you’ll participate in our discovering of issues that would have otherwise happened on launch day.
WoW Forever will be available on production realms for a few hours, and then when we shut down the Stress Test, all characters will be deleted* and we will re-open the Beta.
*This is a complete wipe; names and everything else will be completely removed.
Thank you very much for joining us. We’ll see you there!
Yep, and the issues with whispers/invites have been a couple of times, in nearly 6 weeks of up time.
Half the issue with lag is the connection to a US server, rather than regional…basically Kanon is complaining about things that were completely known to be expected in a test run.
complaining about a BETA having issues is next level delusion. WHAT DO YOU THINK HAPPENS ON A BETA BUILD OF A GAME?. YOU PLAY AND TEST AND REPORT THE ISSUES SO THEY CAN FIX IT. some people.. oh my god.
Its been made to look like the same graphics style but you only need to look at the water and weather effects to know the graphics is a whole new beast.
Theres a huge difference to copying something and adding to it, and creating something to resemble previous versions.
You’re discounting a lot they’ve changed. All class talents overhauled, all loot tables overhauled, 9 new dungeons, new zones, graphics upgrade, entirely new layering system to try and make sure you see the same people over and over.
There’s a lot fundamentally different in the game from standard classic… that’s bound to break some stuff.
You say everything will be wiped, does this include settings of UI? I wouldn’t mind logging in killing stuff and setting up UI, but shame if I do it just to be wiped again.
I disagree, the beta was mostly for gameplay and balance feedback from people invested enough into WoW to pay for the edition of WoW Forever that guarantees beta access, whilst the stress test is specifically to test how well regional servers can cope with the demand from people who want a smooth experience at launch which has the best chance of succeeding if anyone can participate.
I only just found out about this stress test. It would be nice to close the main beta and get everyone and their fishgold to get the stress test client installed. Because we all know how Blizzard can poorly handle launch days and the beta launch was a prime example.
