Exactly! And honestly, with all of the appearance altering toys, consumables and tier off-sets available, you can look like anything. This is a typical "but-we-had-this-in-place-for-15-years-and-it-worked" Blizz answer to things that have no reason to exist with their current tech, possibilities and community demand.

Edit: And especially now when they are moving from class based sets to content based, you can barely tell a priest from mage or rogue from monk. The current mog restrictions are just stupid.

Considering we have heritage sets that defy armor type restrictions and Blizzard put a priest (Anduin) in full plate wielding a sword, yeah, get rid of these ridiculous restrictions.

But Anduin is special because he is Goldens favorite pet! Tyrande and Velen are both Priest and very much wearing cloth! Except Tyrande gets to hold a glaive in next patch to... Moira wears Cloth to!

Thrall is an example of a Shaman wearing plate armor too. The point is, if Blizzard don't adhere to their own restrictions because it gets in the way of their storytelling, then why are they even in place.

Atleast the Plate sets look thematically different then the Mail, Leather and Cloth ones, but thats about it.

You stinkin' Highborne can wear the clothing and plate from Legion.

Continueity exists to enhance the story, not to tie the hands of the creators.

I wish they would add Ravencrests' armor, Rooksguard armor and their weapons to! Would fit the Highborne theme perfectly! And the older Kaldorei could dust their ancient armors off for the coming war!
Still hoping someone on the dev team sees sense and makes this available to non-DHs in a sensible way.

Obviously that is the main goal of this thread! Alot of people offered suggestions in this thread to, so they could even use that!

Or the simple old "Make it swords", which would be prefferable!
Guess I'll just comfort myself with the minor taste that is Chakrams talent and Archon Glaive mog until the end times of Azeroth, then.
Gorehowl is not a Wand, Ashbringer is not a Staff, Frostmourne isn't Fist Weapons...

...and the moonglaive is not a Demon Hunter's warglaive!

The 'we're maybe adding some different weapon shaders for this weapon' isn't really a solution. Why not just make it a type that can be used by most of the classes that would actually wield it?

And it creates a worrying thought for the future - what if similar racially themed weaponry will receive this treatment as well? Blood Elves not being able to use polearm and a shield together, Tauren totem weaponry becoming some absurd weapon type (Wand, because why not?). I'm not sure about any other distinct weaponry from Alliance, since surely Blizzard won't make hammers or swords not hammers or swords. Right?

"The Night Elf glaive is currently restricted to Demon Hunters, but a weapon will that silhouette may become available to other classes down the line."

From the Afrasiabi interview. Dunno if this was already shared here, didn't see it anywhere.
It was what I was referring to before. I'm just worried about the 'may' and what exactly the silhouettes entail? If it's like, the same weapon for all weapon types, then cool. All that I'm praying for is that the 'may' will become a reality.
they'll add the same weapon np

as part of the warfront rare rotation, 1 chance once every 4 weeks :)

it will also be a dagger

I'll slap them, then!

Also, Blizzard is mocking us!

It's clearly visible that "Huntresses" and "Sentinels" wear the glaive weapon!

Wow... yeah, that just proves their entire excuse is utterly pointless and stupid. Give other classes the glaive, for heaven sakes!

Man isn't it just crazy how many demon hunters are being deployed as Sentinels in darkshore? And all of them without their blindfolds and also now wearing mail sets and some wielding shields.

Just crazy.

Yea, really crazy how many Demon Hunters actually returned to Kaldorei-society! Seems the Horde forced them to change their tactics to!

I think it is not a good idea, because the glaives could be used by all other races, not only by night elves. Personally, i wouldn't like to see a human or a gnome armed with the most iconic NE weapon.

It would be great if the glaive will come to us with a heritage armour for all night elves. I know, Blizzard doesn't release heritage weapons for no one but nightbornes and i wonder, why? I mean, one-two more models - it shouldn't be so difficult, especially if we already have some of them.

Demon Hunters' glaives are too "twisted" and too big in my opinion, and sentinels/huntresses use the same models.

This glaive from the port of Stormwind:

Much better for my taste.

I know forums are going to be nuked soon and you might not get the chance to answer, but perchance you do...

Do you have a source on Nightborne getting released heritage weaponry?
Afaik, Blizzard was quite against heritage weaponry, even though race-locking and making cosmetic weaponry would be the easiest solution in my opinion.

I also agree, the current moonglaive is oversized, and the smaller ones would be better fit.
Thread is already too long, admittably didn't read much but I want to vent.

Blizz, remind us again, why do Night Elf sentinels in Darnassus and Darkshore for example carry a Moonglaive, if they're not even close to Demon Hunters? Unless warriors suddenly become able to wield warglaives similarly to Demon Hunters, I can't see much lore-friendly reason to do implement it like that.

Disappointed.

… Have you not heard? Demon hunters have been de-felified and currently make the core of Kaldorei army. Every warrior/hunter/priest/others Sentinel can finally retire to pursue their dreams, such as baking, innkeeping, repairs etc.

Yay!

Well, glaives in general ARE a kaldorei weapon. Sentinels have always wielded them - Illidan simply continued the trend.
