8.2 vengance how does it look?

Pretty new to vengance, i enjoy it but not sure what these changes mean. As i’ve read up its a buff… does it buff our survability or self healing?

In truth the new changes aren’t no where near to solve the main issue the spec has atm. But to answer your question, they redirected (nerfed) the mitigation from demon spikes to our passive mitigation instead. Meaning the class is SLIGHTLY tankier outside of DS. They also buffed and added additional function to metamorph. So yeah, they got a direct damage mitigation buff and an indirect healing buff. But to be clear, the passive changes are completely irrelevant for higher content. Meaning the spec is still in the garbage tier in comparison the forth coming Gaurdian and Warrior tank specs.

Nevertheless, the spec can still be useful depending on what the new m+ seasonal affix is. If the new affix has any sort of connection to their ability to purge magic effects, they will definitely rise in the “tier list”. The new essences also seem to cover some of their current issues in certain scenarios, but that also applies to the other tanks as well so…

It’s a very fun tank spec, I’ve given up on it though. Jump on a war/pally/DK and its laughable the difference. I mean on my pally…

3% less damage oer close mob, and 3% less damage per mob in consecration. That’s 30% on a normal pack.

As well as a 60k absorb shield (same as DH soul barrier), but with a 1/4 CD. Add in 60% block chance, that reduces damage 50% INCLUDING magic damage.

And pallys version of demon spikes, can be maintained 90%ish of the time. Giving me 18k armour. On my DH its like 33% of the time, for 16k armour (my DH is better ilvl).

Plus pally get 2x bubble for 0 damage (amazing on necrotic, grieve, and in general to save our lives). Plus we get wings on a 2min CD that gives us a full heal, and lay of hands. We get 50% slows in concecration…

Thr list goes on and on. Its asbolutely disgusting the difference between a DH and the top 3 tanks.

Its ashame. Like you say its a very fun tank spec… looking at dk or brewmaster now. Not sure for mobility or self sustain

I would enjoy tanking as V.DH but everyone denies me if I try, at least at the moment.

Yeah, I previously only tanked with my DH. Then I tried warriors and paladins, and since then I see absolutely no reason to tank with my DH because they are so inferior in comparison. :frowning:

Saying this from a PVP perspective, I’m absolutely in love with Vengeance. As a flag carrier, every group wants a Veng DH, simply for the infernal strike. The double jump can cover so much distance with a flag that no other class can compare.

Double that up with a priests grip of life and you’re all set for PVP. For PvE, I absolutely despise Vengeance. Especially in raids. Veng is OK for 5 man content, but outside of that, the downtime of DS at this particular moment for a DH just makes you pop instantly.
