I’ve been in the LFR queue for CN now for 85+ minutes. I just want a legendary recipe for my new Mage alt. I killed Sire HC over 20 times during 9.0. There is nothing enjoyable about this. This is, pure and simple, an egregious waste of my time.
I want to go for a cigarette, I want to go make some food. I’m afraid that the queue will pop in the mean time, and my sense of sunk time costs at this point is palpable.
I have enjoyed Shadowlands on the whole, 9.1.5 is looking great, and I have a ton of admiration for the Devs of this game I genuinely love.
But this lack of respect for my time just makes me really, really angry. Ion wrote recently that when Lore and gameplay come into conflict, gameplay should take priority. I can see why the Runecarver’s memories would be tied to important encounters (although if someone can explain to me the lore behind frozen orb granting FoF procs and the Runecarver-Sire Danny relationship I’ll be impressed). But there is nothing fun about this gameplay.
Sincerely,
Fred
You can buy the Chronicle of Lost Memories (if I remember the name correctly) in Korthia, and use it to discover a legendary you didn’t collect yet. You can also buy another item from your sanctum, once you have 4 anima conductor beams permanently chanelled.
You can also try to find a legendary farming pug, convince friends and/or guildies, or buy a boost from one of the communities. A full CN normal clear is ~350k, and is over before your LFR queue pops.

None are appealing solutions. Buying a boost, seriously? I started this expac with about 350k from Ny’alotha BOEs, and that was quickly wiped out by legendary base item costs. And I despise the boost scene because it’s massively damaging to the PUG scene.
The Chronicle is a random unattained recipe. I’ve done Korthia to death, grinded full conduits and sockets on my Priest, and going back to grind another 16 thousand research or whatever it would take to RNG the recipe I want is another egregious waste of my time. Same story with the Anima conductor, which presumably would take weeks, if little actual gameplay time.
The point is, it shouldn’t be this hard to simply craft your desired legendary on an alt. I just want to do some M+ on this char with the appropriate leggo, it’s a core system of the expac that I can’t enjoy without going back and doing something that I’ve already done to death on my main.
I’d love to see all memories automatically unlocked account wide once you have completed the Korthia campaign on any character. Since that story literally involves restoring the Runecarver’s memory.
Well, I find that a good way to pass time while waiting for such queues is to do old content. Try doing old raids and dungeons for reputation, nice BOE items, mounts and mini-pets.
The wait is still long, but it does not feel so long in my view. And it would be lovely if we didn’t have to wait that long, but I guess that’s how it is when less people do that raid.
GL in your queue then.
It really isn’t hard. Even if you don’t want to spend research (understandable) or grind out the conductor (also understandable), or spend gold (though, gold is stupid easy to come by in SL), you can still ask friends and guildies. Being an MMO, having friends is highly recommended anyway.
I mean, LFR isn’t your only option, is what I’m saying. Whether you deem the other options worth it or not, is up to you, but the game offers you numerous ways to obtain the legendary you desire.
And none are appealing. Friends sure, and I have plenty in wow. It’s literally the reason I play the game, to do challenging content with friends. And getting enough together to do something they have no reason to do is not realistic.
You and I fundamentally disagree that the barriers to getting this recipe are reasonable, let alone fun, which is what I want to spend my time having (The fun parts of this game for me are: raiding with friends, m+ with friends, challenging solo content, and story campaigns). You’ve listed the various options, which is helpful and I thank you for that. But I regard them as a frustrating waste of time, that are holding me back from enjoying the game in the way I want to.
They should have just added the CN legendaries to dungeons or torghast. It doesnt make sense to have them in a raid nobody does anymore.
Unfortunately your best case is Korthia.
Blizzard has absolutely no respect to players’ time and effort. Hence, i chill in GW2 these days. Its also a bit weird that in GW2 i find a group in 30 seconds for an old dungeon but for WoW such is not the case.
Is this said without any for of sarcasm or… I mean. Really?
Make your own group then!!!
But no!! That would mean actually making an effort.
Tl;dr I can here to whine and I’m not interested in any solutions.
The solutions ranged from bad to idiotic.
In your opinion, which mainly consists of whatever you think will irritate the most people the most and so makes itself irrelevant.
Don’t be ridiculous. Paying 300k or 15€ for a boost is awful advice.
If that irritates you then so be it. Your whole “tldr I’m not interested in any solutions” is either trolling or a complete lack of anything resembling intelligence.
I mean, come on, articulate how grinding your nuts off in Korthia for an RNG token as a tax to play an alt or buying a boost is good advice? I have no words for the dumb crap people can come up with in these forums…
This is not a solution when the old raid is literally not ran by people anymore so you will not find a full group of capable people for it any time soon.
Legendaries shouldn’t drop from content that has no value being done except for those legendaries. Nobody is doing CN unless they need a pattern, and making a raid group to clear otherwise obsolete content isn’t something anyone should be expected to do.
After a raid tier is over, the raid’s dead. This isn’t TBC, and it’ll take a lot more than arbitrarily keeping a few spec’s BIS items in there to make public consensus on that change.

Working as designed, unfortionately enough.
with 9.1 out 9.0 might as well be last expansion

I came here to provide feedback on the game. You know, one of the principle purposes of these forums. And the above is my proposed solution.
Thanks for your meaningful contribution there bud.
Had an alt going 60 last week, took me around 2-2.5 hours to queue and clear all wings of CN lft for all of the memories. Not sure if the drops are 100% but certainly felt pretty easy. Then again I did it by queueing for all 3 roles since it didnt matter to me which one I did which probably made it quicker.
I was bracing myself to buy a few of the missing memories off the Korthia vendor but didnt happen.
They just should have added the legendaries to SOD’s loot table, as they did with conduits.

plenty of people do CN normal/hc for transmog already . OP just wants his lfr ques to be instant.
what could alleviate those problem is introducing AI to old lfrs and to normal/hc dungeons to make quest instant pop.
but blizzard is to lazy and cheap to implement proper AI like other mmorpgs alrady did.
