If they took away my knick knacks I wouldn’t move to a new game, as simple as that. I want everything I have now. I’ve putted in too much time and effort, have an almost full account of alts, nothing can be left behind.
If they did that then I would consider it, if the new version was a remaster of the old world, perhaps consolidating old systems and ensuring a smooth progression through the different xpacs. If on the other hand they tried to innovate and reinvent the wheel then I wouldn’t touch it. I don’t want a new game, I want a new version of this game, one that fixes the problems this one has.
But players will have to be willing to give up stuff to get better things.
Why stick to 1 set of glasses with 1 color type while you could get 10 sets of glasses with all the colors you want to pick.
The current wow systems are too limiting.
Armor can’t be dyed, Armor is made for humans then deformed for other races, etc.
A wow 2 will just be WoW with improved systems, it might start slow but it will get way better with time.
You say you’ve put ALOT of work on the game, I did too I’ve put 15 years into the game, but look at the game now.
Every expansion it’s a soft reset, our power level gets reset, as we level up we feel like we are depowering instead of powering up and then we gotta regrind.
I witnessed something like that back in the day with Ragnarok Online and Ragnarok Online 2. The sequel got completely rejected by the community and died within one year.
Best option would be to upgrade the core system permanently.
I don’t think anyone would welcome an unreal 4 game engine wow.
First of all the cartoony style of Wow is beloved by almost all the playerbase.
Secondly blizzard wants to make the game accessible for everyone, even those using potatos for a PC.
Thirdly a customized game engine grants much more freedom to do awesome things afaik, why would a huge company put a dent in their profits to take a limited and less liked game engine ?
Personally I think if Wow was ported to the overwatch engine it would be amazing.
If I remember correctly at one time they did state that they wanna port all their games to that engine.
