I will introduce to you the complete rework of Elemental Shaman (not official).
Summary :
Shaman area strange class. Sometimes powerful and sometimes really weak (pvp and pve). Its feel like Blizzard doesn’t know how to deal with them. We can, first, define what is they pros and cons. Like it or not, Shaman is a BURST class. Take every spec; Elemental is a burst caster, Resto is a burst healer and Enh is a burst melee. They share Totem (Like Blessings for Paladins). These are, and should remain, powerful cooldown that affect all the group.
Elemental is a caster dps that should control ELEMENTAL better than anyone else. With Totem going back, I think change must be made.

Baseline Elemental Chaman Change
Grounding Totem
5.9% of base mana / Instant / 45 sec cooldown
Summons an Air Totem with 5 health at the feet of the caster that will redirect all harmful spells cast on a nearby party or raid member to itself. Will not redirect area of effect spells. Lasts 3 sec.Skyfury Totem
3% of base mana / Instant / 45 sec cooldown
Summons a Fire Totem with 5 health at the feet of the caster for 15 sec that increases the critical effect of damage and healing spells of all nearby allies within 40 yards by 20% for 15 sec.Fire Elemental
40 yd range / Instant / 3 min recharge
Calls forth a Greater Fire Elemental to rain destruction on your enemies for 30 sec. While the Greater Fire Elemental is active, Flame Shock generates 3 Maelstrom when it deals damage over time.Storm Elemental
40 yd range / Instant / 3 min recharge
Calls forth a Greater Storm Elemental to hurl gusts of wind that damage the Shaman’s enemies for 30 sec. While the Storm Elemental is active, each time you cast Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning, the cast time of Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning is reduced by 2%, stacking up to 20 times.Earth Elemental
40 yd range / Instant / 3 min cooldown
Calls forth a Greater Earth Elemental to protect you and your allies for 1 min.Lightning Lasso
20 yd range / Instant / 30 sec cooldown
Grips the target in lightning, stunning the target for 3 sec. Can move while channeling.Stormkeeper
1.5 sec cast / 1 min cooldown
Charge yourself with lightning, causing your next 2 Lightning Bolts to deal 150% more damage, and also causes your next 2 Lightning Bolts or Chain Lightnings to be instant cast and trigger an Elemental Overload on every target.Ascendance: REMOVE
**Explicative Note: Here we go, a lot of change baseline.
- Totems :
Grounding Totem: Should be made baseline like it was before. One of the good cds against magic attack.
Capacitor Totem: Remain the same.
Tremor Totem: Remain the same.
Earthbind Totem: Remain the same.
These 4 Totems should be made baseline for all Shaman spec. - Elemental: Its a core gameplay of Elemental, more than Totem.
Elemental should be the ONLY spec that play with them. All of them. - Lightning Lasso: Nerf it so it does no damage. A CC Skill should not be a damaging spell.
- Stormkeeper: The Only Bust spell of Elemental because Ascendance doesn’t suit them.
It’s important to know the fact that Elemental Shaman has now baseline:
- 3 CC skill (Capacitor Totem, Hex and Lightning Lasso).
- 2 Mobility skill (Earthbind Totem and Ghost Wolf).
- 2 Defensive cd (Grounding Totem and Astral Shift).
- 1 Burst cd (Stormkeeper).
With this Elemental Shaman (and the other classe) has 4 distintive playstyle and more if you combine talents. Here they are:
- 1 column: Playstyle Based on Shocks spells and Elementals.
- 2 column: Playstyle Based on Lava Burst.
- 3 column: Playstyle Based on Lightning Bolt and Overload.
- 4 column: Playstyle Based on Earth Shocks.
Now we can move to talent (8 tiers). READ carefully because a lot of talent has changed.
Tier 1: Ressource Management
Elemental Attunement
Increases your maximum Maelstrom by 50 and Generates 1 Maelstrom every 3 sec.
Aftershock
Earth Shock and Earthquake have a 30% chance to refund the Maelstrom spent on them.
Lightning Charge
Your Lightning Bolt generates an additional 2 Maelstrom and your Chain Lightning generates an additional 1 Maelstrom.
Resonance
The Maelstrom cost of Earth Shock is reduced by 10.
Tier 2: Base Skills Rotation
Earthen Rage
Your damaging spells incite the earth around you to come to your aid for 6 sec, repeatedly dealing (15% of Spell power) Nature damage to your most recently attacked target.
Echo of the Elements
Lava Burst now has 2 charges. Effects that reset its remaining cooldown will instead grant 1 charge.
Master of the Elements
Casting Lava Burst critically hit reduce the cast time of your next Lightning Bolt by 30% and increase its damage by 15%.
Elemental Blast
40 yd range / 2 sec cast / 12 sec cooldown
Harnesses the raw power of the elements, dealing (70% of Spell power) Elemental damage and increasing your Critical Strike, Haste, or Mastery by 5% for 10 sec. Can cause an Elemental Overload.
Tier 3: Basic Gameplay
Fire and Ice
Reduce the cooldown of Flame Shock by 2 sec and increases your Frost Shock spell damage by 15%.
Unleashed Fury
Lava Burst critically hit burn the target for Fire damage (10% of Spell power * 3) over 6 sec. Cannot occur on Elemental Overload.
Unlimited Power
When your spells cause an elemental overload, you gain 2% Haste for 12 sec. Gaining a stack does not refresh the duration.
Totem Mastery
Summons four totems that increase your combat capabilities for 2 min.
- Resonance Totem : Generates 1 Maelstrom every 1 sec.
- Ember Totem: Increases Flame Shock damage over time by 10%.
- Tailwind Totem: Increases your Haste by 2%.
- Storm Totem: Increases the chance for Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning to trigger Elemental Overload by 5%.
Tier 4: Defense
Astral Shell
Astral Shift now is usable while you are under a effects which cause loss of control. Reduce the cooldown by 15 sec and increase it duration 50%.
Ethereal Form
Replaces Astral Shift / Instant / 1.5min cooldown
You turn ethereal, making you immune to all physical damage, but unable to attack or cast spells and your movement speed is reduced by 50%. Lasts for 10 sec. Use Ethereal Form again to shift out.Nature’s Guardian
When your health is brought below 35%, you instantly heal for 25% of your maximum health. Cannot occur more than once every 45 sec.
Swelling Waves
Increase your Healing Surge by 25% and when you cast Healing Surge on yourself, you are healed for 50% of the amount 3 sec later.
Tier 5: Mobility
Gust of Wind
Instant / 30 sec cooldown
A gust of wind hurls you forward.Spirit Wolf
While transformed into a Ghost Wolf, you gain 10% increased movement speed and for 5 seconds after leaving Ghost Wolf form, you move 20% faster. Cannor occur more thanonce every 5 sec.
Traveling Storms
Thunderstorm now can be cast on allies within 40 yards, its cooldown is reduced by 15 sec and snare them by 70% now.
Earthgrab Totem
2.5% of base mana / 35 yd range / Instant / 30 sec cooldown / Replace Earthbind Totem
Summons a totem at the target location for 20 sec. The totem pulses every 2 sec, rooting all enemies within 8 yards for 8 sec. Enemies previously rooted by the totem instead suffer 50% movement speed reduction.
Tier 6: Area of Effect (AOE)
Liquid Magma Totem
40 yd range / Instant / 1 min cooldown
Summons a totem that hurls liquid magma at a random nearby target every 1 sec, dealing [(20% of Spell power) * (1.02)] Fire damage to all enemies within 8 yards.Volcanic Inferno
Lava Burst has a chance to open a volcanic fissure under your target, dealing (6 * (15% of Spell power)) Fire damage over 6 sec to all enemies within 3 yds of the target.
Electric Discharge
Your Chain Lightning spell now strikes 2 additional targets, but deals 10% less initial damage.
Seismic Storm
Earthquake damage has a 10% chance to cause Seismic Lightning, dealing (50% of Spell power) Nature damage to the target.
Tier 7: Refine playstyle
Icefury
40 yd range / 2 sec cast / 30 sec cooldown
Hurls frigid ice at the target, dealing (75% of Spell power) Frost damage and causing your next 4 Frost Shocks to deal 200% increased damage and generate 8 Maelstrom. Generates 25 Maelstrom. Can cause an Elemental OverloadElemental Oath
Grants 5% spell haste to all party and raid members within 100 yards.
Power of the Maelstrom
When you cast Lava Burst, you have 15% chance to cause your next 3 Lightning Bolts to trigger Elemental Overload an additional time.
Surge of Power
Earth Shock also enhances your next spell cast within 15 sec:
- Flame Shock: The next cast also applies Flame Shock to 1 additional target within 8 yards of the target.
- Lava Burst: Reduces the cooldown of your Fire Elemental by 3 sec.
- Lightning Bolt: Your next cast will cause an additional 1-2 Elemental Overloads.
- Frost Shock: Freezes the target in place for 5 sec.
Tier 8: Burst
Primal Elementalist
Your Earth, Fire are drawn from primal elementals 80% more powerful than regular elementals, with additional abilities, and you gain direct control over them. Lava Burst reduce the remaining cooldown on Fire Elemental by 2 sec and Lightning Bolt reduce the remaining cooldown on Storm Elemental by 3 sec.
Control of Lava
Your Lava Burst’s damage is increase by 100% and it generates 30 Maelstrom when it deals damage. This effect replaces your Lava Surge passive.
Elemental Mastery
Instant / 2 min cooldown
Call upon elemental forces, empowering you with 30% haste for 20 sec.Earthfury
Increases the maximum cost of Earth Shock by 25 and Earth Shock reduce the target’s damage dealt by 10% for 10 sec.
I repeate that none of this is official. It’s just my personnal point of view of the spec but i truly think that a lot of classes need this particular attention.
