I will introduce to you the complete rework of Windwalker Monk (not official).
Summary :
WW monks are truly a strong spec. The fighting style suit them and the work behind this class over the previous expansions is quite remarkable. But somes change must be made. Like the Feral or others specs, they have been given a lot of passives that make them really strong before you have to choose the first talent. And it’s not acceptable.
Let’s check the baseline skill.

Baseline WW Monk Change
Leg Sweep
Instant / 1 min cooldown
Knocks down all enemies within 5 yards, stunning them for 3 sec.Blackout Kick
2 Chi / Melee Range / Instant cast / 3 sec cooldown
Kick with a blast of Chi energy, dealing x% Physical damage.Rising Sun Kick
…Rising Sun Kick doesn’t apply Mortal Wound.
Disable
15 Energy / 0.7% of base mana / Melee Range / Instant
Reduces the target’s movement speed by 50% for 15 sec, duration refreshed by your melee attacks. Doesn’t root when apply on snared target.Storm, Earth, and Fire : TALENT
Storm, Earth, and Fire has 2 charges.
Combat Conditioning : TALENT
Transcendence : Removed from WW Spec
**Explicative Note: With this WW monk doesn’t have a root cc (if not talented). Leg Sweep baseline and Transcendence be removed from the spec. it’s should be exclusivly reserved to MW.
Last, there should none hybrid spec that can apply Mortal Wound. There should be 2 version of this debuff: -25% heal and -35% heal.
There is 8 specs that should have Mortal Wound -25% and 3 of them can have -35% :
- 3 specs Rogues : Only Assassination should have -35%.
- 3 specs Hunter : Only Marksmanship should have -35%.
- 2 Specs Warrior : Only Arms should have -35%.
It’s important to know the fact that WW Monk has now baseline:
- 2 CC skill ( Paralysis and Leg Sweep).
- 2 Mobility skill ( Roll and Flying Serpent Kick).
- 1 Defensive cd (Touch of Karma).
- 2 Burst cd (Touch of Death and Storm, Earth, and Fire).
With this WW Monk (and the other classe) has 4 distintive playstyle and more if you combine talents. Here they are:
- 1 column: TraditionnalPlaystyle .
- 2 column: Playstyle Based on dot and magical damage.
- 3 column: Playstyle Based on Combo Strike.
- 4 column: Playstyle Based on New rotation with differents cd and buffs.
Now we can move to talent (8 tiers). READ carefully because a lot of talent has changed.
Tier 1: Ressource Management
Ascension
Increases your maximum Chi by 1, maximum Energy by 20, and your Energy regeneration by 10%.
Imrove Combo Breaker
Combo Breaker has now 15% chance to trigger.
Dark Skies
Blackout Kick costs 1 fewer Chi.
Energizing Elixir
Instant / 1 min cooldown
Chug an Energizing Elixir, granting 4 Chi and generating 75 Energy over 5 sec.
Tier 2: Base Skills Rotation
Alpha Tiger
Attacking with Tiger Palm fills you with the spirit of Xuen, granting you 15% critical strike chance for 10 sec. This effect cannot occur more than once every 30 sec.
Combat Conditioning
Your Blackout Kick now also deals an additional 30% damage over 6 sec.
Hit Combo
Each successive attack that triggers Combo Strikes in a row grants 1% increased damage, stacking up to 10 times.
Fist of the White Tiger
40 Energy / Melee Range / Instant / 30 sec cooldown
Strike with the technique of the White Tiger, dealing [(80% of Attack power) + (80% of Attack power)] Physical damage. Generates 3 Chi.
Tier 3: Basic Gameplay
Tornado Kicks
Rising Sun Kick strikes a second time for 25% additional damage.
Eye of the Tiger
Tiger Palm also applies Eye of the Tiger, dealing (30% of Attack power) Nature damage to the enemy and (25% of Attack power) healing to the Monk over 8 sec.
Transfer the Power
Blackout Kick and Rising Sun Kick increase damage dealt by your next Fists of Fury by 2%, stacking up to 10 times.
Chi Wave
40 yd range / Instant / 15 sec cooldown
A wave of Chi energy flows through friends and foes, dealing (15% of Attack power) Nature damage or (30% of Attack power) healing. Bounces up to 7 times to targets within 25 yards.
Tier 4: Defense
Inner Strength
Each Chi you spend reduces damage taken by 2% for 8 sec, stacking up to 5 times.
Diffuse Magic
Instant / 1.5 min cooldown
Reduces magic damage you take by 75% for 5 sec, and transfers all currently active harmful magical effects on you back to their original caster if possible.Good Karma
100% of the damage redirected by Touch of Karma also heals you.
Fortifying Brew
Instant / 2 min cooldown
Turns your skin to stone, increasing your current and maximum health by 20%, and reducing damage taken by 20% for 15 sec.
Tier 5: Mobility
Disabling Reach
Disable now has a 10 yard range and can root target that are already snared for 6 sec.
Celerity
Reduces the cooldown of Roll by 5 sec, increase the distance by 5 yards and its maximum number of charges by 1.
Dragon Style
Flying Dragon Kick can now be steered.
Tiger’s Lust
20 yd range / Instant / 1 min cooldown
Increases a friendly target’s movement speed by 70% for 6 sec and removes all roots and snares.
Tier 6: Area of Effect (AOE)
Cyclone Strikes
Spinning Crane Kick’s damage is increased by 10% for each unique target you’ve struck in the last 15 sec with Tiger Palm, Blackout Kick, or Rising Sun Kick
Rushing Jade Win
1 Chi / Instant cast / 6 sec cooldown
Summons a whirling tornado around you, causing [(9) * (10% of Attack power)] damage over 6 sec to enemies within 8 yards.Turbo Fists
Fists of Fury now deals full damage to all targets hit, reduces all targets movement speed by 30%, and you Parry all attacks while channelling Fists of Fury.
Chi Burst
40 yd range / 1 sec cast / 30 sec cooldown
Hurls a torrent of Chi energy up to 40 yds forward, dealing (75% of Attack power) Nature damage to all enemies. Chi Burst generates 1 Chi per enemy target damaged, up to a maximum of 3.
Tier 7: Refine playstyle
Crosswinds
During Fists of Fury, Wind Spirit images of you attack your Fists of Fury targets for a total of (8 * (50% of Attack power)) additional Physical damage.
Pressure Points
Increases damage done by Touch of Death by 10% of all damage you dealt to the target during the duration and its cooldown is instantly reset when targets die from Touch of Death’s damage or with Touch of Death active.
Whirling Dragon Punch
Instant / 25 sec cooldown
Performs a devastating whirling upward strike, dealing [3 * (85% of Attack power)] damage to all nearby enemies. Only usable while both Fists of Fury and Rising Sun Kick are on cooldown.Invoke Xuen, the White Tiger
40 yd range / Instant / 2 min cooldown
Summons an effigy of Xuen, the White Tiger for 20 sec. Xuen attacks your primary target, and strikes 3 enemies within 10 yards every 1 sec with Tiger Lightning for (25% of Attack power) Nature damage.
Tier 8: Burst
Spiritual Focus
Storm, Earth, and Fire has 2 charges and every 2 Chi you spend reduces the cooldown of Storm, Earth, and Fire by 1 sec.
Tigereye Brew
Instant / 1 sec cooldown
Consumes up to 10 stacks of Tigereye Brew to empower your Physical abilities with wind for 3 sec per stack consumed. Damage of your strikes by pass armor. For each 3 Chi you consume, you gain a stack of Tigereye Brew.Serenity
Instant / 1.5 min cooldown
Enter an elevated state of mental and physical serenity for 12 sec. While in this state, you deal 20% increased damage and healing, and all Chi consumers are free and cool down 100% more quickly.Strike of the Windlord
2 Chi / 9 yd range / Instant cast / 1 min cooldown
Strike with both Fists of the Heavens at all enemies in front of you, dealing (125% + 125%) damage and reducing movement speed by 50% for 6 sec.
I repeate that none of this is official. It’s just my personnal point of view of the spec but i truly think that a lot of classes need this particular attention.
