Firstly I am going to say that i really like how affliction plays in Shadowlands.
The problems with the spec lies the wrong “vision” they seem to have for it, which is, at least how i see it, spread cleave/council fights. And that would have been fine if there were a few fights like this every tier, but at most there is one, and that doesnt excuse the usage of such specs.
One of the most important aspect of all specs is if they can target swap fast and kill an important target. Dot specs cant do that. So we need the st power to compensate for that, and while thats true for SP, its not for Aff anymore.
Also in m+ most spec have to give up some portion of their st dps to do aoe damage(or none for some like frost mage) which seems to be ~5%. Affliction on the other hand swaping one single talent loses 10%+ st dps, which grows closer to 15% with another talent and conduits.
So my suggestions are:
a)Buff st dps by any means, especially the FM conduit. Other ways are SL, UA.
b)Give us PS baseline so we dont lose so much st when picking the sts talent and replace it with a lower impact st talent
c)Buff Darkglare baseline dps which will bring our st higher and closer between raiding and m+.

d) Remove MW and give us another st legendary. MW is imo bad designed.

I basically agree with you. In my opinion the talent tree is too overloaded with active skills, that feel like you need them so the spec can actually do its thing. PS is one of those talents. Haunt is another one in my opinion that should be baseline for one reason alone: It is a very good skill to tune afflictions single-target damage without letting the multi-target damage get out of hand (which is always the risk when balancing this spec). Affliction has too little ST-damage, but is doing fine in MT (like now)? If haunt would be baseline you could buff its debuff by x% until the ST-damage is fine again and you don’t break the MT-damage at the same time. Right now it is at 10% which is pretty weak (in its peak it was at 45% damage-amp to all dots on the target).
Maybe the best way to buff Single target would be just to give malefic wrath more quality of life … its a pain in the a** to mentain and worse then the old SE , Give it a longer duration at least and a more meaningfull buff to darkglare would be nice . I tried it about an hour on a dummy and it felt better without haunt and simple the new version of the buffed duration of SE . The old version was sometimes a pain to mentain but we got it mutch worse back with MW … We dont have a fix income on shards on ST and sometimes you get the procs realy badly…
