Was wondering if anyone knows if there is a video or something explaining what to do on 9.1 launch to play a character in arenas when they open up. As it is now if your trying to push an alt it’s an uphill climb if you didn’t play at the start and got gear when everyone else did. I have a 184 ilvl mage I played to around 1600 at the start of shadowlands that i hvnt touched since first week no legendary for pvp no conq gear. If I put full honor gear on this character and get myself a legendary won’t I get stomped by 226 ilvl players on arena release day? or is honor gear gonna scale to 226 on release so it’s an even climb once again?

And that will get my alts to 226?
well you have a few easy choices which are either korthia rares and treasures or honor grind
korthia drops ilvl 200 gear which can be upgraded to ~230 or something with a currency you get from doing korthia content. think benthic gear in nazjatar, idk how fast it is though
base s2 honor gear is 177 (190 in pvp) and you would have to grind it to rank 4 (210, 223 in pvp) or 5 (216, 229 in pvp). that’s a tremendous amount of honor though and you cant even upgrade past tier 3 first week because it requires 43 renown
then there’s m+ and raids but i assume you don’t want to do those
I tried to find out, but it looks like there will be nothing except the opportunity to farm all your 226 gear for honor once the season starts. Unless it will be gated by renown. Then you are pucked. If not, you might probably get your basic gear together within 2 weeks once the season starts. Hopefuly you get competitive gear before ppl reach 3k and sit for the rest of the season, while the queues die out.
Hmn so i basicly have 2 choices to be competetive first week. Take 1 week vacation from work spam arenas get full conq gear, get 2100 and upgrade everything or do the new mega dungeon and spam m+ before raid and season is out. I guess pve it is because i dont think i have time to find partners to push with and get all the honor to upgrade everything even if i took a vacation. Sad that they just didnt make honor gear 226 in pvp so every1 can compete on an even level atleast first week.
i actually forgot that m+ opens the same time as pvp season so you cant even do that
no way to be competetive on week 1 straight off the bat unless already 226 from 9.0 lol
I could be mistaken, but I think the new Dungeon has pretty decent ilvl?
i guess, but pretty sure it is on a weekly mythic lock out?
Also if mechagone is any indication, better stay away from pugging it for 2 month till the last potato understands the easiest boss mechanics.
if you got friends/guild/whatever you can run it weekly I guess, but if you had those, you wouldn’t need to worry to catch up quickly in the first place =)

That is true, I was told hardmode is it’s own lockout, but I’m not sure if you get gear from that.
I have that, but still need to do some heavy catchup

I used the boredom and got all my 10 classes to max level, except 3 are even ilvl 200.
But sitting in the same boat I will option for one of the 2 choices:
- farm honor to upgrade stuff and of course to the weekly conquest grind gabanzo
- farm m+ for ez pz higher ilvls.
Pretty sure you actually have to do no.2 anyways if you want to stay ahead.
ilvl reward for m10 will be 230 for end of dungeon and those are basically endless farmable and m+ should be instantly doable if you have 210 ilvl gear.
To get 210 ilvl you can first do low dungeons like M0 (210 ilvl) or low quick m+
+15s give 236 end of dungeon rewards which is 10 ilvl higher than current max ilvl conquest gear, so hardcore players would grind out those before they can replace stuff with pvp gear
It is very stupid because thanks to renown gating, honor gear will have a pvp ilvl of max 210 till like 7 weeks into the patch.
Absolutely not worth farming at all.
New dungeon gives 226 ilvl
New hardmode dungeon gives 233 ilvl
worth noting that you can do time walking weekly for 226 gear which isn’t to bad the in the second week (I guess will be around that time?)
Not sure if the dungeon event next week will drop old gear or new gear
in for a mega gear gap gabanzo after the first 3 weeks again anyways. If you are pugging (like me) you are already at a severe disadvantage and probably fall behind the curve very quickly. But I don’t have any choice anyways as I do not have enough time to hardcore grind

Dont forget that if you do pve for 226 ilvl (and you will probably get 2 item / weekly run) It still worse than a upscaled pvp item that will be like 233 ilvl in arena.
Dont bother too much accept that you wont be as competitive as the dudes who farmed 200 days with 1 char.
My best Bet is that the best way will be farming honor do some arena farm honor do some arena and probably after the first month (4 weeks) you can start to climb and catch up.
Yes I do have a guild and friends who will help me do the mega dungeon for gear and if I ask real nice hopefully armor stack on both my classes. If I don’t get full gear from that i can always spam m+ on release day and push the week after. Guess I was just hoping for some quick chill honor gear fix from blizz but since I know there’s atleast hope to be competitive I’m happy

if the pve gear got no vers, you are still screwed
I think playing without vers on the same or higher ilvl is better then playing with vers and be 20 ilvls behind tbh
