Like, we still don’t know exactly what she “did” or why her cartel is after her, what her “business” is about. I hope blizzard clear this up. She’s been a fun character to interact with. It’s been strange with her flitting between being standoffish and then behaving like our protector in Korthia, but I can’t help but think there’s more to it.
Also in 9.2 Tazavesh on m+ yes?
I guess I just like the brokers. They’ve grown on me a lot. It’s a shame they’ll never be playable. I really like their whole aesthetic and culture. Being a Broker rogue would kick serious butt.
Not just that, really. Has anyone actually liked how SL treats the returning characters part from maybe Garrosh who was in it for less than a min…
Let’s go a few highlights.
Uther- Essentially retconed to be an incompetent paladin. Originally in the RotLK novel the reason he lost to Arthas was because he hesitated when he had the killing blow because at that moment he saw Arthas as he was not as he is, the new story about “compassion” directly contradicts this.
Kael’Thas- Treated as a joke and a footnote by the Venthyr.
Draka- One of the biggest charisma void’s in the expansion.
Jaina/Thrall/Baine - Why are they even in this expansion ?
Ner’zhul- “Story expanded” to be an inferior version or a prototype of a Lich King.
Vol’jin- Wth are you even doing with that character?
not happening, if they’ll add new races they will add them as regular races
the only reason they had allied races was so that they didn’t have to design 2 zones for the level 1 to 20 experience like most racial starting zones are.
Personally I hope they retcon shadowlands lore and recon pre shadowlands lore.
We know more about how the world works but it feels like we’re left with less lore to enjoy as a consequence, it’s all rigid, cold and mechanical
Yeah that would be alot easier for them. Just give undead the option to be look like nathanos. It can be like worgen. The way you choose human or worgen if you make a class trial and if you are undead you either chose the current one or nathanos.
I agree with your general tone here however I disagree that the treatment of Kale’thas has been “wrong”.
Kael’thas being treated as a joke by the Venthyr is totally appropriate, because the Venthyr don’t recognise the “greatness” of those in their charge, their specific duty is to try and humble them and get them to recognise how all the la-de-dah greatness these people imagine in their lives isn’t hot crap if they cultivate a plethora of vices in the process. Kael’thas is a good example of this.
“I’m the lord of the blood elves, treat me with some damn respect!!!”
Says the guy who wasn’t there when his people were invaded by the scourge.
Wasn’t in his home kingdom most of the time.
Upon reconciling with his people, was selling them out to demons by the back door.
Then reimagined his further selling out to demons as him “outplaying Illidan” etc.
Kael’thas got exactly what he deserved. In his mind his life was a string of master plays and huge achievements, he was a dang prince, and nobody else could see his greatness. In truth whilst he was accomplished as a mage, his achievements as a prince and leader of his people were blighted by his ego and arrogance and his unwillingness to do what his people needed than rather what he personally wanted to do.
He is a joke, they’re right to laugh at him. His greatness is largely imagined. The blood elves never mourned his disappearance because they had a competent leader in Lor’themar, they weren’t hero worshipping him or pleading for him to come back. The Venthyr simply lay this out for him and laugh at him because honestly he is the only one, literally the only one who believes his own hype and he believes everyone else was “wrong” for not being able to see it. He’s a mess.
The rest of the chars you posted about however, total agree. Draka in particular is just not there for me. I love Maldraxxus to bits but her as the figurehead is just not working for me. It’s got nothing to do with her being thrall’s mum or being a strong female char, and everything to do with the fact that we know next to nothing about her until now, and her suitability for Maldraxxus has largely be conjured from thin air, and her presentation is quite generic; she doesn’t behave differently to most female orc characters.
Vashj would have been a better fit for the “main character” of the covenant honestly, or if we want to do completely left field, what about someone like Lei Shen? Would have been quite fun to see him again, and he fits the covenant to the T.
It’s not like I don’t understand where you are coming from, but Kael’Thas is a character we have known since WC3, he should be treated with a bit more respect by the writhers themselves, like ok sure have the venthyr look down on him and what not but give him some cool moments aswell, because as it is now we are not experiencing the story in a possitive way, we are seeing new characters we know next to nothing belittling the ones we know who themselves are just acting as punching bags. All I’m saying is there is a way to do these stories correct and with some taste.
