A bit too short Firelands?

Howdy,
according to the Cata timeline (available ie. on WoWhead), the Firelands season is supposed to last 3 months (October, November, December) - and I assume FL and DS will be released at similar part of the month, so it’s either start of October and start of December or end of both…either way, it’s 3 months for Firelands.

Am I the only one who considers it needlessly too little? In my opinion, Firelands is the peak of Cata raiding, it triumphs t11 and DS doesn’t even come near - the quality of Firelands rivals that of Ulduar and / or ICC…and speeding such a tier tier to 3 months just seems a bit too fast to me. I’m not sure how the other raiders see it though, so…any opinions on the matter?

Yes, I liked the Firelands raid very much too.
But it is only 1 raid with 7 Bosses. Considering that we do not have to go trial&error because the content is old and there are already guides for everything, most guilds will clear it within the first 1-3 weeks. So the rest is time for hc tries if your guild wants that.
So after that, they will become bored quickly, no matter how much fun a raid is in the beginning, that quickly decreases when you have it on farm mode.
ICC ws a great example for that, in the end of ICC rading the player numbers rapidly dropping, even among those who had ICC as their favourite raid.

Most guilds will probably be 6/7 HC, sure. But I don’t think you should underestimate Ragnaros HC even in 2024. It’s not an easy boss, and from memory more difficult than everything in T11. And some of the current end bosses are still proving to be a challenge for a large portion of the playerbase.

Blizz said that they are gonna adjust the timeline if need be. However, blizzard saying stuff doesnt mean squad so yeah^^let´s see.

they are releasing ZA/ZG later than they said, so don’t rule out the possibility of DS coming in February.

Maybe you are right, because now we know what comes after right? Originally I think we all agreed Firelands had lasted long enough in the OG, everyone cleared everything, and then you start looking for more.

Its more that the pace was first decided on how long it took ppl to clear stuff, if that took too long they would nerf it, or give indirect buffs to loot or abilities etc.

The consideration, how enjoyable a raid is, and base a timespan on it, is a new one.

I’m not sure ICC is a perfect example of player base drop - no argumnts about it happening, I just think a big role in said drop played the fact that the expansion was about to end and a whole damn lot of people were just taking a break before Cata.

Thanks for the answers to everyone.

Imho, ICC raid numbers fell off because many people just wanted to clear it once or twice rather than farm it, and because it turned out to be quite underwhelming as a raid.

I think the overwhelming part was largely caused by the up to 30 % buff - had it not been for that, I don’t really belive as much people, PUGs etc. would have been able to kill even Prof / Sindra, let alone LK. We did have the buff, though, so yeah, you might be right there.
