[A] Campsite: A new home

Hola!

The basic pitch:

Look, here’s the thing, this is a new guild currently made up of myself and my partner who have been looking to capture nomadic players that have been stumbling between these largely populated guilds, attempting to find some kinda community that, at the minimum, will ask 'em: "how are ya? whatcha upto?"

Campsite aims to be that little pocket community in between these behemoths that puts its heart into the green chat. To do that, we need some folk that are up for building something from scratch, to take a stab at making something that’s long-lasting and genuinely just wants to create that family vibe.

What’s in the future:

Bang. Imagine this, it’s the future - there’s 30-50 active, friendly, human beings in the guild. We’re smashing out the guild achievements, we’ve got a casual raid team (with learner plates on) taking down a raid wing and on top of this, a calendar filled with social events that require at least 300 screenshots.

Hell yes, it’s a beautiful thing. I’m weeping.

Generic call to action:

By this point, I’m assuming you’re either thinking ‘nah’ or ‘alright, I’ll give it a pop’. If you’re the former, I respect your wishes and I love you; let’s have a chat IN THE FUTURE.

For those that have said ‘hell yeah, let’s do this!’ - log in, search for ‘Campsite’ in the guild finder or whisper/mail me with your thoughts/wishes/commands.

Thanks for reading my thesis, much love!

obligatory comment about another non-rp concept trying to become a thing on AD, as if we didn’t have enough of these

Hey! I’d love to talk about this. Have been on this server quite a long time now and didn’t necessarily come for the act of RP, but due to how friendly the individuals were on the server.

What’s your concern and how can we avoid it?

You’ll find answers to that in pretty much every non-rp guild thread out there (unless they all got locked and taken off the forums by now), but to keep it brief… don’t let any of your members grief/make fun of RPers and punish those who do so, give RPing a go since this is exactly what the realm is for and it’s the very thing our community has been built around. If you don’t at all intend to roleplay then maybe just… create the guild elsewhere?

Certainly! I think the kinda guild we’re advertising above alludes to the fact that we wouldn’t be here to hurt other communities.

I have personally given RP a go in the past and have TotalRP3 installed to observe and appreciate the length to which RPers have gone to create their background. I found the act of actually actively partaking in RP a bit too much for myself, so participate from afar.

I think this is a little harsh. I may not have a desire to RP, but future members within the guild may want to and since the guild doesn’t have a specific one-note goal or theme, it’ll really be in their hands.

It isn’t harsh at all and is a valid question. Guilds like these, however harmless have ruined other dedicated RP servers. Any Roleplayers that have an interest in roleplaying would just join an RP guild not a social guild which means that hoping for future members (which you might not even get) to RP in order to validate your guild on an RP server is a bit foolish or naïve.

Not to be mean but honestly just go to a PVE centric friendly server. Not Argent Dawn.

In fact recently I have seen many non RP guilds pop up on these very forums which is alarming to say the least. Thankfully AD community remains vigilant of such guilds and defends what the realm was created for.

That’s the gateway, confidence grows. soon you’ll be finger gunning your way through the streets of Stormwind.
Or whatever else the Alliance do.

Be chill, make friends, and I’m sure people will move onto the next guild to be angry about. Just try not to let the angry yelling stop you from enjoying your time.

Genuinely, this is a pretty horrific way to garner any new support in that community if your stance is: “if you’re not doing the thing I want to do, then get out”. As someone that has tried RP and is still very much open to the concept, as well as many others that I assume start in a ‘normal’ social guild first, you’re not doing a fantastic job of being a decent, open representative for that activity.

I’m sad to hear that you feel the server is under attack or being overwhelmed by non-RP communities, but I would imagine the majority aren’t doing this out of any sort of spite - perhaps, just like ours, want to find a place they can have a conversation.

So maybe there’s a middle ground here - I’m certainly not going to take my 5 characters off to another server, but I’d be open to help encouraging and supporting the RP community as part of starting this new guild.

I didn’t decide that Argent Dawn should be an RP server, that was Blizzard Entertainment :upside_down_face:

This conversation has been done to death but there are numerous other servers that could offer you more like minded players than you would find in Argent Dawn.

Maybe we joined an RP server because the other servers look/feel dead, every player camps in capital cities and you’ll see the second coming of Jesus 1st before seeing people in other cities and zones…
I’ve also found that, imo, community in RP Servers seems to be nicer and approachable than other servers, I guess you and a few others in here are the exception and as someone said, having that stance is rude and will not garner any support or help the server at all…

I respect and don’t bother those who do RP, but I love to seeing people going around in other zones.
Also RP servers is where you have most people who care about and talk about the story and lore of the game, instead of “let’s just grind and rush the new dungeon or raid and then complain there’s nothing to do”, which is another reason I stick around.

This gets brought up very often whenever this conversation rears its head. “How is the community supposed to grow? It’ll grow stagnant without being open!”

These arguments always treat WoW as this closed space with no contact with the outside, thus needing these PVE/PVP players, because maybe, just maaaaaaybe they might try out roleplaying one day.

I played WoW on and off for years on PVE realms like Terokkar since Wrath, but I never had any real reason to keep playing until I became interested in roleplaying. I got into Warcraft lore and started watching lore videos. Then, I joined Argent Dawn and made my roleplaying character. The rest is history.

The idea that a roleplaying server needs to cater to the general playerbase, when this server is the ONE PLACE where roleplaying is still alive and well makes me fume. Oh? The community will die that way? Fine. I’d rather it die than be slowly diluted and become a ghost of its former self. I’m proof that you don’t need to convert already existing players into roleplayers by first exposing them to a roleplaying environment. If you’re interested in WoW roleplaying, you’ll find your way here eventually. Because it’s the only place we’ve got.

I don’t wanna sound like a complete jerk. You seem like an okay fellow and no one can stop you from doing your thing, but… Just. Make sure you leave RPers alone if they’re CLEARLY in the middle of an event or roleplaying. Don’t get in the way of RP. That’s the bottom line.

and don’t do the weird “haha i just like to watch Rpers xD” thing that you did a bit earlier, eggsaron.

getting treated like a zoo animal is rlly offputting.

I say, that those who do this, should be removed from the server.

Straight up, simple as, no questions asked.
Put them on a low-pop server and de-list RP servers for them.

Not been on the forums much?
Luckily it rarely leaks into the actual game.

Me: Awesome, a travelling RP guild with fun cozy evenings around the campfire!

Opens thread

Oh. :frowning:

Yeah, I literally thought it was going to be a caravan/travel guild with campfire events you could drop into & out of. Held in different zones every week so you can try different themes. It even has a cool name smh. Kills me.

OP should totally try that concept instead. It would not only suit the realm’s specialisation much better, it is also evidently something people want, and an empty niche.

Do it.

Uh… just my little bit: Have you people ever considered, that your “Everyone has to roleplay” and “No non Rp Guilds” sentences and the absolutely rude thing about telling people to leave the server if they dont want to rp Actually scares new roleplayers away? And is in fact, what enworsens your situation, instead of making it better? At leat that is my opinion.

And i do not pve or pvp at all… i only roleplay. Anyways, what i wanted to offer: Thread poster, i currently lead a small roleplaying guild. We however lack members currently. You have a concept but lack the Roleplay in it. Perhaps we could fuse the projects or coooperate?

yeah we have because it’s what nonrpers always say
but it’s simply not true and it’s just radical centrist posting

Hope that helped

I’ve seen this term thrown quite a bit lately and I was a bit confused. What does it mean?
