What’s the carrot, who’s chasing it? Players

So what’s wrong with the game actually?
A lot, there’s not a single system in this MMORPG that is using trade skills to craft weapons and armor that is still usable on high end level content.
World of Warcraft is pretty old game but it lacks of sight, where to move next.
I’m talking openly right now about trade skills and how not a single trade skill actually feels meaningful.

Dungeons and gearing systems

You need items from dungeons to make better weapons, better armor but we have crests, crest system is an upgrade system but it’s a very stale system. Why i think it’s stale, because whether you raided or did delves and mythic +, the feel of chasing something isn’t present.
World of Warcraft has this problem now, where to move next?
It’s a big question, and i know you are thinking it, in your board meetings every single day.
Gear in WoW is very easily explained, each difficulty level, hands out the same gear from the designed loot table. The carrot on a stick can’t be a mount, it needs to be a useful weapon or armor that actually has a meaning for that player who gets it.

Weapons

Tier sets are old and working system overall but now it’s time to touch weapons.
Weapons can be special for the player and they need to have a purpose, not just for one raid tier. There’s gotta be continuation that the player doesn’t feel, that he is not playing the game without the feel for not getting rewarded.

Blacksmithing and armor smithing changes.
Blacksmithers can now find different items from pvp, dungeons, delves or raids. These items can be combined to create weapons based on the specialization of the armorsmith or the weaponsmith.

As i remember my old warrior called Grandull from Kilrogg. I had a heart to play that character. Tradeskills need a lot more heart into them because you can’t shower the game with mounts, you need to give flint and tinder for the player, how to make fire.

More teeth, more steel.

Embellishment crafts are BiS pieces. Regular crafting pieces being only 3 ilvl behind and in quite a few cases bis regardless for some slots.

A: Why can’t it be a mount?
B: Trinkets say hello. Especially Spymasters.

Says who? If you mean “special” weapons like the Sylvanas dagger then please just shoo.

Its called crafted gear. Which everybody is using. You included.

This post wasn’t clearly made for you.

I somehow doubt that people who are getting involved in board meetings at freaking Blizzard would be bothered enough to do that “every single day” and also that they can even name the games their company is working on, not to mention discussing something as specific as gear acquisition in an underrepresented game mode in a single version of one of their multitude of games.

Only thing i wish is having a smooth progression with a good pushing …
TWW S1 as a pug player isn’t that.
They could pay me a real money every day to play and i’m not going to do it because it makes me angry everytime i’m trying to do keys.
So i stopped and they lost me.
My last +10 key was 11.11.2024 i have been not touching m+ to push since then cause it was annoying and toxic.
I’m sitting on 626 ilvl with no interest of doing keys to max out my ilvl.
i rather spend my time doing delves on my alts and one low key just for FUN.

And i’m also playin different games that respects me for what i want to do and it’s simple.

They had game in right spot for me in Dragonflight when it comes to m+.
I have been playing in PUG and i had so much fun pushing in S2,S3.
I personally do not care that those season were EASY as people said but it was fun playing wow again and progressing your character.

They compare +10 to old +20
but old 20 be it s2 or s3 in DF never felt like a toxic enviroment.
People had fun doing it and i had never a problem to find a group or get invited to a group.

Then for who was it made for? Your trade skill importance is in the game. Acquisition like Sylvanas daggers wasnt liked (even items with similar acquisition shared the same dislike because of their power level. Was also the same in legion with certain legendaries where your class was essentially worthless in comparison to peeps that got the specific piece and so on). Your carrot on a stick already is in the game.

Might have been your specs at the time. And toxicty was sky high in Dragonflight too and you managed to dodge a bullet with the groups is all.

I for instance can’t say I have encountered much toxicity in my pugs in TWW so far or with the puggies in my groups. Annoyed people sure, but thats about it. I can probably count the amount of toxics beeps I reported on one hand.

Food for thougt:

If you “need” a carrot to chase as a reason to play any game, you probably shoudln´t be playing that game in the first place,unless you´re getting paid for it. Because you´re obviously not doing it for fun, which is the entire point of playing games to begin with.

The carrot is completely worthless anywhere and to anyone, outside of your own mind and teh value you personally ascribe to it… Nobody on the street, at your job, in your bed is going to think more of you and that you´re a gigachad just because you wasted your life in a computer game and found some purple pixels. :wink:

Some people really need to open a window and let some fresh air in for a change .:beers:

BTW, just to clarify, at the end of the day people should play whatever they want, whyever they want.

But I´ve never seen children in a schoolyard playing soccer, Hopscotch or Pattycake just for the sick Epic loot, and I can´t remember the last time a Mount dropped when I was playing Monopoly or Scrabble.

And yet they still get played all over the world by millions every day, almost certainly by vastly more people than any video game, possibly even all of them combined :wink:

I’m a little sad this thread wasn’t about the trinket…

No, this post is meant for the Devs.

You’d have more luck unsubbing and entering a short reason into “other”. The Devs don’t read GD.

That is completely different ballpark. Ofc people should play what ever they want, when they want and so on. Reason i made this post is because the game needs fresh air, if you play for fun, that’s alright, doesn’t matter. The game does have some problems with the systems that are built into it. So give it or take, adding more depth to armorsmithing or weaponsmithing does give the game more spark.

Be in mind that i think these ideas with a designer mind and i’m pointing it towards the game developers.

I´m not against your ideas, I see some merit there… But also some misconceptions tht threaten to torpodo the ship before it leaves the dock… for example re high end crafting, “almost everyone” that doesn’t have access to M raid weapons has a crafted 636 embellished weapon or at least offhand if they didn´t pull a myth out of the vault (or as a caster fate-needle heroic from delves) :beers:

I do find some of the embellishments useful in the item table but crafters could still have more success, by adding value with their crafting choices, when items support each other in the node system. So if i create embellishment weapon, i might need gems for the item, to add more Primary stat, tertiary stats or completely specialized effects coming from the gems. On the other hand if i pick Tailoring, i could have a chance to add more cosmetic touch into a cloak, to make it transparent and have the cloak to increase secondary stats but with an updated cloak visual. It’s not just only about Blacksmithing, there are many ideas i have for the game.

And it would affect everyone so this thread is idd for me (and everybody else) too.

Even 636 Weapons can be bis (and are), if only for Raiding itself. Ascension is exclusive to the weapon.

So you would turn every healer into a balance nightmare because they would be spamming that for Leech on every slot and every DPS for either speed or avoidance (especially avoidance) during progression.

So you want more mats. Ye people gonna be “thrilled” about that. Right now you do add more stats if you’re capable of crafting a higher rank. Your specialized effect comes from the embellishment mats like ascension.

Then use the submit a suggestion button ingame.
