According to Danuser, npc statements are about as reliable as something a drunk guy in a bar tells you.
And in regard to Sylvanas we can easily expand this to character thoughts in books or devs statement in interviews.
Everything can and will be retconned to fit the current course of the narrative. And people will say it makes perfect sense if they like it, or cry foul if they don’t.
It’s sad, but it is what it is. The state of the lore is at an all time low.

that is some bs on blizz’s part then, why even write dialogue if its all to be ignored from a character perspective
