A character with that name already exists

Hello,

I was playing on Pyrewood Village when the server went down / had issues. I am not able to login with my mage now, getting the error ‘A character with that name already exists’

I can login fine with my alt on the same server. I tried the steps provided by Blizzard:https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/8387

This did not help, please advice

Same issue here, can not log in my 39 Warlock “Sensimilia” on Pyrewood Village.
Tried resetting my UI, logging another character in and out, even logging out for over an hour, nothing seems to work…

Same here, on Pyrewood. Been trying to log for 3 hours now…
Sadly i got day off to game abit and got punished by Server DC and message “A character with that name already exists”

exactly the same, and ive wasted all day not being able to play. this is pretty stupid now

Same here. Steps from support didnt work. Also on pyrewood here and in mid air. And ofcourse no respons about this from blizz.

My hunter on Pyrewood has not been playable for 6 hours, please sort this out

its been about 19 hours and i still get the same message, seems like were going to have to wait till a GM makes the character unstuck.

Probably not gonna work aswell, I’ve made an ingame ticket, GM responded “that he moved my character and it should be okay te log in again”.
But as of now -almost 24h later- I still can’t do crap on my Warlock, I’m forced to play on alts because I still can’t log her in.
So I responded back that he should not “move my character” but simply hard disconnect it or something! But no more response back :S

I fear we all need to wait untill the server goes for some kind of maintenance again…

If I lose all my weekend playtime and can’t play on my main until wednesday I’ll unsub instantly.

I only play with my main, I payed my subscription to be able to play and without my main it’s like not playingg for me, and If this f* joke goes along for more time, this game can go to hell and will play on wmane/ascension again. At least there I can get a response from the team in least than 8h.

It’s ridiculous that pservers have way better assistence than a billion dollar company.

I just received an ingame whisper from a GM while I was playing on my alt. He “resetted” my char and moved her to SW.
At that very moment, when I checked Social (I’ve added my alt as a friend) she was still online, so I had no hopes.
But when I logged in, it went through and I was back in SW.

I truly hope that other people from this thread are being helped soon aswell! Happy gaming ya’ll!

It was fixed for me, I think it’s very important that if you do make a ticket for this you mention the error message you got. If you just say your character is stuck a GM is supposed to move you and that’s it. The error message should prompt them to do more than just that.
