Given the current situation and the duration of this for the next few months I had a couple of thoughts regarding Cataclysm Classic… on what I would like to see applied as “feedback”
Speed
Just look at Raid lasting 5-6 months as with Ulduar or how it will be even worse with ICC (which in any case the actual duration will be shorter than OG). Times have changed and people tend to finish content much faster.
One of the many criticisms leveled at Cataclysm is the amount of little content compared to the length of the expansion. PLEASE DO NOT INCREASE THE AGONY.
The duration of a major Raid must not exceed 3 months. Everything must take place as a season. Every 3 months a new Raid, dungeons unlocked, new loot, new “Defense Protocol” difficulty and new things to do. Cataclysm itself is a controversial piece of content, and the current situation with Wrath Classic outlines quite clearly how overdoing in “time” no longer works. This is not 2008!
Cross-realm
We already have the cross-realm Dungeon Finder but this too, given the current server situation, often disfavors constant spam because the waiting time varies a lot, always towards long queues (for DPS).
Please introduce full Cross-Realm now. Don’t make the mistake of “LFD is not the experience we want in Classic” and then introduce it in the last patch when it was too late. Raid, Party, Dungeon everything must be done in the same faction regardless of which realm you are in.
Nobody wants the “original experience” of Cataclysm. The same motto at Blizzcon was “changes” so let’s make these changes now. The tmog is not enough, the experience must be modern, the realms have no sense of existing and if they do, in order not to risk excessive queues, then we let the netcode allow you to play with others from your faction regardless of which realm you are in. There are many realms that are now in permanent decline and were in decline even months before ICC.
Beta
The fact that the Beta has undergone a deal in the roadmap does not make me happy at all. It also means a delay in the original release plans for the summer weeks. Don’t delay the beta any longer and let people play. And yes for those who “play something else for a while”: thanks for the contribution, it doesn’t change the point of the thread.
no it doesnt. they just realized that releasing HC self found mode 1 month after P2 of sod is smarter than releasing that version close or right after the start of sod P3.
a beta is not used for testing nowadays its almost only for advertisement purposes. nothing will change in terms of prepatch and cata release because they just put the beta in a time window where the attention to it will just be lower which is fine its a beta.
you can quote me on that later if it doesnt go this way but I am sure it does no need to panic. It also means we will get no news until then which could be good anyhow if they decide to change things internally to add or remove.
One thing you have to take into account here is the raid difficulty. Especially for heroic raiding, the raids will generally become more demanding. 12 resets per raid tier might not be enough for the non-ptr dwelling guilds to progress entirely. Yes, players are better, smarter and have better tools these days, but I still believe we will see several LK HC types of bosses that to this day proves a challenge.
As a last note;
I’m not quite sure what this is supposed to mean. But if you think of raiding as agony, perhaps you should find some other in game activity that suits your interest better?
The Agony are months of nothing. I love raiding and for that when I saw in these weeks a long decay of in guilds PUGs and etc give me bad feels. 3 months is retail-like. You have time for do it and give at good players incentive for push next raids without “dead times”
I actually cleared all pre-nerf heroic content except for HC Ragnaros in both tier 11 and tier 12 back in OG Cata (then took a break during DS progress). So I know what kind of content awaits.
But that was on a 20-25 hour raid schedule during progress. So it will be interesting to see what modern raiders can do with the usual 6-8 hour raiding schedule that is standard today.
I don’t raid or PvP, but as a person who regularly boots up older games like Gothic, Mass Effect 1, KotOR, VtMB and the like, I can fully understand people who remain on Vanilla/TBC/WotLK.
For me personally, Era is where I’m staying long term. I love to level and quest in old Azeroth. I will take breaks, but I’ll inevitably return every so often to revisit the old world, just like I do with old games like the aforementioned. They are just digital worlds that I love, in which I feel comfortable and immersed.
