They are steep prices but they are in truth only one example of what the Black Tithe can be, the Tithe can be used to demand anything the Ebon Blade or the Dark Grail might need, usually the most common things needed are remains for minions, so that’s what we’ll ask for most often.
The Tithe could be anything, Horses so that they can be transformed into Deathchargers or skeletal mounts, maybe there is a Tome of some sort of oocult knowledge one of the Grail Knights needs that just happens to be in the study of a local sage.
While these things are not as interesting as the whole deal with the devil vibe of my earlier examples they’re still just as important.
Besides, if the Black Tithe creates IC trouble for us, more power to it at least we’ve generated a story to follow.
That’s precisely why it’s a good thing imo! We are DK’s, and without conflict we don’t really have a basis for RP. What better way to create that conflict than to present others with morally questionable dilemmas that gives incentive for thoughtful and engaging roleplay, that has a risk/reward-esque system attached.
You failed to notice which part of the Black Tithe™ I poked fun at. It is what Mord posted as examples of payment (and come on, we all know those are going to to be the default tithes) and not the idea of paying a high price for help from beyond the grave.
I’ve been doing that for years, so a little difficult to be against such a practice.
However, the when, the how, and what of the tithe is what will make or break this idea and, as you said and I’ll quote:
“…create that conflict to present others with morally questionable dilemmas that gives incentive for thoughtful and engaging roleplay, that has a risk/reward-esque system attached.”
If that part is done right, you have the above result. If it’s done wrong, you get a “Are you f**king kidding me?!?” and it all comes crashing down.
So last night the Dark Grail travelled back into the Plaugelands to hunt a death cult of Windrunner loyal Forsaken who may or may not have been practicing necromancy.
Things fell apart quickly however when we were ambushed by a group of Scarlets who allowed the Forsaken to escape, after a tense battle the Scarlets were captured and taken prisoner for what ever dark plans the Dark Grail had for them.
The Scarlets were able to escape but not all of them left unscathed and unchanged as the Dark Grail left their mark on one Crusader.
I’d like to thank the Crimson Inherent for the RP and hopefully we’ll get to clash with them a few more times in the future.
I have seen the Dark grail around Duskwood ever since I started to rp within the zone, they appear to be a tight knit Dk community and I hope that they succeed in their ventures.
So you take the Phylactery of a Lich into battle with you for no other reason than you killed the Lich?
Is it not a worry that the person carrying it could be slain and the Phylactery falling into unsavoury hands? Or worse it being used to return the Lich to the (un)living?
I’d rather not get into it too much OOC here as we try to keep an air of mystery about the Dark Grail and what can and can’t be done with it, there have been steps taken however to prevent the Lich from causing out right chaos.
but even the most careful of precautions can be undermined, the Dark Grail has been known to whisper when people mention it by name, the Grail may not be as nuilified as the Knights believe.
