A few broken hunter abilities ?!

Right so i’m no rank 1 hunter or anything but i think a few things are broken and from what I’ve read on other forums it’s been like that for a while now?

First of all Feign Death.
What is the purpose of this ability since 50% of the time it doesn’t work? The ability doesn’t say “50% chance to work” so it should ALWAYS work, yet so many times it simply doesn’t i keep getting hit after i press it, and NO it’s not right after i press it, the mobs are at a distance and they still attack me or i press it and simply nothing happens, the sounds works my character goes “AAAH” and nothing happens. I’ve read on multiple forums this is broken for a while now, good thing wow has 14 years now, no time for a fix. Oh and let’s not forget that when i use this in PVP it takes 6 seconds usually until i am able to mount cause apparently i’m in combat, thought this was supposed to get you out of combat gg. Anyway moving on tooo

Hi-Explosive Trap
Another ability that has 50% chance of working especially in PVP, yes i know rogues can use Cloak etc etc but when i put it in the middle of Eye of the Storm where the flag is i expect at least 1 of them to get knocked off? Guess what 50% of the time it’s like it’s not even there. So nice ability. And the last ability i wanna talk about another knock-back that doesn’t work …

Bursting shot
Again i know about Cloak etc etc, and again when i have multiple targets in front of me i expect at least a few of them to fly off of me, but guess what, half the time it doesn’t happen, the ability clearly says “Fires an explosion of bolts at all enemies in front of you” so it should at least push away a few of them. Not to mention the times where they get knocked for literally 1 inch… and I’m just sat there like “oh that did nothing”, also sometimes there is no terrain near them so i don’t understand why they don’t fly and just walk an inch.

Anyway guys, hope you enjoyed my little rant here, and I also hope that i will find some amazing answers that show me what a noob I am and how it’s all working as intended.

Just been on a few more forums before posting this, all of these 3 abilities have had complaints and nothing has been done, how can one class have 3 broken abilities that nobody looks into?

Concerning Feign Death, it will cancel its effect if you move. In my experience, mobs need you to be around 1 sec in feign death state before resetting. So, if you do the slightest movement within that second, the effect of FD is cancelled. Also, you need to stand still before casting it, if you use FD while moving, it won’t work most of the times. And by not moving I mean literally not moving, not even make your character turn around etc. :wink:

I appreciate your reply, but the ability shouldn’t really work like that, i mean it doesn’t say “need to be in feign death for 1 sec before enemies to go away” also the moving part it’s a bit weird as well, when i press it, it should just drop dead and loose all aggro automatically, cause that’s what it says it does, they could just make it so that you get out of it just by pressing SPACEBAR and nothing else. All i wanted to point out is that the ability is kinda broken and it could be fixed but it’s been broken for years and nobody did anything about it which is very weird for such a highly praised game.

An additional thing that’s been kind of bugging me is how slow Tar Trap is at deploying. The enemy is always 75% through the area of effect when it actually deploys.

I’d much rather have it be a “hamstring” type effect that was applied to people affected for x amount of time.

Hunter is the most bugged class in the game everyone knows this, don’t expect anything to be done about it though. Pretty sure the team that designs the newest store mount/pets is 10x the size of the bug solving department.

In regards to Bursting Shot issue; the issue itself has existed since Pandaria and it affected traps at the time, it’s to do with elevation on the ground you are walking/running on, if it’s flat then bursting shot should have no issues but if it’s slanted where the target is slightly above you or below you in terms of elevation, you will find at times it will miss because the ground not being even.

In a nut shell the ‘projectile’ only goes in a straight line, it will not go up hills or down hills unless you manually aim using your mouse but even then if there is a bump in a surface and both you and target are near it then the projectile is likely to miss ( It can’t go through it).

Thank you for your really helpful response, but now i’m wondering since we all know what’s wrong now, could there really not be a fix for it? It gets so annoying in certain situations when you can actually loose a duel against someone because of it …

Zelrath - I was trying since Pandaria to have the elevation issue fixed and even made a video of it, if you remember glyph of Black Ice ? it increased your walk speed if you were walking on your own Ice trap AoE it was very useful vs melee because they could not touch you as you were constantly on a speed buff but due to elevation issues the buff kept coming on and off like a light switch and was very off putting, so it never did get fixed they got rid of the whole mechanic, which is standard Blizzard fix policy.

Do share that video with me if you can please, I wasn’t playing hunter back then but i do get what you mean and i did see a number of good ideas in wow getting removed forever because they couldn’t be bothered to fix a little issue with em, very disappointing.

This is my other hunter and in classic survival mode :slight_smile:

Notice the constant drop in speed, this was the elevation issue with traps, players /mobs could just walk over AoE and not give a sh*t

Thanks for the share, i’m starting to understand what people mean about hunters being broken for a long time xD, i also understand how blizz thought of the future of hunters since then, remove what you cannot be bothered to fix and add more broken stuff, no wonder people are so happy.

Harpoon is not working properly since 8.1 either (in arena) , 50% of the time the animation shows but I don’t actually move anywhere. This used to be the case before only when rooted, which is fine but now it’s just randomly failing regardless.

That wasnt the case in the old days.
Feign death was instant removal of target and threat, in PVP too.

Machinegun fire maybe also bugged. Sometimes (often) i see the animation and i get the CD, but no arrows or dmg goes off. Im within range, but maybe serverlag is the problem so im actually outside the range?
