As someone who left this game during TBC, because it started to be a problem on RL, due to addiction, I don’t agree very much with quitting posts.
Imagine if I had written a post quitting the game in June 2007 and someone remembered me when I came back during Legion launch.
“Didn’t you said you quit the game, 11 years ago ?”.
Yes there’s people that leave and never come back.
That’s why we have a smaller playerbase today.
But it’s obvious that the people in charge of the company don’t care, so long as the profits are there.
I see WoW as just another game.
If I get bored with it, I just pick another title.
If I miss it, I come back.
People don’t need to know about it.
When Age of Conan came in, people were saying it was the “WoW killer”.
Posts were saying:
"Goodbye, broken game, I’m off to enjoy a better game "
In fact how many times this has happened ?
It’s every time a new MMOG is launched.
I saw some gameplay of FF XIV and honestly, it’s not my type.
I highly suspect people are picking FF out of frustration, from WoW. Not because FF is better than WoW.
Now let’s imagine the impossible happened, a company managed to bring the same game as Blizzard but with better graphics, new engine, better gameplay and systems but just a different name.
I honestly wouldn’t be here writing:
“Why I quit WoW”.
I would be gone in a minute.
Other company is offering a better product and I’m not married to WoW or Blizzard.
Besides Blizzard, send time to time questionnaires to players with inactive account, asking what they would want in the game. I got that in my UK account.
I told I loved MM Hunter, but it wasn’t as good as BM spec regarding solo play. But at the same time I understood MM spec can never be like a Frost Mage.
Their answer: you can now play without a pet and get the lone wolf buff, or summon your pet if you want to play safe.
I think they are listening.
But they have their own vision for the game. In the end it’s their game. Not “ours”.
Cheers.
