The Underlight Angler (the artifact fishing pole from Legion) has this really cool effect that turns you into a fish, granting underwater breathing and fast swimming, and this effect still works to this day, except that now that fishing poles are profession equipment, my Underlight Angler is always equipped in the profession tab, and i never get to actually “equip” it to trigger this effect. The only way to trigger it is to take the pole out of the equipment slot and equip it in a weapon slot.
Does anyone know a macro that would allow me to keep the fishing pole in the profession equipment slot, and still activate the effect?

I think you need the “fishing for attention” buff that you have to reapply after combat by either fishing or requiping your fishing rod.
Dont know of any macro, but the iskaar in northrend do sell a fishing rod that gives you waterbreathing & it still works when placed in the tool slot.
Its a bit of a rep grind, but none of the daily quests were that tough so you should be done in a week or two.
could you fill that slot with a different pole so no room for angler pole
