Hi folks.
I did a search of all of the NPCs named ‘Akunda the X’ before Akunda the Exalted dies. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you as a player could not take this name as a Zandalari PC, but originality is always good! I was looking for the list myself as I intend to make a Zandalari devotee of Akunda.
For the record, I am not absolutely sure that all of these are actual NPCs - I searched Wowhead, and do not have the inclination to check each name individually.

Uhm, all those guys with the name ‘‘Akunda’’ got their names reverted back to their old ones once you freed Akunda.
Akunda wiping the painful memories of his followers away is a normal process - as an example, the Akunda devotee in the Battle for Dazar’alor uses it as a mechanic.
Akunda the Exalted took it much further by wiping Akunda’s memories and those of his rivals, but there are still those who take the name Akunda. Jorak in Vol’dun does this, as an example:

Total headcanon but I enjoy thinking of ‘Akunda the X’ as a temple title, a little like them adopted by some groups of Buddhist monastics*.
Probably its use will be controversial in Roleplay because Blizzard never really clarified to what extent Akunda the Exalted subverted the tradition, but I don’t think it’s a big leap that the odd, befuddled Zandalari will prefer it either way.
*My uncle went from Brian to Avasubandhu.
I certainly am! A Zandalari exile would be very likely to want all memories of the crimes that got them there purged. Dazar’alor would not welcome a criminal, but Akunda the Remorseful might well return.

How do you plan on naming your character? Akundathetiny? Thetiny? Just curious.
I successfully managed to get the name Contrite - that’s his particular Akunda title.
Contrite means remorseful or regretful - it seemed a fitting choice for an Akunda title.
I think it’s a cool idea. Ever play planescape torment? I imagine being a follower of akunda is like that.
My Zandalari’s name will be Akunda the Ligma.
