A list of everything that's wrong with modern wow

Read. His. Post.
No really. Actually read it.

What he’s describing is NOT in any of those games.
A persistent world yeah, but not a ‘reacts to your input/actions and stays changed forever’ kind of world.

Again… Read it. Actually read it.

For you maybe. Not for me. And that’s the beauty of an mmorpg; all kinds of different players can interact with (or ignore) each other as much as they wish.
So my way of playing isn’t any less relevant or meaningful than yours.

Of course I didn’t LITERALLY ask for it. Duh. And I’m quite sure you know that.
It was just a way of saying ‘I like what they did with phasing and such’. It makes the world feel more alive. And yeah, I really couldn’t care less what some stranger did in a zone. Not one bit.

Enjoy the report.

I’m not bothered with it, I never said any such thing. I just don’t CARE about it. And to me: A changing world that reacts to my actions > seeing another player. For sure.

If I walked into a zone the first time and discovered all the content there is gone because another player already ‘saved the zone’, then I’d be pissed off and demand my money back.

Those games do have that. Have you ever played Dark Age of Camelot RvR where you capture each others’ forts in a massive persistent world, as a simple example? Have you ever played EvE Online, which literally has almost no content of its own but works entirely off a player driven economy?

WoW used to be more like Everquest than any of those games, true, which is probably why people asked for us to have more impact in the world, but it always did have consistent, single entity NPC’s, which is what the OP says and nothing more.

The OP does not, at any point, say that your actions should have a permanent impact on the world, just that it should have an impact somehow, even if only for a while. You entirely made all of this up and told me to “go read it”.

Of course I know that, which I why I said nobody asked for it. Not even you.

Except I can’t because the ideas and systems that you’re defending has sharded my entire community to pieces.

That’s cute.

Then stop playing MMORPG’s. They’re not for you. Yes, I really mean this. If an MMORPG can provide a changing world, so much the better, but if you think a changing world is more important than a persistent online world, you’re lost. You don’t belong here.

Nobody, and I mean literally nobody, is saying that a zone should suddenly be “done” and have nothing left to do in it for anybody who arrives after it’s done. That’s why we’re saying it’s less important that the zone changes than it is that it’s a persistent online world. That’s one of the compromises you make.

Now you can actually make perpetual content in a zone that changes over time - see for instance the Isle of Quel’danas or the Isle of Thunder, but that’s besides the point.

Tbh you do deserve a report for being really rude and aggersive.
I might not agree with some of Tah points but you are going overboatd with your anger.

His first response to me had “get a clue” in the second sentence. He’s nothing if not deserving.

So that warrants you calling her stupid ?
Hmm ok .

I said he came off as stupid when he says that the games that inspired WoW have nothing in common with WoW. That is a stupid statement. Doesn’t mean he’s generally stupid or that I have called him stupid as a person. He’s clearly not, he just knows nothing about the history of this game and is grossly uninformed about it, yet has a really strong opinion about it.

I’m really, really sorry if calling an opinion stupid, i.e. uninformed, is cause for gross offence. Next time I’ll refrain from that and simply call it the opinion utterly without merit, if it helps.

Well its your forum account say and do as you wish but people have had holidays for less i know i speak from experince .

How about you let Blizzard’s community managers handle it and stop concern trolling me? Thank you.

Trolling you ?wow i think you need to chill out just offered you some advice to calm down .
People like you are just toxic and think its ok to be rude welcome to ignore .

This forum doesn’t have ignore…

Oh, whatever. You do you I suppose.

Concern trolling is pretending to be on my side by offering me advice to “calm down” (I’m not angry at all btw) while wanting me to be entirely quiet because you don’t like what I have to say.

Stop it.

This is an excellent list, and I agree wholeheartedly.

And learn to read please.
I agree with what you say but not how you say it.
The new forums do have a type of ignore btw.
Im not silenceing you i just warned you that your tone is banable .
But sure carry on as you are .
I personally think your views are good just you the person are not and i just offered some friendly advice .
But you can now place that advice where the sun does not shine .

A few posts up you said you totally disagree with OP.

The problem with this concern trolling is that I have learned how to read, and therefore this isn’t going to work.

Am I passionate and incredibly annoyed about the state of the game and all the terrible reasons people have invented to defend it? Yes. Does that mean I think Tahra is generally stupid? No, he’s entitled to his opinion.

But WoW was never meant to be the game that scratches the itch he’s looking to get scratched. Given that, I think he should take these kinds of ideas elsewhere. They’d be absolutely phenomenal in Skyrim or The Witcher 3, or many of the D&D-inspired party-based RPG’s, or any number of other games, but not WoW.

If it can scratch them and those it was meant to scratch, so much the better, but the ideas that he is defending, which are stupid ideas in the context of designing an MMORPG like WoW (and that’s what I said, I did NOT call him stupid) are ruining the game’s ability to scratch the itch of people who like MMORPG’s.

My reaction is frankly quite similar to what happens if you say “sharding is awesome and should totally be a thing around Blackrock Mountains” on the Classic forums, and they ain’t suspended, so I have no reason to believe I will be, either - but if I am, I’m just going to have to get over it and try again later.

In 14 years in wow forums never heard of “concern trolling” is this a new thing i mean heavens forbid anyone can offer some advice only to be called a troll.
But whatever there is a fine line between passion and being rude.
Yes the OP views are in my view wrong and he speaks for us all which is wrong.
You did bring up some good points until the sarcastic side of you came out and started being angry.
People are allowed different views and if you cant take that you being angry and sarcastis isnt going to win anyone over.

I agree with pretty much everything you said, as someone who has played since Vanilla with many extended breaks.

World of Warcraft doesn’t feel like an MMORPG any more, and honestly it kind of isn’t.

Generally the people that want WoW to be a proper MMO again will agree with you, and the people who disagree are likely heavy solo players who don’t like interacting with other people for some reason.

The OP, 3-4 posts down from main post: “These are my views.”
You, after arguing for a few hours in the same thread: “HE SPEAKS FOR EVERYONE.”

… legit.

People are so used to the so-called “quality of life changes” made to the game that they have lost all knowledge and feeling of what an MMO is and should be.

Convenience Simulator 2018 is not quality of life.

Run to world quest, click button, instantly join 30-40 person raid, kill boss in silence with 30 other unknown people, leave. Things like this are good for who and how?

Few hours ?
And Legit ?
Did your priest used to be called Bluesomething ?
Because if so you always go around trying to pick fault .
I admit i havent read all the OPs post purely over his “im a good judge”
I cant wait for classic so the lot of you can piss off over to there and spare the rest of us the “classic wad so much better”
I mean you quit 2 months ago and still here so you must have an active account to a game you dislike.
If you and the OP and others dislike retail so much quit until summer 2019 but spare us your bile and negativity over a game which some of us still enjoy.
Really makes me lol so much that you guys keep active subs to a game you all hate so much talk about addiction.

P.S

2nd line of first post …“WE all love”

Legit (i cringe and die inside whenever somebody tries to be cool and edgy typeing that especially somebody late 20s early 30s)

No.

It’s a discussion forum. If we disagree with one another, we’re going to try to pick holes in each other’s arguments. That’s what discussion is.

You literally just told me that I had to learn to read, and after half a dozen post you begrudginly admit you didn’t read the first post in this thread.

Come on, man… xD

What is with this argument of “we” meaning “literally everyone”? I only sparingly say “literally everyone” although when I do, I mean it, but “we” is not literally everyone.

There’s two kinds of “we” in the English language: inclusive we (refers to the listener and the speaker, plus some others maybe) and exclusive we (refers to the listener and some others, but does not refer to the listener).

I’m pretty sure he used the latter.

None of the definitions of “we” implies literally everyone.

I can’t speak on behalf of others, but I’m here to
a) Discuss WoW and offer help here and there
b) Express my displeasure that Blizzard have just told me that, if I want to play WoW how it was originally marketed and designed, I have to play 14 year old content.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I like classic WoW and the content in it, but I’ve done that stuff already, and I’d like to play the modern content with MMORPG-like systems. It doesn’t even have to be a carbon copy of the classic systems, but it just has to be a little bit more over in that MMORPG ballpark.

Now, you think that’s bile. I understand that. I understood that even when you were trying to somehow convince me you agreed with me (i.e. the concern trolling phase). Unfortunately, I really don’t care.
