A little lost and a tad dispondent

New expansions, accelerated levelling etc have always been interesting and usually fun. Watching the epics get replaced in new expansions by greens etc have always been a part of the upgrade cycle.

The latest squishes etc are an attempt to reset and rebalance for new and old alike, but having played from vanilla (just), each squash in ilvl and now levels, feels a little as though the effort has been lost and somehow it’s like starting from scratch. The achievements along the way seem somewhat reduced. Oddly and I’m not sure why, but I feel a little bit robbed.

Yes I’m probably getting too old for wow, perhaps it’s just time to hang up the daggers.

I hope that things pick up soon, but this feels like a weak end to the current expansion with little to aim for in the next, after all the following expansion will probably just reset everything again.

Have fun all and gl

Prepatch always feels like that to me. It’s kind of twilight zone time where my standard thought to everything is “meh”.

Looking forward to the expac but I never got all the people begging “prepatch naooooo!”

Prepatch sucks. We are WAY less powerful and there’s nothing new to do. Score.

We’re basically a live PTR for SL now. Two months of feeling weaker incoming.

So much this.

And this.

Prepatch is the November of WoW

No sun - no moon!
No morn - no noon -
No dawn - no dusk - no proper time of day.
No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease,
No comfortable feel in any member -
No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees,
No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds! -
November!

For me it was all about the customization and new hunter pet tames.
As for regular gameplay; I’ll just keep doing what I was doing before the prepatch and I will continue doing that until the scourge event starts.

I’m sorry but how do you make both of those statements at the same time?
You’re implying past expansions didn’t feel that way, when as you said in your own words you replace your raid epics with greens.

I don’t see the correlation you’re trying to draw to the level squish.

weaker… yet M+ is so much easier

Daggers? girl you a paladin!

Don’t sack it in mate, keep going! You haven’t lost anything but numbers are getting too high so we needed a squishy back to something reasonable.

Each level or so means something now. A new power, or talent or passive, and people are excited to play alts again.

You havent started from scratch, consider it like… legendary mode in skyrim when you get that ability to reset everything but more powerful. Or like Overwatch when you reach level 100 the next level is 1 and boom you get a new shiny star.

Don’t go, keep playing

I’m finding it a lot of fun!! Gonna make a 19 twink and gear him up in all sorts of gear, maybe legions gear with gem procs, or BFA gear from freehold. The possibilities are endless

Yet you will play Shadowlands so your comment is somewhat taken with a grain of salt lol. Complain and make a statement but you’ll be there.

Each expansion comes with new contect etc that used to build on the story and the char progression.

So new weapons, armour etc are a part of that progression. That’s sort of the thing really, it felt a progression.

By squashing the levels and ilvl, this feels less a progression and more like the past is disconnected from the char.

So I think I’m separating the continuity that we did have vs the replace and rebase that it feels we now have.

The current part is particularly disjointed, as others have mentioned. We now have reduced numbers at a time of no new content. So I agree with the twilight zone impression Grainne mentioned above.

I bought the expansion when it was first available and before the announcements were made, but I take your point, why do this and not play.

The reality is my subs were due and I had the cash. I’m not sure I feel the urge to continue, but that was the point of the title really in the OP.

Sorry, this is my main, tipple is my alt for transparency. I swapped so the dagger comment would make more sense.

I think it’s so we can get that whole meh feeling out of the way before launch

They readjusted M+ for prepatch.

I’m sorry your reading comprehension is low. I’m complaining about prepatch being dull not about the expansion with, you know, new stuff to do added to the game.

But yeah. Lol.

We have always had the gear reset though, all those wonderful purples/blues being replaced within a few days with questing greens!! The difference here is just the level squish and the longer than anticipated wait for the new content.

I call the feeling ‘end of expac blues’ it’s the time when people are so fed up with the current expansion and are looking forward to something new. So a lot of us get fed up and despondent, for me personally this is a good time to take a break, do other things and then decide if we want to carry on in game or find something new. I hope you rekindle your love of WoW and find new excitement in SL

MEh tomato tomahto, you’re complaining nonetheless. It matters not, you will be here for Shadowlands whether this pre patch is beautiful or turd.
