A little rant about mistweavers

First of all: I’m coming at this as a 4/8 mythic player and this rant is ONLY about the state of mistweavers in raid. I have been onetricking this class and spec since MoP so I’ve seen plenty of ups and downs along the way.

Mistweaver right now plays amazingly. The gameplay loop (with rising mist) is fast and enjoyable, excellent design all around. You’ve made an itteration of this spec that feels fresh but also brings me back to a mistweaver of old.

I love weaving melee abilitys between casts and having an seemingly endless supply of mana to boot. A good minigame inside the core rotation!

But there are problems, I’ll start listing them now. And I do hope that someone at blizzard reads this:

  1. Invigorating Mists being scaled down past 5 targets: Why? The entire point of Mistweavers core gameplay is to generate and upkeep a high number of renewing mists, why can’t we reap the full benefits if we play well?

There are talents in our tree that helps you generate more renewing mists, but due to scaling they become HPs losses. This feels horrible.

Right now it is optimal for us to play “unoptimally” and try to stay on a lower count of active renewing mists because its more effective healing.

Imagine if Disc got punished for having more atonements out? Or a Resto druid for having more rejuvs on the raid.

Fix this. It’s the biggest priority out everything in my rant.

  1. Why do we still have tea of plenty/serenity as a CAPSTONE talent? They are never used in serious play, and the design is just terrible.

  2. Revival is such a bad cooldown it actually made me chuckle when I checked my logs last night. My weapon enchant did more overall healing than my 3min raid cooldown…

  3. Breath of the jade serpent is unironically the worst healing talent in the entire game. Remove or change it.

  4. Our numbers are just bad. Mistweavers bring close to no utility into a raid (you removed the avoidance/healing taken) in TWW. We live and die by the healing output we can crank, and it’s worse than all healers currently.

Rant over. I love this spec, and I will always do. But right now it feels like I’m griefing my raid team when I play with them - only because I play a mistweaver.

TLDR: remove invigorating mist scaling, remove dumb capstones, tune our numbers.

Agreed. It used to be clunky even when it actually moved people’s HP bars. If you pressed it too soon most of it went into overheal, but wait one more tick of the raid AOE and 3 ppl are dead. At least now we don’t have to worry about it since it does practically nothing in raids.

That spell has been removed in legion. If you mean Yu’lon’s whisper then I agree. I tested it while standing in a group the whole fight and it did around 0.038% of my healing.

All in all I prefer the soothing mist raidbuild where I just channel all the time, since it lets me focus my healing instantly into people that need it rather than just blanketing the group. but that’s just me.

here is good explanation why MW is bad

Are we not kinda used to caster MW monks to be bottom tier, and not desired by anybody?
I am also trying out the mythic raiding this season, having 3/8 in what 2 or 3 raid nights, letting my main prio M+ quite far behind. MW feels good now, especially not being OOM after 15 seconds, like in DF season 1, but the HPS i get out compared to the effort i put in, is not something that i like.
Rerolling an evoker seems more and more like a plausible thing for me .

Healer logs aren’t like DPS. If you take +1 healer you’ll all be doing blue/grey parses, and if there’s little incoming damage some classes will snipe most of it.
