A picture is worth a thousand words

Especially when you type a thousand words on the picture.

Jokes aside, it’s important to me that the truth I laid bare for all to see in this high quality meme is never forgotten by the humble denizens of the WoW forums.
There’s a very important life lession to be learned here:

Just because you enjoy something doesn’t mean it’s good for you.
This applies to fast food, sugar, drugs, crazy girlfriends with incredible curves, and Legion.
You may enjoy it in the moment, but you leave intoxicated, and in a very sorry state.

So yes, I get it. You enjoyed Legion.
Suramar was fantastic, you loved class order halls, and you welcomed the addition of M+.
But the design philosophy of Legion is what defined the path that World of Warcraft took for the next 6 years. Everything you disliked about BFA and Shadowlands traces its roots back to Legion where it was introduced.

The first step in moving forward is to acknowledge that Legion has a problem.

No, not really.

Shadowlands was disliked mainly because of its terrible writing and “out of nowhere” lore. With that SL didn’t feel like WoW but like a different game in a different setting.

BfA was disliked because it implemented the things from Legion wrongly. I called it when they replaced the artifact weapon, which was interesting, with an amulet, which was boring.

“burrowed” power :upside_down_face:

I think some of the things they did were with good intentions, and for the right reasons (not all).

If you take the “AP grind”, people wanted something to aim towards so that they didn’t feel “done” and quit or lose motivation.
This was why AP was introduced. What happened? People farmed themselves into a grave and complained they were “forced” to.

There is always going to be a tension between well intended things and the people with no impulse control.

You take no Legion!

Tbf I don’t mind being the chosen one, but it annoys me that all players around me are chosen ones too, so it gets silly. I think they should only make me champion, and all other players should be adventurers /s

It wasn’t much better in Legion, where the player character was given Doomhammer and Lightbringer.
Also the “Legion invasion” was pathetic, they could only assault a small patch of islands, and even then, they remained contained on the shore and never conquered the other areas we visited there.

BFA was a Legion patch, not a proper expansion.
BFA is Legion in its purest form.

And after the end of the expansion we have to suffer Blizzard surgically extracting these burrowed powers from deep inside us.

Sorry I could not help myself

It’s not a typo.

Borrowed powers are now dead and buried.
They are therefore burrowed powers.

Burrowed means that something is alive and can dig itself into the ground of a creature like a mole or a parasite.
I think the word you meant to say is Buried.

Btw I am not trying to be word police here, just pointing out. I agree with the OP image.

Neat.

Let us smite the infidels together, then.

I would had also put the class order halls inside the horse just because it was the doubling down on the garrison system

I’m not gonna lie, I really liked the whole Xalatath quest line that extended into BFA, but you’ve got a point there

class halls & suramar questline is better than anything dragonflight offers , at least you had those 2 .

I am sorry sir, but this is where you lost me.

Almost everything I disliked about BFA isn’t in the game anymore.

BFA was the best expansion we’ve ever had either way.

Even I couldn’t make that one sound convincing.

I’m 100% serious

pinky promise :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Legion was the best and worst start of a philosphy.

The content drive wss high the hype train didnt end, the story kept going without any cop outs they did the story regusrding the races fantastically.

But the thing is when u look back on memories u tend to focus on the highlights and not the things u didnt like.

  • rng legendaries had continous complaints.
  • this was the rise of “revert bsck to MoP” uproar surround class design.
  • players considered the expansion extremely alt unfriendly in first half due to AP grinds.
  • Survival hunter and outlaw rogue amassed complaints.
  • people free boosting players in m+ for MoS runs to maximise AP grinds.

The thing is, because it had a content drive that kept players playing to the very last time, not only this but changed the end game content forever, change dailies design forever, it changed so much. Its considered one of the only expsnsions ehich massively changed the game also.

Which will naturally highten opinons around it.
