A platform for buy orders

Hi fellow WoW players!

I am creating a platform for buy orders in World of Warcraft. I noticed how buy orders are requested by several parties and Blizzard doesn’t seem to implement it anytime soon, so I’m doing it myself.

With this post I’m trying to achieve two things:

  1. Find players who will help me test the platform in it’s Alpha state
  2. Get a confirmation from Blizzard that the platform is okay to use and/or some new boundaries to which the platform needs to comply.

It is important to know that everything, except for the matchmaking, happens in-game. I’ve written a quick ‘How does it work?’ at the platforms website, but since I cannot seem to include links to this post you’ll have to find it at my twitter: @wowquote2

An addon for the game is in the works if the support for the platform is great enough. I would love to see your opinions about a community platform like this.

I think it will immediately fail on step 2, but I do agree this is something that definitely should be in the game already.

I checked your website. Why is are you using both Google Analytics and a Facebook Pixel for tracking? Also, with no privacy policy whatsoever.

The idea itself is OK and might have use-cases.

Afaik as long as it’s only about gold transactions and giving players a platform to meet and trade in-game there shouldn’t be any issue altho i suggest you contact the support and ask them directly.

Really like the concept (we talked about it with another forum user a few months ago iirc) but here are some of my thoughts :

  • Would be cool to have a panel on the website which would show the biggest or latest active quest/work orders on your realm / on all realms from your region. Just a nice addition to the front page imo.
  • Create a WoW community along with the addon or whatever support you plan to create ? Would help with the communication & trade
  • The expulsom calculator “force update” bugged when i tried to use it : 504 “Gateway Time-out The server didn’t respond in time.” on the new browser and got some crazy values on the non-updated window after pressing f5 ( 99999999999 G 99 S 99 C for the shimmerscale and transmutation)

While the timeout isn’t that surprising, the value i got from the calculator should be unintended right ?

  • Some transactions may need more than the COD mail option as the amount of gold you can send is restricted
  • Add a nigh mode è.é
  • Perhaps add a optional contact option should someone want to advertise their products (like unobtainable recipes ?)

The crazy gold value is a placeholder for when an item is unlisted on the AH. This is an issue that needs to be resolved for those calculators. Also the ‘force update’ buttons need to be tweaked to handle all the AH data more smoothly.

I will add your suggestions to my task list. Those are good suggestions!
