I m new in my guild, and was invited to the new raid , normal, minimum ilvl 365. I joined, the gmaster though changed to heroic. However, i was performing really well although i was with the lowest ilvl. Actually i was 5th in damage. And suddenly the guild master says to me “you have to leave please because we have the rule nobody to join under 370 ilvl.” And i left of course.
I mean, i remember in the old years 2008-2012, what really mattered was the performance… Now it s just the item level?
Some people do just see the item level and assume you’ve earned it, therefore do the best performance wise, heck, having an item with better stats -or- an armor with the best traits will generally do better than a higher item level.
There are people out there that want performance over item level, even though they might want a “bar to entry” level, just so you may have enough to survive at least, I remember back in Legion that some of the mechanics would one shot or near kill me that would otherwise, not or should not be a problem.
People don’t also take into account people play a class that they don’t know how to play, get a boost for gear and still can’t play, unless they learn on the go, otherwise they QQ about how bad a class is, rather than their skill.
TL;DR people are just ignorant and the quest for players to choose performance over ilvl continues.
I wouldn’t be that negative about it: yeaah, sometimes people mistake ilvls and knowing the game, and punish good players unnecesarily.
However, take into account that sometimes this kind of rules are put in place by the guild masters for other reasons: for example, establishing objective criteria to establish who deserves an spot when there is too many people for the raid slots, etc.
It may be not that they were discontent with your performance, maybe they were just trying to be fair with the people that had to wait for that ilvl before raiding and that you were taking their spot from.
