A question regarding perception

So let’s suppose your favorite/main spec became bottom tier and it wont be buffed for a long while, do you:

A. Reroll to another high tier/meta class ?
B. Take a break from the game ?
C. Switch to another spec you rarely played within that class just so you won’t abandon your class ? (Like for example if the dps spec is the one that’s performing bad, you switch to tank, or vice versa)
D. Switch to another content where that spec might be performing better ? (For example if it’s bad in pve, you give pvp a try)
E. Occupy yourself with fun activities like achievement hunting, pet collecting, gold making, roleplaying, etc, until the spec is brought back to its glory ?
F. Ignore how the community views it and just do what you do best, which means remaining loyal to that spec and playing it despite being declined for most keys you sign up for, or most arena teams you apply for ?

Let me know how you react in a situation like this, or if it has happened to you, what exactly did you do. I wan’t to see your opinions and how you guys perceive something similar and which decisions you take.

What level of content are you playing?

If its not top 500 mythic raiding or pushing higher than 15 keys it doesn’t matter except to you.

That wasn’t the point of this post. I want to see opinions, and it is also pointed towards the ones that are pushing for high end content.

I select the answer F because I am a filthy casual and don’t realy care about high end content. I do what I enjoy and it’s just leveling new characters, playing the story on my main ones and farming some cool looking gear.

Paladin have been made terrible at various stages of in this game. I never give up on this.

PURE dps classes will always be viable because they can bring their own class utility.

while (shaman, druid, priest, paladin, warrior, monk, demon hunter, death knight)
if (dps==nerf) respec || reroll;
else continue;
while (mage, warlock, rogue, hunter)
if (dps==nerf) dont_care;
break;

Retribution since Vanilla.
I have played other classes as alts, but this fella is & always will be my main.

Don’t care in the least.

I only really do things with groups in the very early stages of a new raid tier so knowing tactics is more important than my class and Ilvl is more important than itemisation.

To me what class I play never really matters. All that matters to me is clearing the content with people I enjoy playing with

It sure feels symbolic that this post is coming from a Fury warrior. Stay strong buddy.

Myself currently facing an internal battle between options A, C & F. BUT I think we’re missing an option here:

G. Speak out, as much as possible. Let the community know that you’re not happy about being ignored as a class/spec. Sure, Blizzard might continue to play deaf, but unless we’re cancelling our subs we should continue to make an effort to be heard.

I stick to my resto shaman. I dont pug, so community perception doesnt affect me anyways.

It happened to me a lot of times, it happens during the latest few expansions too. As holy pala I can’t compete with other healing classes (esp. monk, also on meters). Now, whether the problem comes from my play or the spec - or both - remains open. I’d like to heal on higher keys but the struggle I feel compared to how easy other classes do it, make me not to want to do it at all. It might be l2p, but I haven’t found proper advices. Especially in pvp, I met several high rated holy palas but none could (or maybe wanted to) help a bit with advices. And I keep receiving very different opinions: one say the spec is nerfed, the other say “it’s quite fine”. So because of this mess I chose

E. Occupy yourself with fun activities like achievement hunting, pet collecting, gold making, roleplaying, etc.

And no, I’d never reroll. Playing holy pala it since 2008 after all.

Depends if it’s still fun or not.

I played assassin when it wasn’t meta and had a blast with it, I played arms since vanilla and stuck to it no matter how high or low the spec was, be it deadly glad season in wotlk or when they over buffed it at the next season when charge > bladestorm could actually kill someone at 2.4k rating.

When they had killed prot warrior , i at first tryed going fury war for two month i lasted.

We the warrior forum persisted and made ourselves heard i even went on twitter etc… i took many a sentence expressing myself the wrong way ,too harsly amongst others sentence: At first they were reluctant with we don’t know what kind of change we could do and if we ever d something we dunno when.

We knew they the team wouldn’t listen to us quickly without pondering but that is natural patience is key, the hardest part being relaying the infrmation than something is off/broken.

kept playing as fury and fortunately, i say fortunately i still had a 110 boost so i didn’t take broken tier, meta game: i went for what i wanted since a long time healing not with heal n time and as human so Holy pala since it was the only role i had not fullfilled all those years it was very harsh time winning brawl and stuff with 60 k hp and receiving all kind of insults, being kick abused from bg if many players vote kick you active or not you are doomed… and stuff but it was worth it now i arena and heal mythic etc,do what i love and barely ever play alone without being grouped on my loladin.

I only take a break when all my class and spec are broken and also when the content coming doesn’t appeal me like when they launched elves warfront : i couldn’t care about it , no pvp map , no class changes , no raid or something decent so.

That very patch kicks, funny when they are back on the wall they start to deliver, pvp and raid wise to some extend class change to , those revamped maps are awesome.

Very solid answers guys, i gotta say i’m liking them so far. Keep them coming :slight_smile:

B. Take a break from the game ?
cause while I am on a break I can consider how much do I want to come back to my favourite but nerfed spec.
may be it’s not the spec, but I am too tired to enjoy the game and need a couple of days.

At any rate it is very important for me to play what I enjoy visually, mechanically and lore wise. Could never play warrior for that reason or lock or shaman. Even if they were made the best 3 specs for each role, cant enjoy piloting them enough. I am sure everyone has some preferences.

i had a friend in early/mid TBC, she played ret and liked playing ret. the main tank told her many times change to holy. she told him where to go as only a welsh person can!

at that time i was a prot pala but didn’t get told to go holy as much.

this rogue has too much invested in it to give it up even though it sometimes feels like rogues are picked on unless you’re top tier skilled.

unless you are a flavor of the month player, just stick with what you like playing. most classes have had their ups and downs since vanilla. and if you have a group of friends or guildies, they will usually not care what class you are as long as you do your job.

Part of the reason why I play druid (switched from priest to druid early in WotLK) is because it provides a degree of protection against the class having no role/spec that isn’t in at least a decent spot. It’s the only character I have been playing since the end of WoD.

My favored spec is feral, which hasn’t been in a great place in BFA. I did M+ and raids with Balance in BFA so far, which I don’t really enjoy even though it’s in a great place, so lately I have been healing (in M+), which actually is a lot of fun. It had been years since I healed with the druid. My second spec will be feral again, just waiting for a second trinket so I can sensibly raid and do M+ (with friends) as feral, though i’ll probably mostly be healing in M+ for now (unless other friends who only play healers are on). Feral isn’t as potent and rich in utility as Balance, so for anything higher I’ll likely be healing.

If none of my specs worked for me, I’d probably take a break from the game.

Either F or B. I will never understand the appeal of being a fotm player, knowing you rely so heavily on changes to your class, and feeling like you have to ditch the class you love because the latest hotfix made it slightly worse than the next.

Resto druid forever.

I stick to it no matter strong or weak. Very often I’m strong though, but there’s been times of so called weakness. I don’t tend to notice though, feel like I can work around it either way.
