A question surrounding RMT and the recent Gallywix drama

I would like to question on the recent Gallywix community ban, as to why a certain person (ex method RL and new Echo RL/GM is not being punished for his part in the RMT (real money transactions).
Everyone involved within Gallywix who was doing these RMT’s which are against ToS got perma bans. So why is it, that someone on the other end of the RMT has had no repercussions for his part in this? Is it because of his status within WoW?
A quick backstory for those unaware, with the recent investigation and ban on gallywix, pictures got leaked with proof of this person/Method buying ingame gold from them during the race to world first Ny’alotha so they could buy BoE corrupted gear and transfer characters with said BoE’s to their server. This person has also admitted himself on Twitter that he done this and it’s true.
So my question regarding this is as follows, could I hypothetically go onto a website, buy ingame gold and not fear any kind of suspension, or is this ignorance/turning a blind eye on blizzard’s end only kept for those you consider a “celebrity” or “status symbol” within WoW?
I haven’t named him because of blizzard naming policy, but a quick google search will tell you who he is, and bring up said screenshots and twitter admissions.
Would love to get some blue post on this addressing this issue although I feel like Blizzard are trying to brush this under the carpet and hoping people just forget about it.

Do we have confirmation they weren’t punished?

Just yesterday he was posting on his twitter regarding beta gameplay, and again the day before, so it’s safe to assume he hasn’t been punished for his part in this.
Also, three days ago he was live on twitch playing WoW.

Fair point. Even then I’m guessing nothing will come of it. Blizzard seems to design the game around esport and the upper crust like these people so I don’t think that relaxed moderation for them too is that far fetched.

That’s my point though, I doubt anything will come of this either, but how unfair is that? It’s one rule for them and another for us more casual players. People got perma banned for their 50% participation in a RMT, while the other party involved in the other 50% walks away with a smile on their face knowing blizzard won’t do anything to them.

Snitching rots soul, my child
Let go!

Either this or it’s one of their [Mass-Bann’s] which could mean that it may happen to be delayed banns.

Possibly because banning those that have purchased gold for things like this may drive more players from the game than Blizzard is prepared to lose? Or there will be a ban wave happening later since the investigations were still on-going, and Scripe will get caught in that?

It is up to Blizzard how they enforce their own rules. And they rarely seem to act swiftly.

They could be holding back whilst investigating fully because last time they took swift action against a well known player without doing their homework properly the backlash was pretty harsh.

Maybe different circumstances and there is an admission but Blizzards PR department will have told them not to rush in with all the evidence first this time I bet.

However, do not think this sets a precedence for getting away with buying gold. Just grind grind grind and stay safe.

Rules are rules and should be adhered to.

If they bought gold with real cash then they’re as guilty as the ones selling it and they should have some sort of action taken against their account.

If they have broken the rules then it’s in Blizzards interest to punish them to send a message to everyone that this sort of thing won’t be tolerated and also to reassure the players that stick to the rules that here’s no favouritism or nepotism.

Blizzard took action towards those who broke the rules (and became IRL millionares), and also put forth a vague threat to those who might enable future RMT heroes to rise.

Just to linking my reply to another thread regarding reporting someone who bought gold via RMT as I was interested as to what would be said regarding this.

I added links and screenshots to evidence my claim too, if you wish to do so I’d advise doing so through the following link which was given to me by the Blizzard employee who replied to myself.
