This percentage is correct. Have you all forgotten that time we were given a truth serum and asked our sexuality/gender identity/which side of the 90’s console wars we were on?
Where did they say they don’t know any LGBTQ people?
I don’t ever remember saying this, it is far from true. This is why I took your reply Starshade as just another one of your usual replies to anything I post.
I’m going to boldly state that probably half of Argent Dawn’s population consider themselves something other than just straight.
yea gamers
They targeted gamers.
Gamers.
We’re a group of people who will sit for hours, days, even weeks on end performing some of the hardest, most mentally demanding tasks. Over, and over, and over all for nothing more than a little digital token saying we did.
We’ll punish our selfs doing things others would consider torture, because we think it’s fun.
We’ll spend most if not all of our free time min maxing the stats of a fictional character all to draw out a single extra point of damage per second.
Many of us have made careers out of doing just these things: slogging through the grind, all day, the same quests over and over, hundreds of times to the point where we know evety little detail such that some have attained such gamer nirvana that they can literally play these games blindfolded.
Do these people have any idea how many controllers have been smashed, systems over heated, disks and carts destroyed in frustration? All to latter be referred to as bragging rights?
These people honestly think this is a battle they can win? They take our media? We’re already building a new one without them. They take our devs? Gamers aren’t shy about throwing their money else where, or even making the games our selves. They think calling us racist, mysoginistic, rape apologists is going to change us? We’ve been called worse things by prepubescent 10 year olds with a sh#tty head set. They picked a fight against a group that’s already grown desensitized to their strategies and methods. Who enjoy the battle of attrition they’ve threatened us with. Who take it as a challange when they tell us we no longer matter. Our obsession with proving we can after being told we can’t is so deeply ingrained from years of dealing with big brothers/sisters and friends laughing at how pathetic we used to be that proving you people wrong has become a very real need; a honed reflex.
Gamers are competative, hard core, by nature. We love a challange. The worst thing you did in all of this was to challange us. You’re not special, you’re not original, you’re not the first; this is just another boss fight.
Yeah and I’m British. That’s like two of the letters down already in just this thread.
In the PCU - which is less than a tenth of this server - I can think of about six queer people without even thinking that deeply about it.
It’s actually very not normal to have a community of people where people being openly queer isn’t just a normal thing.
hate to see it
did u miss this despite me posting it twice?
i’m very good friends with both gay and bi men (and probably more that i don’t know about)
I obviously know ppl that are lgbtq on the server as well (for example, the OP), but they’ve never come out to me thru discord/other chats. I’ve just snapped it up
I’m part of the LGBT community and nobody’s come out to me either. It isn’t based on who you are but more on circumstance and chance. Doesn’t mean someone’s a bad person or not worth coming out to or whatever.
That’s the third time that someone’s taken ‘you should examine why that might be’ to mean ‘you’re a fascist monstrosity who tazers babies’ and I’m getting very tired of it
everybody has implicit bias that they should take time to examine, gamers
Lots of us are safe to come out to but, at least in my case, everybody who is LGBT I’ve known has already come out.
I;m not saying you’re saying we’re bad people specifically btw.
That’s kind of how that phrase comes across.
Perhaps you should examine why your comments received so much hostility
You should examine why a neutral statement about examining your speech and friend groups ilicits such a defensive response. : )
People interpret things very hostile. I personally took it as you pointing out that it’s worth reflecting over, not why it’s the case.
Said reflection might still end up with “It’s just not really happened” but it doesn’t hurt giving a thought none the less.
Only reason I can see someone not coming out to you is because you may not be safe to because you’re a bad person or something. Don’t see any other reasoning behind it personally.
The original comment implies that the person is the problem thus it is not entirely neutral.
didn’t come across as neutral at all to me, it just sounded really condescending
