[A] Returning player: Resto druid LF cross-realm raid group progressing The Eternal Palace HC

Greetings,

Short summary:

I’ve returned to the game 2 weeks ago after two year break. Now I would like to return to raiding. I’m feeling totally clueless while trying to return raiding habbits in LFR and don’t have the gear yet. I’m looking less competitive group than my current guild.

My preferences:

Starting time: 19.30-21.00
Ending time: before 23.30
About 3 raids per week. Prefer not raid on FRI or SAT but not impossible

If you are interested, please link your guild info/forum and leave contact information.

Thanks!

Longer story

I’m 43 year-old father of two from middle Finland. On my “own” time I like to play strategy & board games and raid. There is plenty more to share but I’d rather not share it with whole population of Internet.

I was introduced to WoW in spring 2009 by a friend who was raiding in Unity Path which was the raid guild of Earthen Ring (ER) at that time. I started playing WoW to raid and this is the reason why I play still. Initially I wanted to tank but when I was at level cap it was half way to expansion and no-one would recruit a tank with no gear or experience. Eventually I was offered a healer position in Titan Alliance and that was the single best thing that has happened to me in WoW: I really enjoy playing healer and that is what I want to continue doing. I like to tank and don’t mind stepping in if needed but skill is long way behind on what I have for healing (I have basically no experience.)

When TA quit raiding (due to lack of people) late 2010 I’ve raided short period in Vita Activa and Keepers of the Oath which both quit raiding roughly in two months of me joining. Since then KOTO has moved to Silverymoon and is today raiding again. At that time I decided to stop killing raid groups and took a break from WoW. Before that I did raid the instances from Naxx to ICC. The problem generally was lack of people almost all the way. There usually was small team of core players but not enough to keep progress constantly going. Most of my best raiding moments took place in Ulduar though. And best WoW related moment took place in RL (Sweden) but those are stories that deserve more time.

During the break I tried other games like SWTOR and WOT but none really did the trick. So I returned to WoW when MoP started. At that time I joined Perpetual Motion which had some friends from previous groups. PM died to the familiar reason: not enough players and difficult to recruit at ER. At that time my progress at SoO (normal) was 7/14 and I really wanted to see rest of it and do HCs. Team Awesome took me for trial and I immediately was at the progress on HC (I actually had 2 HCs killed before I got to see the instance through). I was far behind in gear and as I found out also in output. This was same time heaven and hell for as I for the first time had to push my limits. And they went further. I became regular member of the team and was in for the next two HC first kills. And most of the wipes. But then ER hit again: few players got aggro from RL. Connected realms where not there yet and recruiting good players was impossible. After painful weeks -during witch more players left- we got one more kill. It was time to leave ER with a group of friends. So we scouted for guilds and found Sanctuary of Dreams on The Venture Co. Through vigorous recruitment process I was glad to get in. Guild was filled with good people -as most guilds seem to be- and had solid progress during MoP and early WoD. Then core members started to fade. All the familiar signs were there but even when I knew this I decided to stick around until the end.

Next stop was my current guild Original. I got recruited via this type of add. The progress was way beyond anything I’d seen before. Guild was really competitive and raid leading was great. Raiding there improved my game a lot. Then I switched work and real life became priority. When I couldn’t focus on raiding properly raiding competitive was not an option for me.

This is the situation today: I’ve had two year break from the game totally. I’ve now returned and would like to come back to raiding. I want to play is less competitive my current guild. Also I’m “out of shape” as I haven’t been raiding. This means that a bit patience is needed while I recover the raiding skills.

To finish few thoughts about raiding. I come prepared and I’ll be there on both farm and progress nights. I will make mistakes but I’ll learn from them as well as doings of others. I respect others as long as people behave in decent manner. I welcome feedback and help from everyone. I have own ideas which may have value but I understand that there are many ways to get things done. I love (good?) humor and don’t mind being target of it: the tree will slash back in friendly manner. I also capability to shut up. I’m drama free and expected members to be treated fairly.

Thanks again for those you managed to read this far!
