A Review of Midnight's current UI: A Promising Start That Can't Yet Replace a Legacy

Will they though? Don’t they need access to combat data to display dots and buffs and so on?

Then maybe the meta will switch back to only pulling a comprehensible amount of mobs at a time and blizz will have to adjust the timers. Win win.

It wasn’t damaging the game though, if anything content like mythic+ stopped the game from becoming stagnant and dying.

Not about meta though. Its fun to have huge packs, especially for tanks. If we go back to small packs I expect that most M+ enjoyers will find it boring and quit.

I am confused Tah. Please name ONE example.

Because all the mechanics that DO need a WA, for example Fractilius, Nexus King, Tindralm and Fyrak in Mythic (just to name a few) are simply not there in Heroic (and Normal/LFG).

And I am unaware of ANY Heroic Raider that uses anything other than DBM as a reminder addon. In fact, the Heroic Raids have been puggable since MoP basically.

I am confused:

Because DBM ← Default UI. Nameplates ← Default UI. Damage Meter ← Default UI. CD manager ← Default UI.

Im not sure you are aware what direction Blizzard is going. Because none of the addons are going anywhere. They are being incorporated into the base UI of the game.

So if you thought you could do Delves with out Nameplates and DBM (like today) that will NOT be the case in Midnight. They will make Delves assuming you got the “skills” to click “options” and configure the base UI.

I am a tank, and I hate it. I want just a handful of mobs at a time, so that I can actually supervise all of them and see which one is casting what - can’t do that with 20 mobs on me at once and nameplates all over the place.

Let me guess. No addons?

No, what good would that do? Won’t reduce the amount of mobs or nameplates, just makes them look weird and not-WoW-like.

That seems a bit odd to me, i thought “Stack 'em up and AoE 'em down!” was considered boring dungeon gameplay, or am i behind the times now?

I’m not saying the game should go back to BC, with “Sheep star, sap moon, focus skull” and stuff (That was also boring, but in another way), but toning down the AoE-fest a bit couldn’t hurt, maybe allow for more of that expression of skill that people who like difficult content like to boast about.

And that will be accessible. It was explained in the recent interview that Preach had with one of the devs that they have this new tech that allows for that.

Agree to disagree.
When devs need to make content a certain way because they know their players will break it with addons; that’s damaging.

I wasn’t talking about mythic+. I don’t know why you’re dragging that into it.

That’s been clear for a while. :kissing_heart:

We’ll see about that.

If there is nothing else happening then yes, however pulling those 20 mobs also includes them casting all sorts of different things that you have to react to, thats what makes it fun.

There is an expression of skill. All that CC, DR and utilities a class brings gets utilized. Why do you think I rerolled to paladin? Because of the riveting rotation? Nope, because it has a Stun, a Cleanse, Heals, External deffensives, an AoE stop, an immunity etc , and all of it gets utilized.

Download Platter, you will be able to see the different casts more clearly + Mobbuff tracking.

Literally the worst m+ design. Just a reminder: TWW S1 was like that.

Also ToP, one of the most boring dungeons ever.

Because the majority of high keys, much like mythic raiding, require WAs for most players to complete effectively. They were never designed for anyone but the top 10% however anyone can attempt them because of WAs and addons, this is not damaging the game, it’s making the game better by opening more content to more people.

So, if that’s your argument, you should agree that ‘opening up the content up to even more people by including these options in the base game or just making the overal experience more approachable’ is even better. Right?

If it was in addition to allowing people who want to keep their addons, sure, but restricting people who want to play the game as it is now, is not going to do that.

If Blizzard is so confident their changes will remove the need for addons, they should let both exist side by side, since no-one will use the addons if Blizzard’s ideas are so good.

I grow weary that people constantly seek to have all the things lost by this change replicated in the new UI. Or worse yet, think that is Blizzard’s goal.

The reason why they’re doing this is to kill Plater and WeakAuras. You’re not supposed to be able to do it.

If they implement every single thing that you liked about those addons, nothing has been achieved except annoying everybody, including themselves.

No. They will not be. This has been said point blank.

Maybe. But you did not address my questions though.

Let me get this straight. You think that in Midnight they will not change Delves such that you need all those Blizzard UI addons.

What makes you think you need 3rd party addons today?
