[A-RP] Amirdrassil - New Home, New Hope 🌳

Amirdrassil, “Crown of Harmony”, will be a new night elf area on the Dragon Isles. Though some of us wish their shiny hub would be in Kalimdor, let’s try make the most of what’s given, and live the big developments through our character’s eyes. Amirdrassil is going to be a beautiful zone, with new tales to be weaved around it.

With the holiday buzz calming down and people showing much support for the interest check, it’s time to have some public roleplay initiatives for Amirdrassil! The events will be largely focused on Patch 10.2.5. when Amirdrassil receives more buildings and NPCs, with plenty of interesting roleplay locales.

Instead of a big two-day event, there’ll be smaller events hosted on different days, to give more roleplay opportunities in case people need to be pulled into a raid group due to sharding. For the sake of convenience and scale, these events will be for Alliance players, with the intent to help roleplayers connect as the night elves inhabit their new home.

A ceremony for setting small nature boats to travel a stream coursing through Amirdrassil, each leaf-sailed vessel carrying a message about one’s most ardent hope for the kaldorei’s new home. Before setting their boat on the waters, people are welcome to share their hope with the others.

Date: Sunday 7th January, 8pm Server Time
Location: Riverbank north east from where Bel’ameth will be

No signing up in advance. Due to sharding, a raid group will be formed & filled on a first come, first served basis. Hosted by Acrona (as Priestess Hidani)

Kaldorei crafters find themselves hard-pressed to produce enough goods for the rapidly growing number of settlers arriving at Amirdrassil. Some crafting materials and items are sorely needed sooner than later. With a shopping list in hand, a group of volunteers take a portal to the bustling Stormwind to buy supplies. What could go wrong?

A light-hearted event DMed by Acrona. The group may come to organically interact with other roleplayers in the city while going about their business.

Date: Friday 12th January, 8pm Server Time
Location: Starting where Bel’ameth will be located in Amirdrassil

Sign-up required. Max. 14 spots.

Are you in a desperate need of a spoon? A kettle? Herbs for your back pain? A blanket? Maybe you’ll find it at the trade night!

There’s no predesignated vendors; instead of a market where one purchases goods with coin, the idea behind the event is for people to primarily exchange items for items. It’s meant to be the sort of an event where a character trades a backpack for a cooking pot et cetera, so please give your in-character inventory a think! What items do they own, what do they lack, and what are they willing to part with or make for the gathering?

Craftspeople can also take commissions for custom items to be made, an initiative for follow-up roleplay individuals can sort out themselves.

If you’re out of ideas for items, you could take a look at the DnD Adventuring Gear page for inspiration!

Date: Saturday 20th January, 8pm Server Time
Location: Bel’ameth

No signing up in advance. If sharding is active, a raid group will be formed & filled on a first come, first served basis. Hosted by Acrona (as Kaitalos)

Mordent Evenshade suggests that with so many promising young students of the arcane gathering in Amirdrassil, they may need to establish a more permanent place of learning. In the nearby the lodge you can find book piles, Highborne Lorekeepers and a Shen’dralar sorcerer.

Inspired by these details, this one-off event is for donating study material and equipment to help school new night elf mages and lorekeepers in Amirdrassil. The items, which could be anything from spell books to enchanted puzzles, will be received and cataloged by Acrona and Lintian. The catalog will be shared after the event.

The event is aimed at characters with interest in arcane magic. People are encouraged to mingle with the other attendees; ultimately the gathering is an excuse to help make connections with other characters sharing something in common with your own!

Date: Wednesday 24th January, 8pm Server Time
Location: Bel’ameth, in the lodge near the mage portals

No signing up in advance. If sharding is active, a raid group will be formed & filled on a first come, first served basis. Hosted by Acrona & Lintian

A workshop session in a social setting where characters may work on hand-crafted ornaments, to be kept, gifted, or used in the Remembrance & Revival event the following week. Tools and some materials will be provided, such as stones, feathers, beads, dye materials and wood. There will be opportunity for companionship to gather your own crafting materials from nature.

Date: Saturday 27th January, 8pm Server Time
Location: Root-Bound Sanctuary

No signing up in advance. If sharding is active, a raid group will be formed & filled on a first come, first served basis. Hosted by: Morningtide

An event aimed at druidic characters, though their trusted friends are also welcome to come along to spectate.

The event begins with a ceremony honoring the Wild Gods, after which the druids move to building their sleeping chambers in Amirdrassil’s Barrow Dens, aided by wisps capable of animating trees and expanding themselves into rough-hewn structures of living wood and stone. The already existing nooks in the Barrow Dens will be used to illustrate the relative position of the dens, but it’s stressed that these player-made chambers are headcanon similar to people using in-game buildings for different purposes (homes, guild quarters, shops, etc).

People will be given the opportunity to emote the construction of their den, illustrating with words how it will look.

Example: ‘With the aid of the benevolent wisps, the nook in the wall deepens. Thick roots crawl from the cracks in the ceiling, curling into a glowing blossom that lights the den. Thick cave moss rushes to carpet the stone floor, providing a natural mattress for the druid’s slumber.’

Date: Sunday 28th January, 8pm Server Time
Location: Barrow Dens

No signing up in advance. If sharding is active, the raid group will be formed & filled on a first come, first served basis. Hosted by: Meladriss

Some of you might remember Captain Lunarbay, an NPC from the Shipwrecked Night Elves RP campaign. There’ll be a ceremony for Lunarbay’s new ship in Belanaar, and afterward a fishing competition (with /rolls) to gather food for a communal feast. Your hook might latch onto anything from a soaked sock to something trying to yoink you under…

Date: Wednesday 31st January, 8pm Server Time
Location: Belanaar

No signing up in advance. If sharding is active, a raid group will be formed & filled on a first come, first served basis. Hosted by: Acrona (as Lunarbay).

With everything that has befallen the night elves, it’s likely everyone has lost someone close. There are moments to look back, and moments to push forward. The event is split into two parts:

Remembrance in Bel’ameth, organized by Acrona (as Priestess Hidani). On this occasion, people are invited to hang up hand-crafted ornaments on a wisteria tree, in remembrance of someone they’ve lost long ago or recently.

People are welcome to say a few words about the person they’re remembering. After a week, the ornaments will be moved to the grove where the Revival ceremony is held.

:memo: People are welcome to say a few words about the person they’re remembering. To ensure the event proceeds at a nice pace, please prepare your item description emote, and the possible short speech, ahead of time!

:ghost: It would be lovely if some people summoned Wisp companions as the remembrance proceeds. The summoned wisps could represent the spirit of someone who the attendee knew, or an unknown wisp drawn over from the boughs like a curious onlooker. Regardless, the event is for honoring lost loved ones no matter when they passed on.

Update: There’s 1 wisp NPC referring to a character perished during the Cataclysm. With that info the wisps don’t have to be limited to elves perished during the Fourth War.

:menorah: After your character has hung an item in the wisteria, it’d be appreciated if you could help with placing a Leylight Brazier (toy) around the tree in a crescent formation. IC these are night elf braziers. Acrona/Hidani has some to trade if you don’t have one!

After the remembrance, a procession takes the attendees to the next area:

Revival ceremony is held on a sheltered grove outside Bel’ameth, organized by Morningtide and Tiaryn!

In the theme of renewal, a beautiful ceremony will be held to inspire the attendees to nurture Amirdrassil as they obtain a seed for planting.

:bulb: Please bring an off-hand lantern item, preferably green, blue or white . If you don’t have one, don’t worry, you can get one from Morningtide.

Date: Friday 2nd February, 8pm Server Time
Location: Starting in Bel’ameth

No signing up in advance. If sharding is active, a raid group will be formed & filled on a first come, first served basis.

:left_speech_bubble: Morningtide and Jai’are have created a Discord server for roleplay in Amirdrassil! It’s not specific to this event series and not a requirement to participate. If sharding persists on Amirdrassil however, it may be very useful for finding roleplay outside events.

Though whatever plans you make will no doubt need to be corrected once the zone is fleshed out in the new patch and the new content is implemented, I’m absolutely on board, and would be happy to assist with the event if needed!

Do we all need to finish the raid or will it be unlocked once patch progresses?

What we know so far:

  • Currently on live servers when you finish the raid, Amirdrassil enters Azeroth for your character that completed the raid. You see NPCs hosting a ceremony and celebrations that the tree (zone) has bloomed in Azeroth. There’s a dwarf NPC that alludes to building happening on the island.

  • On PTR, proper buildings have been added to Azeroth Amirdrassil zone. The place is devoid of NPCs. Some people stated they had to use Farsight to explore this updated version on PTR.

We don’t know yet if the area becomes accessible to all in the next patch, or if it will be tied to character progression. Will keep a close eye on what happens and make plans accordingly!

Love this idea!

Will definitely be there when the time comes! Brilliant idea <3

Since by happenstance Nerathion is already on Dragon Isles, he’s probably helping out there already so I’m also tentatively interested!

The hesitance mostly comes from, well… not being subbed. But all the Night Elf stuff has made me want to resub, so who knows! Might be the perfect place to dip my toes back into the RP waters as well.

Makes sense tbh, and do you intend to keep it nelf only? Or will nelf/cenarion affiliated chars will be welcomed?

Guess I need to get my Nelf levelled and mogged up properly

I’d be very much interested in this! Recently returned to the game and loving it, and I’d love to get in touch with night elf RP, its community and players.

Since the theme of the event would be night elves settling in, to create that atmosphere it would be preferred if people attended mostly on night elf characters, at least for the first day. Though there were also Horde partaking in the initial blooming celebrations, I don’t plan on making this a big cross-faction event. Which reminds me, Nifre intends to make a neutral Lunar Festival in Moonglade, the home of Cenarion Circle!

Night elf afflitiated characters, such as worgen part of night elf guilds, would be welcome on both days.

The details will be ironed out when we learn more about Amirdrassil’s progression and the NPCs within, to create an event with an atmosphere that fits the momentum for the race.

I honestly think this is a good idea to do! I would be intrested.

Great initiative. Count me interested.

My character would definitely be there. Though any planing should really be postponed till we know how Amidrassil will look like on Azeroth. I do not want to be pessimistic but who knows if it becomes a true Kaldorei zone or a neutral dragon zone.

Either way it will be the new Kaldorei capital.

It doesn’t matter if its becoming a zone akin to the Nighthold(hostile to the Alliance in the overworld) or a full on neutral Dragon Isles zone.

So to organise an event like this is the best way for Kaldorei RPers to move forward with accepting this as our characters new “home”, instead of, for example, Mt. Hyjal.

As much as I rather had an updated Mt. Hyjal as new capital, I will deffo join your event, should time allow! My Highborne needs a new place to call home aswell, with Teldrassil burned and Eldre’thalas in ruins!

And I might pop up on my Watcher trainee aswell! :smirk:

These screenshots though, ohmyitlookssogood. Thank you for sharing them! Nice initiative, definitely curious for this and all the night elf roleplay that will sprout with the new world tree. :herb:
