Joust Rules

The Joust

A contest between knights and nobles on horseback, where each rides past one another with lances and tries to unseat one another. The winner receives A horse from the Redwood Livery and the winner’s coinpurse. The runner up receives commiserations and the runner-up coinpurse. Points are tallied for each combatant over three tilts, the combatant with the most points at the end wins the round. If a combatant is unhorsed they lose the round regardless of their number of points. Combatants will be called up to face one another two at a time, until final two remain for a final joust.

Each combatant rolls D7.

1 - Miss.

2 - A strike to the left arm. 1 Point.

3 - A strike to the upper body. 2 Point.

4 - A strike to the shield. 3 Point.

5 - A strike to the helmet. 4 Point.

6 - A strike to the lance. 5 Points.

7 - A strike strong enough to dismount. Automatically win the round.

Helmets - naturally depending on class there will be some discrepancies with transmog options. DO BARE THIS IN MIND. For jousters especially you will be required to have a full protective helmet to protect the head from blows from lances. We will adhere to being watchful and understanding that not everyone and every class will be able to achieve this luck.

Roll considerations: If both participants roll a 7, they will be asked to reroll rather than dismount each other (funny as it would be) The same scores at the end of the 3rd round will result in a 1 off round of sudden death with the highest roller winning

Duel Rules

The Meele

Mock duels between knights and men-at-arms. The winner receives a bespoke sword and shield commissioned from Grethlem Meltherne. Combatants will take turns in attack and defence, both sides resolve an attack by rolling D20. If the attacker scores higher than the defender, the defender takes one point of damage. Inversely, if the defender scores higher than the attacker, then damage is avoided.

  • Each combatant starts with three points, they must yield when they lose all their points. A combatant yields by kneeling.
  • Each combatant must wear heavy armour of either mail or plate, or light armour of cured leather.
  • Absolutely no use of magic. If magic is used defensively or offensively, the round is halted and the offending party is disqualified.

All combatants of the melee must use one-handed or two-handed training swords, the points and edges must be blunted. These will be provided on the day, or you may bring your own. They will be checked. No weighted blunt weapons, i.e clubs/maces/flails. No axes. Shields are allowed. You are allowed to enter with no weapon, if you wish.

Please try to keep your emotes short, concise, and no greater than one paragraph. Not everyone is a fast typer and long emotes slow down the pace of the game for everyone.

Archery Rules

The Archery

Archery Contest Score Table
1-5: Miss
6-10: White outer ring = 2 points
11-15: Black middle ring = 5 points
16-18: Red inner ring = 8 points
19-20: Yellow Bullseye = 10 points

How the Archery Contest system works
Each archer has 3 shots to make on the target. Each roleplayer begins by getting their character into position at the shooting line when it’s their turn. Roll first shot, then emote action and score result. Perform this 3 times for total character score.

Important Note
Not every archer is on par with the other, some excel beyond others through extended lifespans, greater gear and equipment, possess natural talent or both. Each roleplayer can determine whether or not their character possesses an edge in archery within the contest. Alternatively, perhaps their character is inexperienced or shot with nerves, possessing a flaw in archery within the contest.

Edge: At the roleplayer’s choice, gain +1 or +2 modifier for each individual shot.
Flaw: Alternatively, gain -1 or -2 modifier for each individual shot. Before rolling or emoting, whisper the contest DM of your character’s personal modifier. You may only choose one, if any, throughout the entire contest. You cannot change between rolls.

Knight's Feast

The Knight’s feast, to be held on the second day of the tournament (26th) and will be strictly invitation only and rules state that all weaponry must be left at the door during. The feast will be fully serviced with several courses, unlimited beverages and includes entertainment throughout.
