[A-RP] Hounds of Wrynn - Stormwind Military / Infantry / Adventure RP

Three figures sat around a table in the keep, clad in the typical uniforms of the Stormwind Army. It had been a long day of paperwork and discussion and the uniform had grown heavy and cumbersome, even more so than usual.

Despite all of this the morale around the table was high as the three officers continued their work, working through the doctrines and documents of the company they had just recently been given command of. Wives, husbands, lovers and friends had all been left to wonder where the three had been for the day and if they would even make it home.

Late into the small hours of the night, the Captain stood up from his chair and gave his Lieutenants a brief nod as he folded up the documents before him.

“It would appear that we have our work cut out for us, the ground work is done - all that is left is to execute.”

Greetings, Argent Dawn!

The reason for my post today is for the introduction of a new guild to Argent Dawn, in hopes that some of you fine people might like to join us in our new adventure. Another military guild, you say? Yes, indeed. Another military guild. But for those with an interest (hopefully even those without) in aspects of military RP, we hope to offer angles and opportunities within our envisioned setting that we have yearned for in times bygone. Most of all, we hope to create an enjoyable and refreshing atmosphere whilst traveling lands far and wide!

The “Hounds of Wrynn” - or “D-Company” - which is its official designation, is a newly created guild hoping to focus on adventure and storytelling within a military setting.

Revived out of the ashes of hundreds upon hundreds of units previously shut down, the decision to revitalize and bring this old unit back from the dead has been made as part of an effort to keep the Alliance military strong and active following a long period of relative peace.

The men and women of D-Company often referred to as “Dog Company” were quickly branded as the “Hounds of Wrynn” for their unwavering loyalty, dedication and prowess in the field - a moniker which they hope shall be one of glory once more.

“A story for one is a story for all.”

Our core concept revolves around the stories that evolve through its members and the creativity of those involved through an adventuring, military setting.
*Irrespective of rank - whether you play a Captain, a Lieutenant, or a ‘lowly’ Footman; we want our ideas to flourish around the idea that everyone who plays a part will be a key and crucial player in what we hope will be a very intricate game of military chess. *
Whether your aim is to play a slow burning game of a disgruntled Private or an ambitious veteran with logistic experience, both are key elements of RP that we want to foster and nourish.

The road back to glory is not a quick or easy one and as such we will progress our way from rags to revered in chapters; from the most basic of training to the company’s first daunting deployment, making sure that everyone who drags their boots through the dirt on this adventure will feel fully immersed and included. Through hardship, determination and sheer grit, no man will be left behind.

Ranks will remain simple and easy to distinguish from Recruit all the way to Captain, with one or two added ranks for a Quartermaster, Physicians and Mages. This however will of course be subject to change.

  • Captain
  • Lieutenant
  • Sergeant
  • Corporal
  • Private
  • Recruit

LIMITED ROLES

Three of the pre-planned roles within the guild will be limited simply to give these roles a small but signifcant role to play within the narrative of the guild instead of bloating it.

Quartermaster - Limited to 1

The Quartermaster oversees the company’s logistics and equipment in coordination with the commissioned officers, making sure that the company is properly supplied and accommodated.

Physician - Limited to 2 (Depending on size.)

The Physician(s) oversee all things medical within the company in coordination with every member of the company, responsible for teaching first aid and field medicine and making sure that every officer and soldier is healthy.

Mage - Limited to 3 (Depending on size.)

The mages of the company are few and are placed there to offer magical consultation to the commissioned officers and magical support in the field.

RECRUITMENT

Our recruitment will first and foremost start with an OOC discussion between you and an officer, where we go over some small details of your character and what you might want out of your time in the guild and how you wish to be introduced into it - be it by enlisting voluntarily, conscription, penal service or transferring from another unit.

If your flavour is not long lasting characters, or if you feel uncertain in your current character but wish to stay, we will open the doors for many different ways of recruitment from being picked up in the street, enlisting, transferring, serving a penal sentence etc.

As the company is based in Stormwind, we will limit our membership races to humans with a few exceptions for Quel’dorei and half-elves.

We will not be stagnant in any one place for too long or become a stationary guard guild, our focus will always be on travel, adventure, progress for the guild, its storylines and its members. However, we believe that building relationships with other guilds and the wider community is important.

With this belief, we will make effort to facilitate such by location between deployment and heartily encouraging and inviting others outside the guild to roleplay with us.

I’d like to give a friendly nudge to the guild. I’ve RP’ed with Parker before (albeit on another character), and he’s always been very pleasant! Good luck with the guild!!

Leo is one of those few who always sought to have a proper, low-fantasy military RP vibe. Good luck!

Due to the sharding in Stormwind it’s proven rather difficult to get the presence necessary to carry out proper recruitment, we’ve however moved around various settlements and made quite a few friends around and about.

Our main objective from the start will of course focus on recruitment and training, initating the story of the guild through that, with our restrictions on races allowed recruiting we know it might not always be easy but that doesn’t deter us in the slightest.

Other than racial restrictions, we’ve none other:

Is your character a peasant who suddenly decided they wanted to make something of themselves? Welcome!

Is your character a criminal, reformed or not, perhaps looking for a way to not spend years and years in the Stockades? We’ll sort you out, don’t worry.

Returning veteran, unable to get reacquainted with the dull civilian life you’re now forced to live? Welcome home, soldier.

Any stage, any kind, we’ll make it work and it is just more to add to the character of the guild.

We are of course also looking for TWO mages (possibly a warlock) to fill our ranks of magical consultants, aiding with and working with the officers of the guild to support and tackle any obstacle that is magical in nature.

Is your niche of RP more aimed towards the monotonous flipping of pages and the sound of ink upon paper? The administrative, social and admittedly at times, very hermit like life of someone that works to make everything work behind the scenes?

Then our vacant Quartermaster’s spot is just right for you, being a logistical officer in the army sure isn’t easy but it is a necessary position and one that comes with a lot of power. Who other than the commissioned officers can threaten the soldiers with nothing but beans and stale bread for a week?

We are around, active and recruiting.

Should you be interested, just fling me a message and we’ll talk about it, be it an old or new character, a fresh start or a revamp.

Our positions for Physicians and the position for a Quartermaster has been filled.

We are however still looking for two mages.

Mages, like the Quartermaster and the Physician fill a special role within the company and will be limited in number depending on guild size. Preferably no less than 2, but never more than 3.

Mages will act as the limited yet possibly very effective magical branch of the company and as the magical advisors to the officers, helping with and dealing with tasks of a magical nature.

They’re not part of the usual chain of command unless specifically noted by an officer in charge, meaning they’re about the same rank as a Private.

Our idea for the mages, like it is with the Quartermaster and the Physicians, is to offer a role that while minor will play a larger part and since there’s a small number of them the ones who play this role have a chance to make themselves rather important.

We’re currently doing rather well and recruitment has picked up, but of course the army needs more soldiers!

As of this moment most of the Hounds are up in Gilneas to partake with their allies in the celebratory games hosted in honour of the reclamation.

In the coming weeks we will start the process of the storyline for the guild while we continue our recruitment efforts as we begin to whip the soldiers back in to shape and put our processes in place.

We are still looking for more soldiers to join our ranks.

Want to try out something new, a new character, a change in the life for yours?
ENLIST TODAY.

We are doing good and the guild is moving forward. In a week or two we will set off on our first guild campaign in the form of a training exercise that will see us try some of our rolling systems and other bits of flavour that we plan on bringing to the table.

This will in-character act as a way for the recruits to get their knowledge and training in to progress while warming up the transfers and re-enlisters. We’re very excited!

The exercise campaign will see us spend a lot of time in the Kingdom of Stormwind, where the soldiers and officers will be acquainted or re-acquainted with the terrain from a new perspective.

We are still recruiting, while all of our auxiliary slots are filled up for now, we’re always looking for more soldiers to join. If you have a concept you want to try out, want a chance to change your character IC or just feel like you want to do something else, contact us with any questions you might have!

  1. Today is the day

After a few weeks or training and organising, preparing for what’s to come, 82nd Infantry Battalion’s D-Company has finally reached the day at which they shall deploy for a whole month, touring the Kingdom of Stormwind to conduct training exercises and bring their recruits and returning soldiers back up to speed, preparing for the future.

We are still recruiting The last few weeks have gone well for us as we have bolstered our ranks and found specialists to fill our auxiliary roles. Two magical advisors serve to help the company tackle and face most threats and obstacles of a magical nature. Our Quartermaster is hard at work organising our equipment and inventory. The Physician is keeping a close eye on the soldiers, ensuring that their health is in tip top shape at all times. More soldiers are needed. Are you downtrodden and down on your luck? Too many mouths to feed in your house hold? ENLIST with the Stormwind Army TODAY. ------- We’ll be away on a training exercise for a month now where we will try out our new systems and ideas for how we want to bring the guild forward while our main focus always will be to not draw too much attention to the hack and slashy nature of most guilds and events and instead also draw a lot of focus to how our characters live and breathe and change in this life for them.

There is nothing like fellowship of soldiers facing threats together, side by side! Hounds of Wrynn is already doing a fanstastic job keeping the well-known old school military theme alive and well, and holds great potential in creating amazing experiences!

I’m doing my part for the Alliance! Will you? Become a hound in D-Company!

82nd Infantry Battalion’s D-Company has returned home!

A month in the field touring their home Kingdom of Stormwind has seen a few souls come and go. Not everyone is made for military service, not everyone has the mental fortitude or the willpower to make it through the rigorous training and intense focus on discipline.

To the surprise of many of the soldiers and recruits in the company, this too applied to some of the officers in the company’s ranks, everyone was assessed and everyone was under scrutiny. Leading to some more than surprising dismissals.

Incompetence will not be allowed to flourish.

Hello, gang! We are back home in Stormwind for a week or two to focus on some restructuring and revamping some systems we want to be using, during this time we will also see to recruitment and get involved in some of the social events that happen around town and the world.

It’s been a good month and we’ve learned a lot, solidified what I would say is a decent core of people that will help us carry this guild forward with a focus not just on the hack-slash-and-kill type of event RP but also on the social aspects and how the life our characters live affect them, both physically and mentally.

As mentioned, we’ll be home in Stormwind for at least 2 weeks before we head on out on our next missions. Interested in tagging along? ENLIST TODAY!

Dog Company is once more on its way.

Leaving the warm and relaxing comfort of their home, D-Company of the Eighty Second Infantry Battalion now put the great white walls of Stormwind City behind them as they sail northward.

A distant memory for some, something never forgotten by others, something only known through stories by most with its veterans barely ever wanting to return.

The cold frozen wastes of Northrend await the brave soldiers of Stormwind as they are sent on a tour to visit and help reinforce the Alliance military bases across the continent. Supplies in abundance, morale at an all time high and with conviction and seal keeping them warm no obstacle or frozen landscape will, or could, get in the way of them and their mission.

We are on our way again, some of us enjoyed the Gilnean Market last night as our last social event for what could be more than a month in the field IC. The Hounds of Wrynn are now steadily on their path bath to the glory that the moniker of their company holds.

Only time will tell, will they all crumble, or only some? Will the pressure of returning to Northrend for some of them be too much? And what of the new blood? Those that had never set foot outside of the Kingdom before.

Recruitment will primarily and only be done in an OOC manner for the duration of the campaign, contact Gnorfolus ingame if you are interested in joining or wanting to join us and our discord.

We’re also possibly looking to do cooperative campaigns in the future, as long as it makes sense for us narratively, so if you have an idea where a military company fits you are more than welcome to contact us.

Thanks for reading, have a good one!

82nd Battalion, Dog Company

D-Company - soldiers of many experienced or fresh made rookies - performing their duty at most professional level in Northend! At current, stationed in Westguard Keep, getting used to the colder climate; being in lands filled with beauty, though with roaming vrykuls about and undead savages! So far, not a single day has been without activity, but no one stand with regret of their choice of risk!

For many soldiers, this tour is a simple return to the front, with loads of memories and nightmares kicking - whilst for others - the constant fear of death and homesickness, slowly but eventually, turning into courage and strength full mindsets! Will they all return home in one piece?

Psst
rumors have it, Grizzly Hills await them soon. What will the hounds face in those lands?

Do you got what it takes to become a hound in D-Company? Then make contact and don’t miss out! The frontline always require more enlisters!

Dog Company on the move once again!

No rest for anyone, the hounds specially not, having just spent a week in the lands of Grizzly Hills. The beauty of the land was no joke; it’s marvelous colours and breathing of fresh air was a sight and experience never to be forgotten. But nonetheless, it was neither a peaceful experience.

Residing themselves in the Westfall Brigade Encampment, it was obvious this settlement had been the home for many soldiers - for decades - for a long period of time. The atmosphere being filled with tales of the past and of the current, words and yells only fitting the fellowship of soldiers under the same banner. If someone didn’t feel they were a soldier just yet - then being in the encampment, among veterans and experience of all - surely made you into one now.

As valliant troopers of the crown, D-Company had embarked themselves on many objectives in the land, ensuring the presence of the Alliance was known - even for the local opponents in the land, but also the standing allies - underlining the call, that the Alliance had never left the dominion of the land in the wrong hands!

Now, their tour went on. From beautiful tall trees and living wildlife, to cold snowy mountains, constant clouded by darkness and the presence of death around every corner. Dragonblight - even years after known campaigns - the land never failed in making a scare to anyone. Even for the hounds, this was no joke - they all knew what darkness had once cursed this land - yet, they embarked on. Because hounds never quit.

Establishing themselves inside the walls of Wintergarde Keep, who knew what was to come next?

The northend campaign moves on for - D-Company, 82nd Battalion - and it’s a joyful tour of eventful activities and stories for the hounds! Definitely an experience worth to be a part of, don’t miss out, if you feel you’ve got a proper bark within you!

Our AA roams with various stories of characters and excellent screenshots showing our tour. Don’t forget to check it out! - Argent Archives: Hounds of Wrynn -

They seemed endless, like no matter what were to be done none of it would be enough to make the undead come one by one, in groups and droves and hordes.

Two weeks had passed in Dragonblight, for two weeks D-Company had spent their time out in the cold fighting for their lives to maintain the fragile balance upon the northern continent. Two weeks spent not knowing if they had said their last goodbyes to the people they loved back home.

A month had gone by in the blink of an eye since the D-Company tour of Northrend had begun and soon, just soon it would be over. Just one more week at Valiance Keep.

Despite not being anything like it was back during the reign of the Lich King, Northrend had still proved to be a gruesome test of determination and stamina for all soldiers and officers both old and new. They had all learned and they had all lost and gained many things sometimes twice over. A terrible reminder of what it must have been like for those men and women who had gone in without any prior knowledge to what the lands held, not backed by decades of work and operations conducted in the Frozen Wastes. Nothing, no help, no aid.

More seasoned now than ever before, most had gained confidence more than anything else. Confidence that together, side by side, they could get through anything that was thrown at them.

One more week before they could go home

Our Tour in Northrend nears its end!

Thank you for tuning in and hopefully keeping track of us if you’ve read this far.

Hounds of Wrynn will be spending one more week in Northrend, in the Borean Tundra, where we will be conducting the last few events in our own guild campaign before eventually returning home to rest and recuperate.

The future looks very promising! We’re stronger now than ever and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves, we’ve managed to create a strong and very wholesome community OOC where people are more than welcome to come and try their concepts and express their ideas. We’re looking forward to seeing what capacity the military branches will play in the coming expansion, ready and eager to pounce on and capitalise on whatever’s flung our way.

Returning back to Stormwind and a few weeks in the Eastern Kingdoms, we will likely take it a little slow and focus on IC training and recruitment instead of locking ourselves in to any major guild campaigns for now.

If you’re interested in joining or cooperating, don’t hesitate to throw me a message!

King’s honour, friends!

!OUR HEROES RETURN HOME!

Well over a month spent in the frozen wastes of Northrend, from Valgarde and Westguard in the Howling Fjord, fighting former Forsaken loyalists and sick Vrykul upon which terrible experiments had been conducted on,

To the Grizzly Hills and the infamous Westfall Brigade Encampment, sending them further north in to the terrible swathes of Drakkari ruins to find lost Crusaders and reports of recent Nerubian disturbances,

To two weeks in Dragonblight, starting out in Wintergarde to find a lost patrol and stop an undead horde dead in its tracks through a narrow ravine to a week spent at the old, terrifying remains of Fordragon Hold. A week spent staring up at the renowned Wrathgate, fumbling in the cold blizzards and terrible dark to fight more undead than most would want to see in a lifetime,

To the Borean Tundra, helping two friends who had specifically asked that D-Company be assigned to them in their task, aiding a Shaman of the Earthen Ring and a Mage of the Kirin Tor to finally put an end to an old, already fallen Lich, finding its Phylactery and seeing to it that it could never terrorise the living ever again.

It had been a rough month for everyone in Dog Company, now rest finally awaited them at home. Warm beds, familiar beds, home and warmth, the sun shone on Stormwind as it almost always did, inviting them back home

but time would tell how many of them could really rest after the month they had.

82nd Infantry Battalion is back in Stormwind!

We are finally back after an extensive and very intense tour through the Alliance military establishments in Northrend, we’ve ticked off all the boxes and made sure that we’ve made the most of every zone we have been in and we are far from done!

With some time now spent back home to rest and recuperate we are also plotting our next steps forward! We are likely doing something small before TWW hits but we are waiting to see what it looks like when it does as well, but hopefully we’ll be able to incorporate the guild in to some of the new content that is going to be pushed out.

Recruitment is open again and we’re hoping to hear from anyone interested in joining!

We are currently looking for One Mage to help bolster the ranks of the magical advisory, raising the number from 2 to 3.

And of course we are also looking for more soldiers, we always are.

So are you interested in joining a military guild of adventure and storytelling, we are here to take you in!

King’s honour!

FORMAL INVITATION TO BORALUS

82nd Infantry Battalion’s Dog Company has been formally invited by the Proudmoore Admiralty for a week to test their mettle against the fearsome and infamous Marines of the Kul Tiran Navy and make use of their training facilities, hoping to catch the pesky mainlanders with their trousers by their ankles towards the end of it and crying in shame.

Naturally, the men and women of D-Company are determined not to let this happen and are eager to show the Marines and the Admiralty just how fearsome and determined the landlubbing footmen can be on foreign soil, taking on tasks that they have never encountered before.

  • The Triathlon.
  • The Anchors A-Weighlifting Event.
  • The Arbalest’s Challenge Event.
  • Climbing/Mountaineering Event.
  • Admiralty Assault Course.

Captain Bryn Whiteford is overseeing the training exercises from the Admiralty’s side in liasion with D-Company’s very own Captain Parker. There’s even been a challenge thrown in from Captain Whiteford’s side, offering Captain Parker a chance to beat her current record at the infamous Admiralty Assault Course.

Hello again, Argent Dawn!

With just little over a week left until the expansion release, we’ve not really thought much about any echoes or anything related to old memories tied to Azeroth’s hopefully preventable demise!

No, no, we’re all still stuck in the Olympics, wishing it was much longer than two weeks. So, to help us with our withdrawal post-Olympics, we’ve decided to put aside any rumours and faint whispers from the very planet our characters live on and orchestrated an Olympic inspired event campaign of our own where the soldiers of D-Company will have to compete against eachother to see who is the very best that they have to offer.

We’ll be spending a week or so in Boralus, hoping to find others to socialise and engage with in the meantime when we’re not busy with our events and anyone that’s interested to come and talk with us are of course welcome to do so.

Hope to be seeing you around!

ALLIANCE MOBILISATION

As the call to arms and the call for mobilisation goes out through the Alliance, so does it for the men and women of the 82nd Infantry Battalion in the Stormwind Army.
D-Company are no different, having been briefed on the news of what happened to Dalaran over the shores of Khaz Algar, the entire unit now on standby and awaiting deployment.

As to where they will go and what they might be told to do, no one knows just yet. The wait is long and while the anxiousness sets in as the hours drag on, no one gets any wiser.

Hello everyone, Hounds of Wrynn are still alive and kicking! We’ve taken a bit of a break to let everyone enjoy the new content at their own pace and we will likely do so properly for another week or two, depending on how it looks at the start of season 1 start.

We are still actively recruiting, looking for one or two more mages to act as magical advisors and at least one more doctor and healer, to help our soldiers in the field when injured. Doctor Daisha Lue is a strong character, but the burden of working as the sole doctor is not an easy one!

As for what we will do IC once we get back properly, it is hard to say as of now.

MINOR SPOILER

Since none of the NPCs present once the Alliance and the Horde make landfall are actual Stormwind Army NPCs, barely even any 7th Legion NPCs other than the two standing above the shorline, it’s hard to tell if this is a narrative decision or if it’s a miss entirely. Therefore we might be holding off a little longer, to actually see if the Stormwind Army shows up later since Turalyon said it was hard to mobilise on such short notice.
This as well as his comments on the armistice being much more fragile than many would believe leads me to think the latter or that the main armies just wont be included at all.

Nevertheless, we are looking forward to an autumn packed with intensive and immersive campaigns, tours and events. We’ve got a lot in the works and not all of it is TWW focused.

If you are interested in joining, you may reach out to me ingame or on discord, tags are in the main post.

Ingame you can also reach out to Daisha, Derrick or Evalynda.

King’s honour, friends!
