[A-RP] Lunar Festival (21th to 28th January)

Introduction

The year turns and the Lunar Festival is upon us once again!

It is a time of remembrance and celebration. A moment to reminisce on the valor and the wisdom of an ancient age, of the valiant warriors from different races who fell during the war and the unity that brought us together to fight and vanquish the Legion.

But it is also a time of merriment, of community and reunion, to share and celebrate with family, friends, kin and allies. A time of happiness and good fortune, the nights where our Goddess’s light brightens up our ways even during the darkest events.

The Moonrise Hermitage and Isil’theran are pleased to host this year’s events!

Detailed Program

Updates will happen as the organization progresses. Stay tuned. Take a look at the final map of Nighthaven to find the precise meeting points for each event !

• 21th of January - Lunar Pilgrimage

Organisers: Moonrise Hermitage & Isil’Theran
Location: Astranaar Gazebo, Ashenvale.
Starting Hour: 20.00
The Lunar Festival is a time of joy but also of remembrance. Join us for a pilgrimage through Ashenvale and the Darkshore. The druids of the Moonrise Hermitage will summon a follower of Malorne to guide us through our journey, where kin and friends will share stories of the past while we remember about those who left our world and the past events that shaped it. Come share a quiet and peaceful walk, participate in the offering for Malorne and travel to Moonglade for the festivities.
Feel free to bring a small offering for the ritual. Suitable options are seeds, herbs, fruits and nuts.

Provided by the wonderful Madame Nishillion, the evening will end with the performance of a brand new play : The First Festivale.

[OC] This time around, we are taking a different route for a change of pace. For conveniency reasons, we consider the existence of a small path across the mountains between the Darkshore and Moonglade to travel easily. This part of the pilgrimage will be done OC.
We also plan to use the modern version of the Darkshore(if it flipped back to Alliance side). Be sure to be in the right phase before the event. Because of this, you also need to be at least level 50!

• 22th of January - Ceremony of the First Serving

Organisers: Arlièn (Arlièn)
Location: Northern Moonwell, Nighthaven.
Starting Hour: 20.00
One of the hallmarks of the Lunar Festival is its iconic drink, the moonglow. During this night, we will gather the first batch of this season from the dens where the drink has been aging in its oaken barrels. We will take two barrels up to the lake where we will make an offering to Mother Moon and the Wild Gods, and receive their blessing in turn.

• 23th of January - Hunt for Omen

Organisers: Tessaemay (Irrissia)
Location: Northern Moonwell, Nighthaven.
Starting Hour: 20.00
After his fall during the War of the Ancients, Omen restlessly returns to the shore of the lake of Elune’ara every year. His rampant madness did not suppress Elune’s blessing, her mighty beast conversing his great strength and his immortality while unable to reclaim his sanity. Hopefully, one day, Omen might awake with a clear mind again but until that time, he must be put to rest. As the tradition commands, a group of volunteer hunters will courageously brave the corrupted wild god, to offer him another year of peaceful sleep under the waters of the lake.

[OC] This is a DM’ed event.

• 24th of January - Moonball Games

Organisers: Elrinde
Location: Nighthaven, Moonglade.
Starting Hour: 20.00
As a staple of the kaldorei games, the Moonball makes its return during the Lunar Festival this year again ! During this night, you will have the opportunity to practice in a new arena in Moonglade, play against multiple opponents or discover the mooball for the first time. You may sign up now, contacting Elrinde in-game or posting on the thread.

Location: Southern halls, Nighthaven.

In Tessaemay Lunarowl-Manapearl and Arlièn Snowshade’s company, you can write a little poem, a word of wisdom or even a tasteful joke that can be placed either in a red envelope or a fortune cookie. Learn to fold the envelope with them step by step, to offer a small gift to your dear friends and family. Sal’hilan Shadeclaw will help you at the oven to bake the famous kaldorei fortune cookies.

Rules for Lore Tournament

A lore quiz for up to eight contenders. Each contender has three lives. Upon losing them all, the contender is eliminated from the game. Lives are lost by either providing the wrong answer to the question or by failing to give the answer within the time frame. Contenders have 45 seconds to reply to the question, counted from the moment the question is asked. The contender who successfully answers a question picks who has to answer the next question. If they fail, you can pick again until someone manages to answer a question. You cannot pick the same enemy twice. The first contender will be selected randomly. Should they fail, the random selection will continue though without those who failed being in the selection pool. The last person standing will become the winner of the Tournament.
Signups for the tournament will start at 20:30.
Locations will be added at a later date.

Rules for the Costume Contest

A competition for all the fashionistas willing to dress up. This year’s theme is “Heroes of Azeroth” ! Dress up as your favorite historical figure or as the embodiment of the concept. Be creative and stylish in your costume, the only limit is your imagination. Each participant will have a slot of 5 minutes to incarnate their hero for the public. The judges will decide on the three best costumes, which will be ranked and receive prizes for their talent.

[OC] Only transmogrification and equipped items are allowed. Your character must appear as they usually are, with the clothes you decided. You can however wear whatever you can equip in game. You are not restricted by the in-game transmogrification system. We won’t accept toy transformation, food buffs and other items that alter your in-game appearance. Even if justificated in-character.
Sign up for the contest will start at 21.00.
Locations will be added at a later date.

For the market on Thursday 26 we are also looking for stalls and vendors, to come do trade in the Moonglade!

Further more we are also looking for people who would like to run a bar in Nighthaven to trade food and drinks throughout the week, as to provide a festive atmosphere outside the smaller events. Hunting Omen is hard work and needs a drink afterwards.

There is also room for musicians throughout the week, to come and play in the tranquil boughs.

If you are interested in partaking in one, more or all such things, please reach out to us and we can discuss how to make it work.

See you in the Moonglade!

A little reminder to get your toys from the Winter Veil, for those interested. Our Moonball organiser has been considering it as an option for this year event !

This has to be the most inaccurate, lore breaking and hard take to do. Let me explain.

The Lunar festival’s description is as follow:

Today, the Lunar Festival is held by the druids of Nighthaven Both the Horde and Alliance are welcome to celebrate and shoot fireworks

Meaning everyone is welcomed in Moonglade, Alliance and Horde alike. The Cenarion Circle is a neutral organization with no direct allegiance to either faction and with Tauren, Trolls and more recently, Worgen as prime members. It has always been secluded from the Night Elf society despite its geographical proximity with the Night Elves and does its own things. Yes, the main members are night elves, and yes they help the night elves, but it’s only because it aligns with their main goal: protecting Azeroth. And not just because they are night elves.

What does it mean? It means if a night elf is from the Sisterhood, the Sentinels, the Watchers, a civilian or aligned with some other faction, they have no direct business in Moonglade. They also have zero authority to decide for the druids among the Cenarion Circle. On top of that, the night elves are Alliance members and that is true even if some of them disagree with it. And the Cenarion is not Alliance. What I mean is night elves are invited to Moonglade in the exact same way than a Horde-aligned race would be and have no particular priority over them.

Third point. The War of Thorns and the Fourth War are over. The High Priestess Tyrande has declared renewal and ceased any form of vengeance toward the Horde by personally refusing to deliver death upon Sylvanas. The current canon is rebuilding and focusing on the Dragon Isles, no more wrath, no more Night Warrior and no more war. Trying to exclude the Horde or to pretend the Lunar Festival is Alliance/Night Elf centric is pushing the idea we’re still in BfA and the feeling of the few disgruntled night elves are taking over the decision of the Cenarion Circle to stay neutral and are going against the High Priestess wishes by going around her decision.

What does it mean? If your night elf character has ill-intent toward the Horde, are still at war and would still fight the Horde present in Moonglade. They are the one in the wrong AND they are the ones who shouldn’t be coming in the Lunar Festival. Because the Sisterhood/Sentinels are not Cenarion Circle. In other word, if they don’t like it, they shouldn’t come. And no personal headcanon about how right they are over Blizzard lore should be taken in account when opening an event called “The Lunar Festival”. It’s wrong and pushes abominable lore upon everyone concerning druidic RP.

I am playing druid main, everyone knows that. I am always looking forward to the Lunar Festivale both OOC and IC and seeing this makes me facepalm so hard I wonder how people declared Ashenvale Night Elf communities were top of the game and then pulling stunts like this.

So what do I mean?

You should be praised for organizing an event.

An event is hard work. An event brings the community together. You’re the best for creating an event.

But.

You shouldn’t call your event the Lunar Festival if you’re pushing your private lore on everyone.

If you wish not to include the Horde and prefer Night Elf company, then Moonglade isn’t the place for it. You should rename your event or host it somewhere else at another time because you’re doing a disservice to the entire community and while you will have high attendance, it keeps diluting druid RP which not many already understand.

I’ll sponsor all the [Elixir of Tongues] you need if it’s a concern but please, don’t butcher the Lunar Festival with BfA warmongering crap.

Thank you for reading.

Thanks for your long message. Maybe our intentions were not clear, but to clarify our thoughts :

We are kaldorei-players and kaldorei-focused RP guilds. We are organising our events for the community we are a part of. We do not “privatise” anything, neither the Lunar Festival, nor Moonglade. We only ask for those who are not our focus to respect our work by not grieffing our events.

If anyone from the Horde wish to be in Moonglade during those nights, they are welcome to do so, as the game is for everyone. But we did not plan our events for them. We planned them for the kaldorei community.

You seem very passionate by the topic and we did not mean to push any “private lore” on anyone if that is the feeling you have. Regardless, you cannot advocate that the Lunar Festival is not what we are doing and asking us to host it somewhere else, because it is, fundamentally the same thing than privatising a place to RP.

So we will maintain our events in Moonglade, and maintains the kaldorei-focus we worked on. Alliance players are free to attend as they do not require any accommodation for us, but our events remains focused on our community and we will ask them to respect that. Horde players are free to do whatever they wish in Moonglade during that time, but we did not plan our events to accommodate them.

Thank you for you answer. But this was my point, if you do an event during the Lunar Festival, in Moonglade, and you do not welcome the Horde… then you can’t call it the Lunar festival because it goes directly against the spirit of it.

You are of course free to keep hosting it and to decide who is allowed to come, but I totally disagree with the name and even more by pulling unaware people as the defacto Lunar event when… it’s not.

I think they can call it whatever they want, as it’s their event that they’re hosting for those interested.

I’ll see if I have the time to pop by and say hi to some familiar and unfamiliar faces!

As someone said, great power involves great responsibility. If you’re part of the main (and surely sole in Kalimdor) Kaldorei hub and you openly break the lore during an event concerning everyone, I’d say it’s fair to be pointed out.

Don’t go, then.

If someone decided to go to said event, that’s their choice. Don’t police them.

It’s nice of you to give me such power, but I’ve been clear in what I pointed out.
You are right, they are 100% free to host this event, they can call it Sylvanas’ Celebration if they want to also! And they own all the right to include and exclude everyone.

I am very happy they do.

But I believe the lore should be the same for everyone. And publishing an open invitation to the “Lunar Festival” while ignoring the fundamentals of the event is misleading. It has nothing private anymore once posted in the forum and for everyone to join. It’s totally fair game to point out the “Kaldorei-focused” community is not following the lore of the game and everyone should be aware of this, because not everyone know everything about Kaldorei IC.

It sounds to me like your issue is primarily with another group and that you’re using this event to go off about them; it’s rather impolite. I don’t think there’s much to respond to, consequently.

What I pointed out stems from the lore of the game. You can make it personal because you believe it’s a forum war, but this doesn’t remove the fact this event breaks the lore actively.

You can learn from the criticism or play “I don’t hear you nanana, you’re bad”. This is childish and will not go anywhere.

What’s childish is hopping onto a thread about a long-running community event to “erm akchually” them with an essay about how they’re lore-breakers when from what I can tell, they’re not.

Then perhaps you could explain me how my reasoning is wrong? Saying “they are not” after a proper explanation in how they are leads nowhere either. It’s just a way to dismiss the problem without addressing it.

Yeah cause I’m not about to start a lore discussion in this thread when it’s not warranted or necessary. I’m just calling you out for being weird in the hopes that you shut up and go away.

Your toxicity has been duly noted.

You keep on saying “it breaks lore” when it doesn’t - the event specifically is being hosted by some people for a wide group (but not all) people, that does not mean that ‘at large’ it is exclusively for them, which I’m quite confident you understand but just don’t want to accept as a point. If I run a Reliquary group that goes to the Dragon Isles and I keep that Horde-only, despite the reliquary at large being a part of a cross-faction expedition there, that doesn’t mean I’m breaking the lore by doing so

I am entirely uninvolved with anything related to this - I’ve just come back to the game and am (was) looking to get back into the RP side of things, but you keep on bringing up some sort of slight you have with a specific community (I’m unsure which?) - if anyone’s being childish, it’s you, frankly, trying to derail a thread to talk about how the event is bad and how the hosts and whatever groups they’re involved with are bad, you’re not really being as subtle with that as you might think you are being.

Don’t bother responding, I don’t care + won’t help you try and derail further

Please, guys, may we keep our topic focused on our events ? If you wish to debate of who is right or wrong, we would really appreciate if you were not doing it here.

Thanks !

But you thinking I’ve a feud is a you problem. Not mine. I’ve carefully explained the problem with the lore and the name of the event, and the implications it has for druidic RP as people often copy this without thinking twice and then it becomes ‘server lore’ where it is completely wrong.

The impact of the Lunar Festival events is bigger than smaller events, for example, the Nightblade Sentinels events are purely headcanon and are not meant to replace lore events, thus they do not mislead people (by mistake, I said it wasn’t on purpose, else I’d not take my time to explain it.)

That’s it. But you’re freshly returned, it’s fine if you don’t get all of it immediately.

Just a small question regarding your events and being Kaldorei-focused. Can Hordies still attend those events if they wanted to? Are all of the events hosted in Moonglade (except for the pilgrimage ofc)?

I’m asking because I’d love to attend on my neutral-aligned Druid and wouldn’t want to run into any OOC / gameplay problematics if we travel into Alliance hubs, etc.
