Welcome to the recruitment and information thread for <M.I.C>. Our founders are members of Hangar9, the Official London Spitfire (The Overwatch League Team!) Fan Association here in the UK. Given how many of our members play World of Warcraft we thought it would be fun to have a guild in WoW for our fan association. We’ll be a RP/ RP-PVP guild first and foremost, with an OOC rank for social and casual members. We might do some dungeons, raids and PVP together too! So, lets get down to talking about the M.I.C!
General
The Mechanised Infantry Corps <M.I.C> is a military-rp guild taking on the role of one of the Alliances newest units. As a mechanised unit our various divisions are all armoured in their own way, ranging from single and agile personnel carrying machines for the Recon Division through to striders, walkers and tanks of the Mechanised Infantry and Armoured Division. We’ll serve both in front-line and logistical capacities in combining not only military engineering but civil engineering also. Every member of the Mechanised Infantry Corps will have their own ‘Mech’!
Roleplay Themes
In joining <M.I.C> you can expect our RP to follow the following themes:
Brain AND Brawns: As part of the <M.I.C> you can join purely as a footsoldier or an engineer, but neither are the two mutually exclusive! As a soldier you’ll get IC training on doing basic maintenance on your mech, as an Engineer you’ll be able to get basic training if you’ve never served in a military capacity before.
R&D: Engineering, Research & Development and construction are important elements of our RP. Characters will all be greecemonkeys to varying degrees, though some will be specialists. Creativity and ingenuity are important guiding stars of the Corps, bur don’t forget: ‘Necessity is only the first cousin of invention’.
In War and Peace: Although geared towards combat, and always being combat ready, the Mechanised Infantry Corps also undertakes important civilian and peace-time work. Responding to natural disasters, assisting with civil engineering along with functioning as a Pioneer and Expeditionary force for the Alliance.
In the field: Between our time in great cities of the Alliance and across her lands and frontiers we’ll endeavour to make the most of our time wherever we are. Weather it be seeing the sights, trying the local food, making camp and getting firewood, doing repairs on the go or hunting & fishing for food we’ll always look to be “present” and authentic in our interactions with the world and our fellow rpers!

Origin Story
“Does it really need the additional cannon?”
Tinken was confused.
“How do you mean, sorry?” he enquired, his large sapphire coloured eyes glimmering up at the Alliance general.
“Don’t you think it’s a little… ‘much’…” the General pondered, adding “… Overkill, you know?”.
Tinken blinked slowly, the cogs and gears of his mind whirring away over this particular problem.
“Well… you don’t want them underkilled, you see?”
The General too blinked. The Gnome was not wrong.
“You’re sure it will work?”
“Unquestionably! The team from Mechagon were most helpful, we’ve begun getting casts made for all the parts, fresh orders for iron and steel have been requisitioned to meet production needs and we’ve begun devising a training programme for new drivers. We’ll be ship-shape and ready for the next conflict, you bet!”
Tinken clapped excitedly, bobbing up and down on the spot. Gnomes were, often, eccentric, but Tinken was that irresistible balance of 25% ingenious, 15% eccentric, 30% charismatic and 50% adorable. He was 100% made at maths. What did he need maths for, any way? He did everything by eye and estimation and it’d never steered him wrong. Planning was for his team, as was the challenge of deciphering his inventions drawn on the back of napkins, often in crayon or the sauce of whatever meal he’d been having.
“What are you calling all this?” the General enquired, looking over the proposal.
“MIC”
General Mike Anvildawn looked touched, flattered even. “You’re naming it after me?”.
Tinken was more confused.
“What… why would I…?” he started, his large eyes narrowed as they beheld General. “M.I.C - Mechanised Infantry Corps.”.
“Oh, I see.” He began to turn a violent shade of crimson. “How much did you say you wanted your budget to be?”
Tinken reached up, turning over several pages of the proposal, pointing at the bottom of the page.
“That’s a lot of zeros, Tinken.” he continued to turn over several pages worth of zeros attached, originally to a now distant 1.
“I kept going till my hand got cramp.”
“I’m just going to go ahead and remove a few of these….” he tore out several pages worth of zeros, then used a rubber to chisel away at the rest until a more reasonable figure remained.
Tinken wasn’t especially good with money either. Budgets were, as far as he was concerned, really only an indication of the minimum you could spend before people started chasing you up and raising their concerns. As he liked talking to people he was happy to overspend.
“Alright, lastly the Rank you’d be assigned…” The General was relieved, not only was this the most reasonable aspect of the proposal, but he was pleased not to have to talk the young Gnome down from the myriad of other ranks he’d written and crossed out across the rest of the page; though he was impressed with ‘Mechacog-Lord-Elite-Commander’.
“Commander-in-chief(Engineer)” seems reasonable.”
Tinken again clapped excitedly. The General of course was never going to appoint him as a Commander-in-chief of the Alliance’s forces. ‘Commander’ was appropriate, but he knew better than to tell Tinken that. It would state in some dusty records within Stormwind and Ironforge that Tinken was the ‘Commander-in-Chief(Engineer) of the Mechanised Infantry Corps <M.I.C>*’ and that that astrix would, at the bottom of the page, say in the smallest print possible ‘Commander’.
The Mechanised Infantry Corps was born!
