So I figured I could ask the question in here rather than make a thread about it:
Is there any interest amongst the guilds on the night elf scene to start up Thornroot's initiative again?
I'm talking about The Starhost:

Reason for me asking is, well, I simply like the idea. There's also been a lot of new Night Elf guilds forming lately and reckon it could be a way to have interaction between them.
Figured that we could do something with it for, say, 7.2 when the Broken Isles are going to have Legion invasions. Something similar to the campaign during the pre patch, perhaps?
I'd definitely be interested in seeing something like that happen Saleysea. I think it'd be nice to have a moment of major cross-guild interaction now and then. Even if I'm not in any of the major guilds myself (and wouldn't have a Council to send to attend it).
I love this part in it especially. If the idea proceeds, I think this should definitely be in the focus of the gatherings, rather than having guilds compete for authority with one another. It could be as simple as guilds coming together to each make a statement of what their plans are for fighting X, instead of trying to come to a forced agreement on what everyone should be doing.
Aims
The ultimate aim of the Starhost is to create and encourage roleplay and co-operation between guilds. We hope that by providing a framework like this to bind together guilds we can approach events of a greater scale than we would be able to do alone (with Legion approaching this is a big plus), maximise participating in world RP campaigns where appropriate, and foster a sense of community integration between Night Elf guilds and roleplayers.
I aim to make this project as open and inclusive and drama-free as possible, and keep the focus on creating roleplay and benefitting the community, and hope the relatively informal structure of the Starhost will aid this; by keeping membership fluid and leadership even more so - and disallowing any notion of lasting influence beyond times of need - we should be left with a tool to benefit all the Night Elf community without being exclusive, domineering or downright weird.

Alright, good to know.
I'd be interested to hear if Thornroot have something to say on it considering the project was his idea to begin with, as well as people from other Night Elf guilds.
Stay frosty!

As said on the forum for it, gonna push with the idea! Just need to get four folk to sign the charter.

Well up for this - I'd be super excited to see a Starhost forming properly, and I'm still interested in making the project work. My schedule is a lot more stretched now than when I first pitched the idea but I and the Guardians are more than happy to put in whatever work is required to get something off the ground.
Rekindle the old thread if you fancy, or make a new one, I don't hugely mind. My only stipulation is that the core of the concept - it's ad hoc "more of an event than an organisation" structure - stays put. A Starhost should be a gathering for a particular purpose that then dissolves once the purpose is served, not an in-group of "good night elf guilds" that stifle creative freedom and get weird and cliquey.
I like the idea of working with the 7.2 content, but on a shorter term, something in Suramar would be cool. There's a sparse-looking Night Elf camp on the outskirts of the city that might be fun to play with...

I'll be honest with you - I'm not sitting on any concrete idea to present but as you said, I'm willing to get behind the idea and help in making it work.
That being said, I don't mind pitching some plans around with a few others who have a desire to see The Starhost get off the ground again.
I'll probably check out Suramar and see if any inspiration hits me.

If my guild was up and running now, would totally do something with Suramar. Would be a perfect place for The Star Guard to visit.

Well the Blood will be heading to the Broken Shore when the opportunity arises... that may well be a good time to sound the clarion call.
The problem my guild faced when we were in Suramar is that there was very little interaction from other people on the isles save for the questers we bumped into, which was a bit detrimental. If there are a bunch of guilds going I wouldn't mind hopping back again!

My guild would probably be up for something like that as well. :) We're going on campaign now, but we're thinking of heading to the Broken Isles after that possibly... so yeah, if you do decide to rekindle Thornroot's idea, count us in. :)

.
The guild has been created.
I've added it to the guild list Sylfdir. Best of luck with getting it started! If you happen to need advice on recruitment at any point, I'm confident GMs and officers of the other guilds can give you helpful pointers (I don't know if you've been a guild master before, as I can't recall your name from anywhere). For one, I think making it visible what's going on with the roleplay of the guild can go a long way with attracting new people to join (pictures and stories posted either on the forums or Argent Archives for example). Well-written stories and cool pictures are a great way to get one immersed and inspired by the guild concept. Edit: Or just regular updates / notes on events organised within the guild.
Both The Cenarion Guardians and Bladecrest Sentinels do this for example!

Sounds good! Because many new guilds die within weeks due to lack of recruits - even if the idea was well-received on the forums - I'd just like to add that I hope you have patience! When it comes to guilds with a more specific concept & purpose it can take a while to establish a solid memberbase.
Just remember that quality is more important than quantity, and even if you had just 4-10 members you can still have awesome stories & scenarios in roleplay. So I recommend not to stress if you don't quickly get many recruits, some people pick up interest only after they've seen a bit of what's happening with the guild and what its reputation is shaping to be like. Good luck!

Would there be interest in a night elf themed Spring Festival this year, for some cross-guild interaction? I was thinking of potentially setting one up for Friday 7th or Saturday 8th April.

Personally I'd love it. These open events are a great opportunity to meet new people and make connections for future roleplay.
Does that mean I need to wear a dress?!
Jokes aside, if we're not somewhere else (7.2 is probably released super early april) I'm sure some of us could drop by, I haven't been to one of these yet

Yeah, the 7.2 patch is a concern if it suddenly happens in the next three weeks. If there's interest in the event, could have a Starhost gathering before/after the festival?
Yes that would be very cool, a nice introduction into it aswell
Sounds good! If the festival was on Friday in Darnassus, would you guys and Thornroot be interested in planning something regarding a Starhost gathering in the city on Saturday? Or if the event was on Saturday, Starhost on Sunday?
Edit: And forgot to say, cheers Koriandr!

Sounds like a plan! Still hunting for more details about 7.2 and what there'll be there for us to do, but some of the things coming out of Cathedral of Eternal Night are giving me Ideas™.
Attaching a Starhost mustering to the Spring Festival could be really cool - weaving in the Spring/rejuvenation/bonds of kinship/vitality themes into a renewed push against the Legion might be quite poignant. The Festival day itself can function as it usually would but I love the idea of having some kind of martial rally the day after before we embark on a trip to the Broken Isles.
Darnassus is probably too far away for us from where we are in Stonetalon at the moment, but I still support the idea! Damnit, Windshear Hold needs a teleporter.
