[A-RP]- Scarlet Renegades

"Have you never heard the tale of Joseph, old friend? ", the first Knight asked.
The other one frowned.
“Joseph the Insane?”
His friend smirked, shaking his head.
" No… Joseph the Awakened!"

Radnor took a deep breath, pushing his steed deeper into the cave, the dusty path below Fury’s hooves enlighted by a slight source of what the Paladin supposed to be arcane light.
“Wise trick.”, he thought.
Suddenly, the Knight noticed how the walls of hard rock at his sides were starting to disappear, making more space to a cave of modest size, followed by the constant, calm ‘splash’ of…waves.
Radnor inhaled, deeply.
“Well well.”, someone said, behind him.
"See who decided to visit some old friend, after all this time… ", the voice continued.
Radnor forced his steed to turn. There was enough space, now.
The other one nodded, briefly. He was still wearing the old crests.
" Leridan.", Radnor stated, for first, this time.
“Atreides.”
Both Paladins spent a long moment, studying each other’s moves. They used to be comrades, once. For a while, they even considered each other as enemies. But in that moment, the Holy Light made them walking the same path, again. A path without any possible turn back.
After a few seconds, the man named Leridan asked:
“In your letter, you wanted to meet me, in a safe place. This is the safest shelter you’ll find in the whole Arathi. And even if I still hate you for what you have done to us-… Let’s say that I may be eager to listen. What do You want from us, Atreides?”
Radnor took another deep breath, before answering.
“They are coming for them. It Is only a matter of time, before… everything, even the slightest cinder of good will, is going to be annihlated. I can’t tolerate such a thought. I-…”, he shook his head.
“There’s no turn back, from what you’re asking, old friend.”, Leridan said.
“Another one tried. Another one, failed. What if they won’t listen?”
“Then…”, Radnor answered.
“We Will spare them a life of fear and sufference.”
Leridan laughed, genuinly.
“You must be turned really insane, like the other one…”
Then, he stared at Radnor with a serious, gaze.
“Think to your children. To your wife… You are a war-hero. This is not your life, Duke Atreides.”
Radnor smirked, sadly. He had already thought about that.
And still, resolutely, he found out that there was no other choice, for him. Not anymore.
“War hero… And now, for many, a traitor.”,he said.
“For Lordaeron, my friend… it’s a small price to pay.”
Disbelieved, Leridan locked his gaze on the Knight of the Silver Hand in front of him. Then, he realized the inherit truth, and honesty, behind those words.
“Yes, old friend. For Lordaeron.”

Hi Argent Dawn,

I hope you all enjoyed the small prelude.

The Scarlet Renegades are a monastic-kind-of guild, with it’s core heavily tied to our favourite and chad Crusade roots.
Differently from the rest of our brothers, however, our schedule differences from Grand Crusader Dathrohan’s dictations and teachings.
A long time ago, a Crusader named Joseph was the first one to stand against such kind of mad teachings, and brought up a whole intestine rebellion with the Scarlet Crusade’s ranks. Unfortunately, due to the horrors he and his followers were forced to live, and the usual demonic influence typical of we Scarlets, he failed.
But, we won’t.
It is time to reunite the Scarlet Crusade under a single banner. It is the time to take our homeland back from the forces of darkness as a single, strong, and united beacon of hope. Why do we have to kill each other? Why do we have to isolate ourselves behind a wall of ignorance and fear? Why do we have to be considered mad criminals, murders?
It won’t be an easy task. Such kind of changes oftenly demand blood… Even those of the living. Even those of our friends. But we will prevail.

WHAT DO WE OFFER

We offer to your characters the chance to experience the life of a true Scarlet Crusader. Well-… A less psycho Crusader. Our first and main goal is to claim one of the many abandoned Scarlet (or human, in general) abandoned settlements in Lordaeron. From there, we will build up our rebellion and develop our personal net of ‘businesses’.
Our true enemies(and the enemies of every living-being) are the Undead. Even if rebellous, we’re still Scarlets: Our brotherhood makes no differences between the various kinds of walking corpses. Undead are Undead, see what they have done to our homeland… It doesn’t matter if they claim to ‘serve the Horde’. They always did, and look, where has it brought us?
The Undead are not, however, the single threat posed against the rebuilt of Lordaeron and the humankind itself. As warriors of the Holy Light, our duty is to deal with every possible danger which comes from the shadows, being it demonic, or even Void-related.
We’re talking about -threats-, here. We won’t pursue teavelers, adventures, or anyone else which doesn’t directly stand against us. But even if, with time, the Renegades will try to set up the terms for a diplomatic relationship with the Alliance and all the rest, we won’t kindly accept your chad Warlock summoning demons into our territory so easily. It Is a matter of zaelotry, yes, our Chapter is still a Scarlet one. But most of everything, it Is a matter of logic and good sense.
This said, our guild will offer to your character hours of good rp and well-structured, entertaining storylines.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR

Human Knights, Priests, Menders, Rangers, but even villagers and peasants. Our target is develop a safe and fun enviroment for everyone.

As mentioned before, to make such an hub and ‘safe heaven’ possible won’t be an easy task. In summary, we’re looking for serious players with the will to really become part of this concept, and take the chance of huge and cool character development.

ERPers and drama makers are not welcome.

RULES

-ERP is not welcome. Even if we encourage relationships and even romances between characters, if your wish is to take a virtual std, well… Goldshire is the best place for you and your interests.
-Avoid useless drama.
-Avoid unjustified mary sue stuff and snowflaky behaviour.
-Education first of everything.

F.A.Q

-Do we have a uniform?

We do not expect our members to wear any kind of uniform, by the condition to keep in any case your mogs close to our guild’s aesthetics. The only mandatory requirement is to wear the Scarlet tabard, or the Lordaeronian one when required (guild insignia).

-How do we approach other Scarlets?

We are supposed to redeem them, and bring our brothers back to the ‘honorable ways’. Still, it is clear that many (if not) most of them won’t listen, and even try to harm/kidnap/kill you. You are allowed and supposed to defend yourself.

-I am interested, how the recruitment works?

The recruitment topic will soon be updated. We’re currently working on an intersting concept.

If interested, however, poke me when online (Rádnor) or send an in-game IC mail. Your joning will immediatly be sorted.

It seems quite peculiar that the Argent Crusade would entrust Radnor as “Lord Commander” and personally offer him “Dagren the Orcslayers” sword, considering he’s so prone to dipping his colours and fighting for the enemy.

I get you’re trying to do a “good scarlet” themed guild, it appears more out of necessity though than it does out of sense. I’ve had little experience with you before, but I’ve somewhat noticed your character growing expeditionary both in names and titles, since about August. For example he’s suddenly a ‘Duke’ now?

I think out of general the concept of “friendly scarlets” is like trying to sail a sunken ship, I’m not going to ramble on into too much detail of why. And I’m here more to point out that character development is cool, but assuming greater and greater titles by the month just appears like a memeish power grab. And that you’d be a lot better off probably taking on a new character for this even to make mild sense.

I appreciate your reply, but you’re simply stating something without even know the story behind Radnor’s titles, and stuff. First of everything, the noble title has always been part of his background. He’s the son of a minor noble of Stratholme(a Duke), and never hidden that since the very beginning of his story(I begun to roleplay him in the beginning of last Summer). The funny thing is that people from your own guild are aware of that well enough. As about his titles, it is something he owned with his own IC actions. This said, I spent a really short amount of time in your enviroment, before focusing on my own projects, and only -then- (re)join the Argent Crusade as second in command of the Sun. About Dagren’s blade, it Is a Warcraft III Reforged easter egg that I took ICly for a while, but it is not even part of my character anymore, and by your answer it appears clear that you haven’t even read the whole AA post I made about it. But again, it’s fine. I just wonder why you (in)directly tried to strike to my character when we barely know each other, instead simply shouting your view about this project(which is appreciated, I wish to remark). Wish you guys the best of lucks.

A rebellion against what, exactly? There is no Scarlet Crusade to rebel against anymore. It’s gone, dead, buried, exhumed, raised into undeath, killed and buried again as an organisation. As the remnants of the Renegades, presumably, you wouldn’t even have a fraction of the resources the remaining Scarlets have - that rebellion was put down and squashed ((if it even happened to begin with*)).

What is your stance on the Alliance or the Argent Crusade? On non-humans? How is this guild meant to stand out compared to, say, the Blood of the Martyr? And how do they view Joseph the Awakened’s descent into Joseph the Insane?

A duke is as far from ‘minor nobility’ as you can get without being royalty.

*it’s pretty probable that Joseph and his Renegades are a game mechanic that simply let Alliance players do the quest in the Monastery since his Horde counter-part, Dark Ranger Velonara, offers the same quests and later appears in WoD saying her actions against the Crusade granted her a promotion that opened up new opportunities for her.

I’m not striking you down, you’ve reacted as if I was. If you cannot handle criticism thrown towards your character and your roleplay, you shouldn’t advertise it up on a public forum if you’re going to meltdown over it. Furthermore a Duke is far from minor nobility.

We do not know eachother, I had since stepped down as leader before you joined the Cathedral. Though I have noticed your character about the place, and whenever I do, I see that my expectations are ultimately overriden.

The fake news pamphlets from BfA seem to suggest there’s a Scarlet something still in working order - however diminished in numbers and influence.

I’d be hesitant to invoke the Scarlet Crusade as a genuine enemy however - as Alannyse says, theirs is a history of repeated defeats, corruption, and ultimately unfulfilled ambitions. Whatever are left of them - and haven’t joined the Crimson Pilgrims in their quest for redemption - are unlikely to hold a candle to the organisation it once was.

Aye there still seems to be a Scarlet movement in some form, we know the Onslaught survived until Legion and it’s not really definite during the priest order hall stuff that we stopped them entirely but rather just did a prison break on a few saner sort who became the crimson pilgrims.

According to the propaganda pamphlets which could either be true or not the Scarlet remnants are safeguarding the child of Calia Menethil, or the believed child anyway being the last heir of the Menethil line according to their propaganda.

We also know it seems they are somewhat supportive of Greymane in a sense of removing the Banshee Queen and the Forsaken from their lands and then eventually turn on the cursed dog. Though this was before Sylvanas went team Jailer.

Would you look at that my Old GM returning to his post count me in Old boss.

Thank you for the many replies. As a few stated, there is still Scarlet movement, around Lordaeron, being it propaganda or even IC stuff.
There’s a page on gamepedia/wowpedia which explains the basics of our concept.

Also, hail, Knight Sunspear!

I almost forgot to mention that we’ll work on some sort of ‘diplomacy’, between we Renegades and the Alliance. As about non-humans: It is part of our code to not kill another living being, if not truly needed. So even if we won’t easily befriend them, nor allow them to join our ranks, there is no reason to be hostile at all.

There isn’t.

There is… Try to google ‘Scarlet Renegades’. I feel a but goof, but when I try to insert the link into the reply it says that ‘I am not allowed to insert links in the post’.

If you use the </> Button on the link you post it bypasses the system!

I’m sorry, but a brief story from an expansion released 11 years ago does not answer the basics of your concept. Least of all because there’s also several years in-universe between that story and Shadowlands.

11 years… My god…

“Sir Radnor!”, the young woman said.
"Sir Radnor, wake up! "…

The Knight opened his only good eye left, awakening. He gazed around the small hut, taking a deep breath.
‘Another dream’, he thought.
‘Abigail…’.
A small smirk emerged on his lips, at the memory of his former Squire. He dreamt about the very first weeks of their training, in Stormwind City.
Light only knew what may happened to her, after the return of the Undead nightmare.
Radnor got slowly up from the bed, heading to the hut’s main and single entrance, allowing his gaze to space all around Westfall’s fields.
Once back inside, the Paladin begun to ponder on the next move.
After a small valutation of the options at hand, he decided to focus his newly-founded Chapter’s efforts on a usual report of Undead sighting in Duskwood.
It was the perfect chance to put his new comrades’ skills at a good test.
And to settle the very first piece of cobblestone on the long path of the Scarlet’s redemption.
Radnor glanced to the blessed greatsword, which was ‘peacefully’ leaning against the single table present.
The man admired the new, sharpened shape of his blade. Deadly, hard lines. A true weapon of retribution, as explained by the many engraved runes on the deadly instrument of the Holy Light’s wrath.
‘Vengeance’.
A good name.
Taking another long breath, the Knight nodded to himself.
There was a lot of work, which needed to be done. They needed men, resources, shelters, to build up their own resistance against the forces of evil. Even before to head back to Lordaeron.
Suddenly, he remembered Athena’s words:
“You are not forced to do it, Radnor.”
The Holy Light only knew how truly ‘forced’ he was.
TO BE CONTINUED…

It’s a repeat anytime this concept pops up.

“The idea doesn’t really work - it’s been displayed repeatedly ingame”

“Yeah but here’s some lore that supports the idea.” From over a decade ago

And that, in their mind, is reason enough to carry on with the concept. An age old passage that is no longer relevent.

Are you true Scarlet Crusaders or not?
