SITREP 01C: Recruitment & Training (04-08-2019)

The conclusion of a 14 day period of intensive training has culminated in a low-level deployment to Duskwood. Soldiers are now entering the final phase of their transformations from civilian to combat ready Infantrymen.

Alongside their training modules, the deployment to Duskwood has seen the troops execute all their prior training against low-level threats in numerous incidents.

From culling the undead, to ambushing and capturing Trolls that stray in from Stranglethorn. Neutral parties that wander the road have also been thoroughly vetted at military checkpoints; ensuring no subterfuge takes place in Alliance lands.

The troops will remain stationed in the region for several days yet, although, an NCO cadre to expand the command team approaches.

Rumour of a more intensive combat deployment is also on the winds.

this would be epic

I’ve heard a lot of good things about this adventuring guild. Keep it up!

I don’t know why, but whenever I see this guild on Alliance, I instantly hear the NPC’s from the Wrathgate Cinematic at the start.

“For the Light!”
“For Lordaeron!”
“For the Alliance!”

Our fellow adventurers are what makes this community so great to play in, it wouldn’t be the same without it! Much, much love! Those flash-backs, Princess Leia, sound like PTSD! Seek medical help! :open_mouth:

I’m off the arcwine now!! I promise…!

Alright, I don’t know where to start but it has been a long ride for the last ten years. The ride continues, will it ever stop? I hope not. That is honestly a bit hard for me to grasp. I need some time to allow it all to sink in. The Stormwind Infantry is still around, and that is an achievement in itself if you ask me.

I joined the Stormwind Infantry back in 2009, when the guild was mustered by the one and only, Commander A. Averheim. Honestly, that man is quite a character. A cloud of mystery engulfs that man. My character, Veteran Kheldar O’Neil barely knows the man, and he has been in service under him for over a decade.

Veteran K. O’Neil is one of many decorated soldiers, within the ranks of the Sword’s Regiment, Sixth Battalion, Dragon Company. I know it’s a mouthful, but it sounds good, doesn’t it? Why the name ‘Dragon’ Company you may ask? Enlist and you will have the answer on that one as well. The book is thick, It has been many chapters regarding the Strormwind Infantry over the years.

O’Neil has been awarded the Combat Ribbon. Awarded after facing the King’s enemy in a combat deployment. At the same time you can look forward to be awarded the Campaign Ribbon, awarded for service in the Army during a campaign.

These two awards will go hand in hand. Feels good to be recognized for your service to the King and the Alliance, doesn’t it?

If you are still in the Regiment after a year of service, look forward to pin the next ribbon upon that ribbon racket, the Veteran Service Ribbon. Awarded to those who have served in six consecutive campaigns of over a week in length.

You will never leave a battlefield without casualties. That is absolutely the worst. You know why you are there, and you know what you are fighting for. For some of the troops it may just be about revenge. Maybe they had family members that was killed during the Third War, when the Lich King and his Scourge attacked and destroyed Lordaeron? For others it’s just about protecting the ones they left behind.

“The soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war”. - Human Priest

A brother or sister will unfortunately be badly injured or killed on the battlefield, you can’t avoid that, whether if you like it or not.

To recognize this you will be awarded the Purple Heart. Awarded and received upon sustaining major injury in the line of duty.

War is not pleasant, don’t believe anything else, but in time you will know what the Army is, and what it stands for. Eventually it will start to grow on you too.

“Well fought, good job soldier! You survived another day!”

You are back in the lush forests of Elwynn Forest. The harvest is finished, and you are back in Stormwind. You need time to lick the wounds, and you will need the time to heal. Why not hit the streets of Stormwind in an attempt to enlist more recruits to bolster our ranks?

Now you are a bit older, a couple of years may have passed. You are a seasoned soldier and you know your stuff! You will probably have a few battle scars, heck you may even lack one of your limbs, but damn… Those stories you will share by that campfire, quite some stories, I tell you! The new recruits are looking at you in awe.

Now you have earned another ribbon, the Stalwart Service Ribbon. Awarded to those who have served in a total of twelve non-consecutive campaigns of over a week in length.

What, another award? What pin is that?

The Crossed Swords Pin. Awarded to the Regiment’s most elite soldiers.

Alright, that was emotional, I don’t deserve all that. This is a team effort. The band of brotherhood is very strong in the Army, (By the way, the Band of Brothers on HBO is awesome!) it really is and when you spend so much time with each-other, yes it’s like having a second family. For others, like with Veteran K. O’Neil… it is the only family he will have.

Oh come on, not another award!

The Long Service Medal. Awarded to a soldier upon several year’s worth of service in the Army.

The cycle continues, and the years are passing by so fast. You are enlisted to the Army, the Westbrook Garrison will be your new home, where your training will begin.

Training has been divided into three modules. That would be Green Phase , Blue Phase and finally the Gold Phase, 11 modules in total! Quite the experience in it’s own way, to role-play your charcater through the training period.

After that you will probably deploy somewhere on Azeroth, do your King, the Alliance and your family proud. You are coming back home after a month of combat, more brothers and sisters in arms has been killed, and the process to heal and lick your wounds will start all over again.

By this time a decade has passed, and you realize that the Sword’s Regiment, Sixth Battalion, Dragon Company are yet still here! Oh damn, not again, I’m getting even more emotional.

Veteran K. O’Neil is one of few who has been awarded the following reward within his Company;

The Alliance Legion of Valor is the highest military honor awarded to soldiers of the Alliance. The award is given to Alliance soldiers of exceptional military prowess and courage, who save the lives of their fellow comrades or the lives of Alliance citizens during an armed conflict or peacetimes.

Combatants of every branch of the Alliance military may be nominated for the award. Collectively, recipients of the Legion of Valor are known as Heroes of the Alliance.

The speech during the medal ceremony, given by Commander A. Averheim was written down by Veteran K. O’Neil in his diary after the ceremony. The speech goes as follows;

“The final man we honour this night, is a man we all know the name of. A presence of warmth, and whom I dare say holds the most loyalty to this unit any of us can claim. A man that loves the colours we have raised, and a soldier that stands with our unit, no matter the front-line, no matter the land, the enemy… No matter -where- the portal takes us.”

“This award is reserved for Stormwind’s heroes. Men and women that go down in legend. You service to the Army rivals my own. Veteran Kheldar O’Neil, the King himself has approved your medal award of the ‘Alliance Legion of Valor’. This medal is neigh impossible to gain.”

“You honour this Company with your continued service. We’re running out of rewards to give you.” - CMDR A. Averheim

I’m not bringing all this up to brag about my achievements with the character I have been playing on for so long. I mentioned it, in hope to give you a bit of insight in how immersive a military guild like this can be. I’m sure there are tons of guilds out there who are doing a great job in this as well. The best of luck to you guys, keep it up!

If this is something that you are looking for, regarding military role-play and all what it includes, let us know and we will help you out in the best possible way.

I love our community a lot as well, we are a good bunch of people, we really are. I’m looking forward to see you out there, and hopefully you will end up as one of our new members.

SITREP 01D: Passing Out Parade (07-08-2019)

“A toast, to the company!” a cry rang out in the Blue Recluse, which was echoed promptly by the armour-clad protector’s of the white city. The celebration had begun, and an buzz of excitement rang true across the gathered soldiers. Tonight, they had come together to honour the success of the recruits whom had just endured a full cycle of regimented battle training. The Infantry School of Combat was no easy course to pass, especially when so thoroughly laid on from start to finish.

These new recruits could be depended on to do the job right, and everyone was excited to see them don their lion’s tabards.

Before any of that, how-ever, the weight of an important history had to be unveiled. The company marched forth to Lion’s Rest, where they each placed a hand against the wall of the honoured immortals. Our fallen. They knew that the weight of the company’s history and all the honour of the fallen now fell to them. It was time to ditch the silly mistakes, and take up the mantle of fighting soldier.

In effort to help ease their minds, a prayer of the Light was offered by Brother Drakswald. A fatherly figure known to the Recruits from early training days - whom proudly beseeched the Light on their behalf, to empower them to face the evils yet to come.

The night culminated in the promotion ceremony, where recruits shed their blank tabards and received their lion’s crests proudly.

Congratulations, soldiers of Stormwind!

My journey within the Stormwind Infantry has been one of the most enriching roleplay experience’s I have had in the game to date. Its got its stressful notes but it makes up for them with great people and fantastic structure to the events.

Kal joined them around 3 months ago now being a wandering Ranger he had a stubborn streak about him with his normal instinct to be in the wild and not follow the main rules like the unit he joined up with. But now he has found himself more then just a unit to fight with. but a Unit to fight for, He made his way through the ranks rather fast with his Rival ranger in the unit being a milestone for one another to push harder and become stronger.

The attention to detail for realism in medic roles. engineer roles and the pre deployment management and care of weapons feels like we are being real to life and gives a oomph that makes each day a pleasure.

Now Kaladen my character is a First Ranger alongside his “Rival” and head the scout section of the Infantry he has come a long way since he joined and im proud to be a part of it!

SITREP 02a: Pre-deployment (17-08-2019)

Ever since the passing out parade, the Dragons have been hunting down stolen azerite across the southern regions. A black market auction, which had since been shut down by an Army raid, had sold the cache on to a most evasive buyer.

Someone with a lot of money, or a lot of powerful friends, was using their financial influence to carry out a scheme of devious experiments on the dead.

Fighting troops had been successful in locating and destroying a key laboratory of the buyer, but the buyer himself remains at large. For now, SI:7 is doing what they can to find the next target.

In the meanwhile, troops have been specializing in key cadres which will aid them significantly as a self-sustaining fighting force over the coming week. Now, more than ever, since marching orders for deployment have come in.

With the case of the stolen azerite on the back-burner, a Horde siege force threatens REDACTED and immediate pre-deployment preperations are underway.

Siege engineers are test firing the mortars, whilst stacking defensive equipment high in the stores. Medical officers are conducting medical checks and issuing sea sickness pills.

It will only be a few days until all hell breaks loose.

While I may not be in the guild anymore, the time I spent with the Infantry was arguably some of the best RP i’ve had the pleasure of experiencing on WoW.

SITREP 03a: Homecoming (26/08/2019)

Another week spent in the defence of the Hinterlands, the enemy attempted to swarm Aerie Peak and failed their siege efforts on day one. The rest of the week was spent hunting down their scattered forces across the northern woods.

After securing Alliance territories and fortifying Dwarven defences, the Fighting Sixth shipped home to Stormwind.

It is here, a mustering post at City Hall was formed - and new bloods are now being enlisted in to the ranks. Meanwhile, local operations are taking place to clean up the King’s borders.

New orders are expected in the coming weeks.
