[A-RP] The Charnel Knights - Geas of the Nathrezim

The Ebon Blade has followed its new Highlord into the swirling chaos that is The Maw. Knights, previously sworn to a single duty - A solemn purpose: to oppose and combat the Scourge, driving the rampant hordes back into their shallow graves.
Now, these oaths seem all but forgotten and laid to the wayside. Some may claim that the threat orchestrated by the Banshee Queen outweighs the vows we have sworn long ago; we say different.
For better or worse, we are those few that choose to stay upon this mortal plane of existence. Our blades will rend and sever. Our steeds shall run across rivers of blackened blood.
We remain - And do what the living cannot.

Hello AD,

The Charnel Knights is a band of Death Knights set on a warpath against the Scourge. Their main focus being character development and the portrayal of the hero class, targeting the more nuanced aspects of undeath and particularities that make the Death Knight so diverse: the almost symbiotic relationship with their Runeblade, the antonymic and twisted knightly values and a strained, cutthroat sense of camaraderie.

Despite being a roving warband, traits like individuality are highly regarded, as such details that give a character more depth are preferred. This can be something like naming your runeweapon and having a backstory for it (for example a family heirloom passed on for generations, only to be sullied by the taint of shadow) or forge a deeper bond with your Deathcharger. These are just some of the aspects that help solidify your character into something more. Given the widely varied nature of the Death Knight, many more unique traits are possible.

The guild utilises a ‘Dicemaster’ system to further help players breathe more life into their characters via custom spells that cannot be found in your average spellbook. This also provides a more interesting approach to the mundane rolling system we are all too familiar with. The events consist of DM’d, arc-styled stories that will be progressed through by the players; stories aimed to bring out the most out of these ruthless, by-all-means necessary type characters that the Death Knight embodies.

Alongside this, The Charnel Knights want to bring to light the cruelty and discipline former scourge warriors are still capable of. Making decisions that are the most beneficial at the right situation, regardless of mortal notions such as morality and ethics that hamper the better judgement of a honed mind. These types of choices will be taken in events where the enemy does not think twice before planting a dagger in your back.

Among many others, The Charnel Knights aim to provide the following at a high-quality level:

• A unique setting for Death Knights, based around antonymic knightly values and chivalrous intent.
• Original and engaging, fully covered story arcs and events.
• A welcoming OOC environment with unscheduled casual Role-Play opportunities.
• A learning haven for those new yet interested in Death Knight Role-Play.

At least for the time being, The Charnel Knights will have their main focus on Alliance-based Death Knight characters. This is not to say that we will not cooperate, interact and ally ourselves with Brothers and Sisters from the opposing faction-- Or Neutral ones for that matter.

We are currently experiencing a large influx of signs of interest from a varied selection of avenues.

The Officer team is trying to get through all these as quickly and properly as possible, but be forewarned that you may have to await your reply for a tad longer than usual.

The Charnel Knights aim to have a limited roster count. This number has yet to be confirmed, but it will be significantly smaller than most other retinues.

Have a good one, lads and lasses.

I shall keep the existence of this guild in mind, I may be looking to branch out as I’ll be having more time on my hands with my foot off the PvE pedal!

My foremost ebon knight, Meikai, was there for Roderick’s dark return if my memory does not fail me, so it does present an in!

Having had atleast some basic interaction with the three recruiting officers, I can wholly suggest this guild for any and all Alliance Death Knight RPers!

Good to see some compitition to the status-quo, and the best of luck to your guild, guys!

Best of luck to these veterans of Death Knight roleplay. Delighted to see the community weather the tough times these last few expansions and come to life once more.

The Knights intervened in a battle between Argents and Scarlets, striking at both the two camps of Crusaders. Sadly, due to both Argent desertion and a cohort of Scarlet reinforcements, the Death Knights were forced to flee.

Alas, some of the Charnel banners did not appreciate the indiscriminate slaughter wanted by their comrades. The bloodshed thus continued in Acherus where the defeated warriors sought to expel their frustration by cleaving each other.

One’s thing for sure, only the reminder of their true enemy will manage to mend those bellicose intentions. Against the Scourge, all their blades will be pointed at the common foe… The track goes on.

With a final string of words, uttered in a tongue most foul, did the Knight finalise a ritual he had been toiling with for the better part of two hours. Sickening, fluorescent green hues now emanated from the ichor-like liquid that filled the cauldron he had been stood next to.

Clasping shut the tome from which he had borrowed ancient knowledge and guidance, Sir Roderick sought to behold his latest addition to the forward outpost; a restorative bile - Ichor, imbued with magic most devious and lethal to all but the most twisted and vile creatures that roam this mortal plane. Lucky for him and his fellow Knights, that is exactly what they required. Roderick’s gaze fell upon certain other aspects of the room in which he found himself - Deep within the soil, protected by antechamber upon antechamber, lay the main crypt in which the Charnel Knights conducted their operations.

Over time, the Knight had taken it upon himself to equip the once modest and barren base with certain items and services of worth: specialised tools and kits, to be utilised for Runic weaponry and armament maintenance. Maps, scrolls and tomes of knowledge, all containing information most vital to their immediate cause. Prior to this, he had already finalised constructing a quasi-permanent anchor point for a Death Gate-- to be used only to those who knew of its existence, of course.

His footfalls and overall cadence echoed heavily from the dust encrusted walls, as Roderick placed the tome back within one of the hastily constructed shelves. His fellow Knights, his Brothers and Sisters-- they cared little for the duties he had taken upon himself. Seeking instead immediate gratification and bloody battle, they failed to remind themselves that every successful skirmish is birthed in a war room; planning, a tactical approach, a keen mind… These aspects of warfare had a most pivotal place in this crypt as well.

Facing the anchor point, he was on the cusp of returning to the Ebon Hold for a spell, yet a thought occurred to him. Turning instead to the immediate exit of the crypt, Sir Roderick gave but the faintest of apathetic chortles as he ascended the staircase.

There’s sure to be some great, traditional Scourge-hating Ebon Knight roleplay with this motley crew. Good luck with it, guys!

Thanks for the kind words :pray:

The Charnel Knights are currently taking part in the RP-PVP in Stromgarde, helping the Alliance deal with the dark forces of the loyalist host. Using fire against fire, the knightly band will stop at nothing to tear bloody victory from the dead fingers of those Forsaken. Will the alliance of convenience between the Stromic defenders and the Ebon Blade lead to something more ? Only the Light knows.

Strengthened and once more unto the breach; The Charnel Knights ready themselves to dedicate their every waking hour to eradicating the rampant Scourge from this mortal plane once more.

We have since perfected our Dicemaster system, and it’s now officially out of its ‘beta’ phase. With a fully written guide to boot, I might add.

Let it be known to all that would doubt us: We do what the living cannot.

Looks at dead Argent Crusaders we killed yesterday

Y-yeah! Scourge, totally! Dedicating every waking hour to eradicating them, and doing nothing of the sort that could get us in trouble! Nope, just dealing with scourge, yessir.

With the successful return of their Knightly Chapter from the forests of Drustvar, Acharon Berwick and Roderick took to devising their follow-up foray into the accursed region.

Due to a chance encounter with spirits more knowledgeable than expected, the Chapter found themselves with crucial information at their disposal; a Chalice. Resting deep within the very heart of a gargantuan, twisted tree-- And guarded by malignant wicker golems.

Before long, the Knights would put a final stop to the foul witchcraft that had taken the lives of far too many guardsmen in the area.

A decent band of engaging Death Knight roleplayers.

If you seek to delve into gritty and cadaverous roleplay for your darkened champion, then look no further, in these times of strife and contempt. :skull:

Rumblings in the crypt were precipitated by a loud thud as ghouls marched down and placed a stone slab in the most secluded corner of the crypt chamber. Eight lines were written upon it and nothing else. The monument stood vigilant and unfaltering for all to see.

       1. Courage begets strength, cowardice begets weakness
       2. Iron strengthens iron
       3. Pain is temporary, victory is forever
       4. A sullied runeblade is no runeblade at all
       5. Suffer not the Scourge to live
       6. Cruelty has a mortal heart
       7. The bowed head deserves to be cut off
       8. To trust a mortal is to invite deceit into your fold

Not long after the Sepulcher bore the weight of this stone slab did a secondary set of heavy footfalls echo and cascade through the desolate crypt, carrying a similar object. Where the former read eight lines, here there were but three - Yet each section of the Code was paragraphed for all to witness, as the final stone slab was hauled and thus placed next to the initial one.

The Code of The Damned
MIGHT
Let not the gift of our dark rebirth be squandered on temperance and mercy;
The weak and pitiful - Those of meek composure;
I renounce thee;
We, Knights of Ebon, hail this single truth, lest we forget;
That Might makes Right.
GUILE
As your weapon is honed and tempered in the crucible of endless conflict, so too let your mind be sharpened in equal measure;
A maintained blade, your eternal companion, shall serve you only so far;
Keen minds conquer battlefields and dominate wars, forcing victory from the hands of your adversaries;
You strategy shall be ruthless, as you leave naught but Death in your wake - An enigma, incomprehensible, to all but yourself.
ARDOR
In Death we shall stand - United;
What ties bound us in life shall be severed - Oaths unfulfilled shall remain broken and spent;
In Death our purpose is rekindled anew;
We stand as one singular bulwark - A sepulchre from which no horror shall escape;
In Death we embrace the Brother, The Sister - And do what the living cannot.
