[A-RP] The Crown Confederacy — A Stormwind Project

Can confirm, looks promising though, glad to see so many GM’s in one place working together though!

On topic of horde it would be interesting to have cross faction, I would also want to know how Neutrals would play into it, given they have their own codes of conduct, Hopefully things can be more flexible for them.

pls dont swear in this thread

Would be nice, just like the scenario which Zul and Talanji were freed… Covert missions are pretty based.

Good to hear Hand of Zul could be taking part. They are really wholesome group ICly, just a bunch of nice trolls, definitely nothing shady red-blood-snakey culty going on there, all the people who disappear during their visits to Alliance towns are taken on a holiday to farm in Stranglethorn where they can all play and have fun.

A new challenger arrives.

No need, slander is an offence, I’m sure Shonn can handle his own complaints to Blizzard about Tellingworth’s constant slander in various threads on various toons. If he takes it further then that is up to him. Have a good weekend.

Can people lynch the Bayerleyns elsewhere. This is not the thread for it.

You know its time to move on when Galford is Right :stuck_out_tongue:

ANYWAY! On Topic, I am hopeful this succeeds. I think a focus, at first at least, on more neglected areas like Trade RP might help? I know people are wary of law and criminal RP, and for a reason. But having more market stuff and, heck, dockyard stuff? Imagine Kul Tirans having to navigate the harbour masters office and beauracracy and the like?

I wouldn’t be worried. The initiative will literally kill itself if it tries to enforce any kind of IC power structure and authority. I am thrilled, though, because current SW (both RP-wise but also just in lore) does not represent war-time very well. If nothing else this is a great opportunity to get some more organic casual RP going, AND portray a story that actually makes sense. We have to keep in mind that ICly this might be one of the lengthiest and ambitious war campaigns the Alliance has been to in one go in terms of geographic movement, the supplies that would’ve taken and how many casualties there have already been.

Some story ideas, just off the top of my head:

  • Something with the Kaldorei refugees. (From what I can tell in SW-RP, has that darn tree even burned?) Mages from the Tower having to come down to the camps and conjure up food and drink- because regular stocks are so low. Or even have some sort of storyline where there’s sickness spreading amongst the refugees. Because that’s a big risk, knowing from irl.

(Somewhat late idea. Should probably have been done sooner, since many of the refugees might’ve headed off with Tyrande. The civilian refugees are still in SW, I suppose.)

  • The immediate areas surrounding SW become more dangerous, including Westfall, Redridge and Duskwood. The war will have siphoned a lot of people, local guardsmen, and even farmers now from those areas (As Anduin so kindly pointed out to us in that gorgeous cinematic). We all know the history of Westfall and Duskwood - so now would be an opportune time for these kind of storylines in say, DMd guild events, or even just the talk-of-the-town.

  • As for trading or merchant RP as mentioned above I’d suggest a heavy emphasis on weapon import (perhaps from Kul Tiras), metals, ores, food, herbs & medicine. Some basic necessities that would realistically be stretching thin.

  • Bringing some life back to Old Town - which I know is already an idea in the works. With an organised initiative like this it could last longer, and get some people away from Cath. Even with what I said earlier about the other areas being dangerous, thematically it’s perfect for SW criminal guilds. But the criminal/guard-guild balance is a whole other discussion.

Peace hoes.

The fact Perroy and his usual goons are backing and defending this with vitriol so heavily proves it’s something to be avoided like the plague and yet another attempt at grabbing any shred of relevance and authority they can.

I don’t mean to argue, I truly don’t, but I’d really wish peeps didn’t see/think this initiative is some sort of ‘power grab’ and instead regard it rather as a new and fresh opportunity for interesting and dynamic RP.

As someone who used to RP in Stormwind near constantly when I was younger, I personally would have appreciated some change to the RP that goes on there, as it becomes stale very fast dependant on your character.

(and I say this without having any ties to Perroy or the PCU or anything, so its not just them who would back this sort of idea :D)

if you actually care about roleplay instead of really dull and overplayed forum grudges, you’d see this as a good initiative

i honestly don’t care if people are ‘’‘mean’’’ on the forums if they’re producing good roleplay - which is what the server’s for

i’d be more sympathetic to the anti-pcu people if they produced even half as many quality initiatives as the pcu does, but they don’t

Another interesting theme to explore could be about trade wars or rivalries, since we know from the lore that nobles control quite a lot of land in Stormwind and have substantial economic power.
Or maybe their power was broken by druids growing the food on the farm and imports from Kul Tiras. Maybe some Alliance general told Lord Krankenwagen that he will be selling wood for ships at lower price than he used to, to fund Alliance´s war effort. Maybe imports from Drustvar brought iron prices down and lord who owned a mine is now going bankrupt, trying his best to find some new way of funding his extravagant lifestyle.

Basically noble RP that is based on lore of Stormwind, not Westeros. There are many themes that could be explored as part of this, especially with the war raging on.

I see a lot of folks whining about elitism.

Y’all motherfckers need some elitism in your life. Trust me, it’s a necessary improvement over todays standard of public RP.

oh, is this the part where you repeat this for hours but then announce that you were actually just baiting xDDDDD in hopes that anyone believes you? That’s my favourite part.

Preach it, holding grudges is  just see if the RP is good and if not just dodge it just like I dodge gnome RPers.

The ones who do that are coincidentally often the ones who are bdrp  coinkydinky? I don’t thinky.

An interesting point coming from an alt on ravencrest. Congrats on your first post. :unamused:

Sounds like an interesting initiative! In continutation of Dorlas’ post, how does the aristocracy of Stormwind (and the greater kingdom) fit into the pentagonal framework of this project, or can guilds/groups operate independently of the factions and still be involved in the overall narrative?

The Discord link is expired, btw. Otherwise I’d 110% join that.

I mean, say what you like about certain people and the PCU (and I have, openly, in the past when I’ve found the memery getting too rampant to deal with :stuck_out_tongue: ) but… I’d take Orgrimmar RP over Stormwind 10 times out of 10. I’ve not engaged with them too much in the past, and simply don’t have the time at the moment due to work and life stuff, but one thing you cannot argue is that they. Make. RP. Happen.

Whether it’s RP-PVP events (which I kept track of on the forums, and noticed that very few people had criticism/negativity to offer about the recent campaign, as opposed to the other RP-PVP events that have been run/crashed recently) or general city presence or engaging people who are perhaps reading the writing on the wall re: the Horde and ‘civil disobedience’ (why do you do this to us, Blizzard?) they are, first and foremost, making RP happen.

If people want change, they have to MAKE changes, they can’t just sit around and whine and go “We want things to change!” and then, when people start doing it, go “No, not like that!”
