You don’t need to quote me, I am not involved beyond joining the discord (and that is because I’m nosy not because I am invested in Alliance RP)
I will make a thread about my far more sinister project later today in your honour
I think you were not involved at all if you don’t know about the forum all new recruits were directed to / don’t know about the lawbook / don’t know what the entry-level rank was called
What was your character called, if I might inquire
The canonical Alliance-side commander from the WoD garrison campaign
There’s ways to word criticism which are less hyperbolic and aggressive. If you use a more level-headed and civil tone, you might get a similar tone in response.
Elaboration also helps. “This project is going to be exclusive and elitist” is always going to be less well-received than “I think this project is going to be exclusive and elitist because of five or so paragraphs of explanation, but I hope you’ll prove me wrong.”
I mean, some people are always going to be condescending, abrasive or meme at you, but you’re not really going to get anywhere by stooping to the same level. You sort of earned this response with the quality of the criticism you leveled at them.
As a mere train of thought, might it be an idea to (at a certain moment) split the framework from the narrative?
My thought originates from the original premise that aim is to provide a structure to Stormwind and provide a surrounding that encourages RP. While I appreciate the need of a narrative in order to build a framework, I understand that the intended result is to provide Stormwind with a foundation that allows for continued RP in the Capital of the Alliance. Which framework I now understand to remain regardless of the narrative. Though do correct me if I am wrong in that respect.
Yep, that’s right — the framework can exist without the narrative, the narrative not without the framework, but I don’t see any reason to cut the narrative elements, especially in the absence of others running public plots in Stormwind.
Feels weird to be looking forward to something Stormwind related. It’ll be especially interesting to see if existing groups or new ones end up being more keen to fill certain roles.
Yeah, it’s a feeling I haven’t really felt for years and years. This is really quite exciting for everyone who used to enjoy the relatively high quality Stormwind scene we had.
Roger, thanks for clarifying. I wholeheartedly agree there is no reason to cut the narrative elements, on the contrary. My question was more aimed at the possibility that at a certain moment the created framework can exist independently of the narrative.
I feel like if you’d ever had any good intentions RE offering useful input, your first (now-deleted) post wouldn’t have been an immediate, lazy one-line attack.
Feel free to offer your input, but I can’t promise I’ll read or respond.
I do like the idea of having a reserve force stationed in Stormwind, especially with the high numbers of refugees there currently. It could lead to forces not only native to Stormwind but also Kaldorei etc being raised. I’m not sure my lads could really offer help with this, but we are in the capital normally for a week every month, as such we’d love to see more public events around.
(Also a corrupt army reserve would be an interesting RP plot line. Dong Zhou anyone?)
