[A-RP] The Dread Covenant - Alternative Cult of the Damned RP

“The drums of war have fallen silent; the world is plunged into a society of weakness and uncertainty. They fought and died, YOU fought and died to preserve the false agendas of failing ideologies. True evolution and advancement lie in conflict and power, unlock your true potential and usher in a golden age! Those who prove themselves worthy will find themselves immortalized, walking in a world of their design.”

The Concept

The Dread Covenant is a collection of three fanatical groups adopting elements of the original scourge, specifically the beliefs of the Cult of the Damned. They believe that through discovery of forbidden powers, they can push an ultimate evolution of society; immortalizing those who prove to be the most useful into everlasting leaders and inspirers. The three branches represent the means to gain control: the Shadowsworn are our dark academics, pushing for ground-breaking research and discovery of items of power to best evolve the races of Azeroth, from ancient Scourge rituals to the maddening artefacts of the Old Gods, the Duskwings focus on sowing dissent within the populace, planting the seeds of doubt and playing on peoples sense of self to instil mental conditioning, as well as infiltrating the political ranks and assassinating rivals, the Black Knights are the bulwark of the cause, testing their mettle against seemingly impossible odds, seeking to empower their physical selves to create the perfect fighting machines, this group ranges from fallen knights, maddened berserkers and renegade Death Knights.

We aim to bring a concept that provides a balance between villain/hero conflict, one that can remain as a constant and adapt to newer lore as expansions progress. Right now we look forward to seeing how our members interact with the discovery of the Shadowlands, inspiring these hell-cursed villains to utilize new fonts of power, knowledge and philosophy to further push their agenda of a society ran by the cogs of conflict, lead by their immortalised kingpins.

The leading body is a triumvirate, a Dark Council of three individuals with this unified vision in mind, each with their own motivations and agendas. Each member of the council has a personal Horseman which will act as the messenger to the rest of the sects, ensuring the machine is well-oiled. The focus of this is to provide three main themes of villainy that players may be interested in, allowing them to grow their characters within these sects and climb the ranks. Rewards for character progression are highly emphasised, alongside a general ranking system members will have the opportunity at any rank to achieve prestige titles, which are tailor made to specific circumstance (similar to how the Orcs have to earn their last names).

The Ranks

Acolyte – the trail rank, this gives new members the opportunity to get a feel for the organization, as well as time to decide on what sect they feel they best fit into. Usually this trail phase will last about 2 weeks.

Duskwing/Shadowsworn/Black Knight – These are the base ranks granted upon first entering a chosen sect.

Lieutenant – These will act as the rank and file officers, handing the bulk of the forces on missions and other things.

Horsemen – The personal honour guards of the council members, they act as the speakers for the council members, ensuring that their word is law, we have an idea of granting these ranks through specific trails and tournaments hosted by the Covenant, and will be considered a grand ceremony.

Dark Council – The dark prophets of the Covenant, defining their ideology and ensuring a maintained society.

If players are interested in getting involved, do contact us by our in-game characters: Castilius (Black Knight Leader), Melkõr (Shadowsworn Leader) and Enurnas (Duskwing Leader)

I hope you all have a good day and remember, evolution through power!

I do indeed have a plan to bring our malicious cult to Lordaeron sometime soon, always open to combating Scarlet RPers, especially the Swords of Orman

Same here! I already have some idea involving the different covenants, and that message spreading to the population still on Azeroth, and how our sects will interpret each covenant. I am hoping for some sith-like infighting in regards to this as well, plenty of oppourunities I like to think!
