The Grand Gilneas Games II

There was a time, not so long ago, where the city of Gilneas was almost forgotten by those of the wider kingdoms; and yet its people, with their raging hearts burning, never forgot. It was a year ago that the once thriving city was reclaimed from the hands of those wearing the Scarlet Flame. Many have returned, re-establishing their businesses in dusty and cobweb plagued buildings; brought their beds and their chests into broken homes and returned the canals and pathways to life. This tournament is the celebration of its reclamation. A celebration of its people. A celebration of its heart. It shall be running through the course of April’s first week, for seven days: 31st March 2025 - 6th April 2025.
The Games
The Grand Gilneas Games follows the tradition of most tourneys. From Lords and Ladies, to the common folk and less; any and all are welcomed to participate in the celebration and events that are held. Each game is regulated by either the host herself, or by outside and trusted sources of magical arts, or battle prowess. Some of these challenges do not require competition, asking instead for more creative solutions for success that should nevertheless be seen to be believed.

Opening Speeches Monday 31st - 20:00ST
Duelling - Monday 31st - 20:20ST
Dueling is the finest martial test there is - and also, more often than not, a way to settle a score. Whether that score is a long time history of fierce hatred, or a friendly bet made within the local tavern, who can say? Yet in the host of games and tourneys alike, in the Gilneas Games, they are a way to display one’s chivalry and commend others of equal skill. A defeated competitor may throw the gauntlet, but only if they feel their duelling partner has engaged in foul play, or other such underhanded tactics.
Riflery - Tuesday 1st - 20:00ST
Whilst the art of archery is well renowned throughout the entire world of Azeroth, the love Gilneans have for their firearms, and their rifles specifically, is well-known indeed. The shooting competition provides those with a love for the spark of gunpowder and hiss of bullets to show off their skills on the shooting-range, to prove their accuracy and skill. A wondrous target range has been created; shoot the wooden rabbits with the best accuracy, win the game!
Horse Racing & Fair Day - Wednesday 2nd - 20:00ST
Horse Racing: It is time to test your mettle, can you hold your reins and keep balance long enough to stick out the entire course? This will be the decider. As voted highest to the survey of what new events should be held at the second Grand Gilneas Games, horse racing was by far the most wanted! And so; the time to race around the city must be done, and done it shall be!
Fair Day: There are often times when tournaments have days upon days of events and wonderful things to watch; but sometimes, there are times where things can calm and people are given a chance to socialise. The Fair Day is just that! A calmer day, with only one main event, where peddlers and entertainers are given time to sell their wares to those who travel to see the joy of the Games. Jousting - Thursday 3rd - 20:00ST
A long celebrated way for Knights of the Lance to show their might and their skill atop fine destriers, and other mounts alike! Unlike duelling, the jousting participants are matched against one another beforehand, yet as they climb the ladder, that pool will shrink until only the finest lancing knight remains.
Druid Challenge - CANCELLED
Whilst Druidism is a beautiful and nature filled skill, the Harvest witches of Gilneas have a warmed heart to those of the land. Strife has always been something that they have faced, yet now is a time for them to be celebrated and brought back into the light of the home that has been reclaimed. Here; it will be shown and displayed the purity that comes with life magic, whether that of Druids or Harvest Witches with the growing of turnips for the end feast.
Magical Duels - Saturday 5th - 20:00ST
Whilst perhaps not as widely known or explicitly seen, magic has been a part of Gilneas since the beginning. With the reclamation of the land, all are welcome within the walls - even those of more magical means. What better place than the Gilneas Games to show their talent and might?! Similar, at least in theory, to the duels between warriors with blades, shields, spears and knives, wizards, witches, mages (and more!) are encouraged to come and display their magical prowess against opponents much like themselves in the magical duels.
Lyrical Challenge & Masquerade Ball- Sunday 6th - 20:00ST
Lyrical Challenge:Huzzah! For all those with a talent for musical and poetry, it is time to flex your skills! Bring harmony to the ears and tunes to the heart! For your time has come: when the feast does rise - to play your harp, your song, your twisting of tongue! Give joy to those who have suffered for so long, for now is the time to begin anew for in this hollow city of Gilneas, the lanterns are lit, once more.
The Masquerade: At the end of the games will be a grand masquerade ball. Those who attend are encouraged to find masks or costume to wear to hide physical identities and relish in the air of mystery whilst in attendance, but of course, this is not a demand that has to be fulfilled. There will be music given throughout the night online. A banquet shall be given with plenty of food to fill bellies throughout the night, along with paired and group dancing - all to be ended with a firework display to end the games and celebration.
The OOC Details:
Hello! It has been a year now since the reclaiming of Gineas both IC and OOC! Both something that brought much joy to players and role-players. Once more we plan to bring about a tourney to celebrate this!
Other Entertainment: The Games will be held over a week period, so there is the invitation for all whom would be interested in hosting their own stalls to come and join. Whether that is food, trade items or even if there are entertainers such as fortune tellers or even bards! The Masquerade Ball shall be held OOCly at the Greymane Manor. However should be taken ICly as a nobles restored building.
