[A-RP] The Seventh Legion - Sixth Cohort

We are the nameless, faceless, sons and daughters of the Alliance. By the Light and by the might of the Alliance, the first strike belongs to us and the last strike is all that our enemies see. We are 7th Legion

The Seventh Legion, sixth cohort

The Legion was born out of the men and women who accompanied Jaina Proudmoore to Kalimdor following the near-total destruction of Lordaeron by the former Prince Arthas Menethil at the behest of his master, the Lich King.

Lordaeron became a howling wilderness of corpses and demons. Many of the survivors fled south, but others went west with Lady Proudmoore and her loyal followers from Kul Tiras, as well as others such as the Gilnean Brigade. These disparate Human and Dwarven forces united under Lady Proudmoore and served with distinction on the slopes of Mount Hyjal, taking the first and heaviest brunt of the fighting against the demons and undead forces of Archimonde the Defiler.

With the resumption of contact between Theramore and Stormwind came a new Alliance, as the Dwarves, Gnomes and Humans of the Eastern Kingdoms allied with the mysterious Night Elves and Humans of Theramore. Together, these allies made formal what was already fact, and each supplied women and men to the front line fighting force of their combined armies. The High Elves who had traveled with Jaina to Theramore also contributed more than their share of battle mages to the 7th, giving it unparalleled flexibility as it could draw from each race's strengths to fill its ranks.

In more recent days the Legion has found itself on the front line of almost every war the Alliance has taken part in, using it's combined skills to overcome the most daring of obstacles, often serving alone or ahead of other Alliance forces.

What can you expect from us?

We will offer our members the opportunity to take part in an active military based roleplay guild! Taking a focus on RP-PvP as well as our own PVE campaigns, we shall offer our members the ability to develop and expand their characters as the guild grows. If you specialize in a certain roll we will seek to expand on that, for example if someone is amazing at making weapons we will make sure that becomes an important asset for the Legion.

What we're looking for from our members

We'll be aiming to recruit members who are as excited as we are at playing out a military type system! Be that working together to hold the front line against Horde forces or negotiating with locals to get access to information. We want to cover a whole spectrum of skill sets!

While it is not required for our members to be grizzly old veterans, we do ask that all characters seeking to join the Legion are prepared for transition from civilian to a military life style.

Ranking within the Legion

Captain: The highest rank within our cohort of the Legion, currently held by a Quel'dorei by the name of Theon Morningstar. The Captain is charge of the overall organisation and leadership of the cohort.

Lieutenant: The second in command of the cohort, the Lieutenant is capable of organizing and managing the legion in the stead of the captain! He/she will assist in the preparation of plans and political meetings.

Sergeant: The key role of the Sergeant is discipline, while the Legion are supposed to be the elite, no force is without need for discipline. The sergeant enforces the will of his superiors and makes sure that rest of the cohort keep the high standards of the legion, anywhere from monitoring the quality of uniforms and drill to dealing with deserters.

Corporal: Working directly under the sergeant, corporals are tasked with assisting the sergeant with enforcing discipline. However they are also some of the most experienced soldiers within the legion, and so can be used as anchors for the rest of the unit to form around!

Champion: A somewhat unique rank, champion is given to one individual at the start of each campaign! The role lasts for the period of the campaign. The champion will step up in any case that Legion is called to single combat, be that an honor duel or to deal with an enemy leader. Mostly however this roll is an honor, and anyone may be selected for it, from legionary to Lieutenant.

Legionary: The most common among the ranks of a cohort the legionary is the bread and butter of the Legion. Be it slinging spells or holding the front line, legionnaires are diverse and capable. To obtain the rank of legionary is to be a full fledged member of the legion, a member of the family.

Aspirant: Everyone has to start somewhere, be it transferring to legion or joining as a fresh recruit everyone will start life as an aspirant. They'll be under the scrutiny of the sergeant, having to prove to him that they're both mentally and physically fit enough to join the Legion. Once they have proved themselves they will swear their oath to the Legion and to the Alliance.

What does being "Elite" mean?

The 7th Legion without a doubt is an elite force, and that means that they are picked for the most dangerous missions and secret operations. However it is important to remember that you are still roleplaying a mortal, your character will grow tired, homesick, wounded perhaps even loose the will to fight. The type of 'elite' we're looking for isn't always going to be the best fighters, it's the correct mindset that is important to us, so if you're looking for a place to roleplay a god among men I suggest you look elsewhere.

The Legion will become active just before the Horde invasion of Ashenvale!

I think you've got the vast majority of this right from a military guild's perspective. Two nit picks with the ranks though:

a) Legionnaire is definitely a Horde rank. A member of any kind of body of troops named a legion should be a legionary. I would suggest you use Private or Trooper in an ideal world, but legionary is definitely a step up from legionnaire. In the real world, the latter typically refers to members of the French Foreign Legion.

b) Aspirant is a very knightly-ordery-housy-feudaly-wishy-washy rank and I don't think it suits a 7th Legion concept. Recruit, cadet, conscript, volunteer or levy all work much better for a military unit contingent to how you go about your enlistment.

Aside from that, no other holes to pick. Good luck. o>
Woops that's my Arma unit bleeding over! Legionary is what I was going for, sticking with the slight roman theme!
Good people, like them alot. Would strongly support people join them!!

A niche irregularity, but there are Alliance Legionnaires in the Plaguelands.

Had a bimble around, and the only thing I could find with regards to an Alliance Legionnaire was a single undead rare spawn using the Alliance PvP shield.

I'm more inclined to think that's an oversight than an indication.
Recruitment is going along happily, looking forward to Drums of War!
Always wanted to create a Seventh Legion based guild, and now you've taken that burden off my shoulders. If only I could find you guys online to join...
Oh sorry that you haven't been able to find us! I was knocked out of action for most of last night, I will be on all day recruiting today, so keep an eye out ^^

If we don't bump into each other feel free to add me on Discord and we can arrange a meeting!
Wouldn't it make more sense to have a human as the leader? I mean, The Seventh Legion is the best fighting force the Alliance has, just feel like that would be better. Other than that it seems nice.

I think that would go quite clearly against the Alliance's regularly-displayed preference for merit and aptitude over conventional qualities like race and gender. I think it would be a disservice to the very foundation and core ethos of the faction to do so. If the void elf does the job better, the void elf gets the job.
The leader of the Cohort is a Quel'dorei, for the record. However we do accept Ren'dorei into the guild, as Byrke said the Legion selects members on merit and their mindset. I wont lie, I did contemplate playing a human instead.
It was about time a Seventh Legion Guild showed up. count me in!
A good day of recruitment! If we keep up like this we'll have to close recruitment eventually!
Great to see all the new faces!
Indeed! Two more recruits joined us today ^^
The Drums of War sound once again! The Seventh will deploy to engage the Horde forces pushing through Ashenvale, the first strike belongs to us!

Recruitment will have to be done in the field in the coming days, if you come out to us please remember we're in the middle of a battlefield!
Awesome concept. Hopefully get to RP with you guys at some point (my character is Lordaeronian)
