The Talonguard is comprised out of battle-hardened, mounted Kaldorei-- Almost without exception. As the name might suggest, The Talonguard’s main defining point will be that they operate solely atop the feathered backs of their Hippogryph companions. As such, this military squadron is high in both value and demand; to that effect, The Talonguard is not aimed to become larger than the sum of its parts, per se. This will be a rather minimalistic endeavour in terms of roster count. The main itinerary of the squadron will be to assist the already present kaldorei and Gilnean host within Darkshore and its surrounding regions, executing shock combat maneuvers, high-risk operations and daring rescue missions. They will utilise their honed battle-prowess and superior aerial maneuverability to define the true strength of the kaldorei Sentinel Army. Ultimately, we will play a pivotal role in securing a lasting foothold within Darkshore and drive the Horde out of Elven land. As a guild, we will be focussing in more than one aspect of Role-Play. Both DM’ed events, PvE and RP-PVP will be adressed within The Talonguard.
More Details And The General Outline
I have to give many thanks to our Human counterpart for inspiring me with this particular idea. The Talonguard will be, in many ways, a kaldorei equivalent of their existing Order.
As stated above, The Talonguard will operate almost exclusively atop the back of their Hippogryphs. To that effect, I will have to place the first requirement, and it is a simple one: You need to have a Hippogryph mount.
Now, ideally you will have the Darkshore Campaign Hippogryph, but this is not neccesary altogether. Other existing Hippogryphs are also accepted-- Just not the Flameward Hippogryph. We don’t want a mount that’s literally caught fire… The insurance company would have a field day!
In terms of uniforms, yes, we do have one. Ideally we will all be using the Darkshore Warfront armaments. As to what tier pieces you want to use, that is up to you, mix and match all you like. We will be utilising the Darnassus Tabard for this as well.
All members of rank Sky Initiate and above will be required to wield both a bow and a main melee weapon. This effectively means that only three classes can be accepted as a Sky Initiate and above. These classes are: Hunter, Warrior and Rogue.
Other classes can of course apply for the rank of Sympathiser-- And any other non-Squadron role that may be brought to life in the very near future. Just don’t expect the Talonguard to accept your Ebon Blade Death Knight, Sanctioned Warlock or out-of-a-job Demon Hunter.
There is a Race restriction within the Talonguard. We will mainly be looking for Kaldorei (Night Elf) characters-- But, there is room for exception here and there in the form of the odd Gilnean or two, given the fact they have been harboured within teldrassil for quite a while. Your backstory and reasoning will have to be on-point for this to be accepted though.
As is the case with all Role-Play, your lore knowledge is important. This is especially true for Kaldorei Role-Play. I do not require you to know the ins and outs of every little detail of the Night Elf history, but when someone speaks to you of The War Of The Ancients or The War Of The Satyr, I don’t want your awnser to be “…What?”. Also, please for the love of Malorne, don’t claim to have been born on Teldrassil/in Darnassus. The now-crispy World tree was formed right after the events of the Third War, which would mean that your Kaldorei character is young-- VERY young.
I want to think this goes without saying, but the following rules apply within The Talonguard.
- No drama and/or arguements in the main guild chat. If you want to discuss a heated topic, do this with the parties involved through private messages.
- Keep a good reputation for the guild. I don’t want to catch someone lol’ing about in the middle of Stormwind or have their Kaldorei character suddenly pop up within Old Town.
- Have a basic grasp on the English language. I myself am not a native speaker and am prone to the odd spelling error or two, but you get the meaning behind this.
- Adhere to the Officers’ judgement. They have been implemented for a reason and with no small amount of thought prior to their appointment. On the other hand, if you have a complaint about an Officer and do not wish to confront them directly, speak to any of the other Officers - We will reseolve the issue to the best of our abilities.
Ranks within The Talonguard
Sympathiser : Those willing to join yet that are without prior experience in either mounted warfare, Hippogryph skillsets and/or do not wish to partake in combat as such. They will be the retainers, blacksmiths and quartermasters of the Talonguard. Further roles in this branche can be discussed.
Sky Initiate : Those found worthy to serve within the prestigious Squadron yet that lack a certain amount of experience and/or need further assessment shall be granted this rank, to signify their affiliation with the Guard, yet they are not, as of yet, a fully fledged member.
Sky Sentinel : Those who prove themselves as a Sky Initiate or individuals that have shown prior experience befitting of their status and desired rank shall be fully indoctrinated within the Talonguard and carry the rank of Sky Sentinel - A trained elite unit of the kaldorei.
Sky Chaser : More experienced and lethal than their Sentinel Brothers and Sisters, Sky Chasers are the seasoned veterans of the Talonguard and have flown true for a long time, serving the kaldorei and delivering just vengeance upon their opponents. They are required to oversee the Sky Initiates’ progress and guide both them and the Sentinels to victory in battle. In the Human military ranking system, this could be related to an NCO position.
Sky Lieutenant : The Sky Lieutenants are individual leaders within the Talonguard, overseeing the overall day-to-day business that goes on within the Squadron and aid the Sky Captain in their duties. They have the authority to lead smaller Squadrons into battle and seperate missions-- Should the situation require this approach. They are expected to train the Sentinels further and help them evolve into Sky Chashers over time. Once more, in the Human ranking structure, this is the first CO position.
Sky Captain : Second-In-Command of the Talonguard and responsible for the safety and effectiveness of its Riders, the Sky Captain is the direct right hand of the Wing Commander and speaks with their authority when they themselves are not rightfully present. The highest rank and CO position one can aim to achieve within the Talonguard.
Wing Commander : The person in direct command of the Talonguard. The Wing Commander takes council from their fellow Officers and ultimately aims to lead the Squadron to glorious victory-- And redemption.
After all this, do you still require more information or simply wish to join the glorious winged Squadron of The Talonguard?
