I can’t be the only one feeling trolled and out-immersed with a SHOVEL from the new Dungeon Karazhan Crypts being stronger than THE iconic Legendary Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros.
Atleast make the Karazhan weapon look like a red version the axe from WOTLK [Bryntroll, the Bone Arbiter] or upgrade Sulfuras to be stronger.
One shovel to rule them all …
Not just this, how they’ve left Thunderfury behind is absolutely horrid and the devs deserve a slap for it.
A damn quest item from BWL is stronger than a Legendary by 20% in PvE…
That some people consider Sulfuras and Thunderfury legendary in SoD is the real funny thing here… It’s kinda like all the Scrub… ahem Scarab Lords who got their willy deflated when they noticed everyone and their dog riding such a mount, due to how much easier it was to acquire.
Now enjoy your shovel before the Scarlet Crusade raid releases a spoon that will automatically replace KT weapons. Welcome to the live-WoW roller-coaster gearing system, now in SoD! Everyone wanted it(NOT). Enjoy!
If you played videogames a lot then you should know that a shovel called “Ol’ Reliable” will have quite a high chance to be better than “Epic sword of universal annihilation”
Well, yeah? That’s how item progression works.
The point of Karazhan Crypts was so that people can get some great catch-up gear without having to AQ40 for a month before being ready for Naxxramas.
If we’re going to talk about power creep though, we should mention that KC is harder than MC ever was, even at H3.
It’s also worth noting that Sulfuras was always a trash legendary. It was garbage in Classic too, and peoplein Vanilla only wanted it for the orange text; nobody used a 2h in PVE and in PVP BRE was superior.
The shovel isn’t even that good, it is a decent catch up weapon.
If you want to complain about weapons, what about ClobberClub being almost BiS for DW and Tank warriors with the best upgrade being only a 1-2% DPS increase in BiS gear.
Or what about ClobberClub Duel Wield out performing the best 2H weapons for Fury Warriors basically killing 2H Fury play (Taking the rare Blade of Inquisition for a DPS loss!).
Itemization this phase is 100% based around Paladins, warriors got screwed.
Sulfuras was already out scaled in BWL.
Blizzard need to adjust the item power when new phases releases
They could have made the legendary part of Sulfuras and Thunderfury a special effect that converted a significant portion of physical damage into fire or nature, depending on the weapon.
This way you would have had a scaling power for these two weapons for the whole of SoD.
But sadly Sod is going the route of live, where you throw every single item as soon as a new tier launches.
Why are you surprised? SoD is pretty much like WoTLK but in Azeroth, terms of design.
Thunderfury was BiS throughout all of Classic because people were so weak, so the proc added a ton of extra threat. That extra threat is no longer required, tanks don’tlack the threat any more.
Due to having more abilities and bonuses, pure stats are just better.
Also, this can’t be understated enough;
Sulfuras was NEVER good.
Sulfuras was always considered a meme weapon.
here’s an idea blizzard could consider:
allow people who own hand of rag and/or thunderfury to upgrade them to a “level 2” through a quest or something, so they can keep up with the absurd upgrades introduced in this patch (and the next).
i made my hand of rag on my shaman in phase 4 as soon as i could (took me like a week to get the mats which… lmao) and since then, it has collected dust in my bag for about 90% of my /played along with all my other enhancement gear since ele tank is just far superior in every way… it even does comparable or even better dps than pure dps classes/specs.
but hey, enhancement shamans were running double rockbiter back in phase 2, so its only fair that they’re useless for the remainder of SOD. (btw. they never even bothered to revert the rockbiter weapon AP nerf after making it un-dualwield-able lol).
Well if it’s any consolation, my feral tank staff from Karazhan Crypts, which seems to be the best in slot for this phase, looks disturbingly similar to a staff I once got as a quest reward from killing thistleboars and mangy nightsabers in Teldrassil!
To be fair even though so many people have it now, it’s still better than when it was Streamer / Guild Master exclusive
Blizzard hate enhancement shaman, just give me one expansion where they were top dps. Here, they were fine in ST phase and probably MC, and that was it. Back to the bottom.
yep, fun not allowed.
ironically, paladin is the master burst class now, and the burst class (enhancement shaman) is now noodle dps class…
like, the whole point of playing enhancement in vanilla is the big RNG numbers, but not only can shamans not do that as well as paladins, but paladins get the ability to control their “RNG” bursts, unlike shamans, and they don’t even necessarily need windfury buff to do so.
