In the earliest days of mankind's long rise to power, there was an Empire. From the grey cliffs of Strom, King Thoradin had set forth to unite his kin, and to the chiefs of each tribe across the lands bequeathed to them by Tyr he gave two options: serve willingly or be destroyed. Thus the Arathi Empire grew, reaching the cursed and sacred lands of Tirisfal in the north. There, the emperor-king encountered a tribe that revered Tyr and the self-sacrifice which had bought humanity it's freedom and safety.

Noble and knightly as he was, Lordain, chief of that tribe, came to serve the King as his general, alongside the progenitor of the future line of Arathi kings, Ignaeus Trollbane. Together they campaigned against the Amani tribes to the east and lifted the trolls' siege on the elven kingdom of Quel'thalas, and it was when the forces of Jintha turned upon the armies of Arathor that General Lordain gave himself to martyrdom. To buy his king's newly-trained magi the time they needed to obliterate Jintha's horde, Lordain and five-hundred of his knights sacrificed themselves to hold the forest trolls at bay.

In doing so, the Arathi Empire was able to wreak such terrible magics upon the trolls that they never recovered, and so men and elves alike knew peace for centuries to come. In his honour, the lands of Tirisfal, and the great kingdom that would rise there in the years to come, was named Lordaeron, and the sacrifice of Lordain and his five-hundred few became a heroic tale that many could only dream to emulate.

* * *

Nearly three millenia after Lordain's noble sacrifice, the demonic armies of the Burning Legion descended upon Azeroth. In the face of oblivion, four men of the League of Arathor gathered in the Sanctum of Stromgarde and swore to live - and die - by the legacy of Lordain, and by the legacy of Tyr before him. Thus the Holy Order of Lordain was formed.

Across all the nations of Azeroth has the Holy Order waged war against the enemies of mankind and the enemies of the Light. At times they have been little more the curious adventurers, delving into the eldritch depths of half-buried desert cities and the icy cliffs at the roof of the world. At others, their gleaming and blessed banner has stood at the vanguard of the Alliance's armies, ashen in the shadow of Teldrassil and paving the way into the heart of Tirisfal itself.

The Holy Order of Lordain stands as a beacon of faith and order in the wartorn world. Tenuously abiding to the armistice, they stand at the fringe of the Alliance's vast territories, anathema to all that would dare to disturb the unity of mankind within, and anathema to all that would dare to raise their banners against it without...

Faith and War

The Holy Order of Lordain is a pro-Alliance, anti-Horde guild formed in 2016. Since then, it has been at the forefront of many of the server's RPPVP campaigns, participating in over thirty campaigns of various sizes since its inception. The guild is based around the idea of holy crusaders and questing knights, putting emphasis on chivalry and lawfulness combined with absolute faith in the Holy Light and self-sacrifice for the greater good.

It draws inspiration from many sources, historical or otherwise, but places the canon and current lore of the Warcraft setting first and foremost. There is an emphasis on equality between all members of the knightly brotherhood, no matter what 'class', drawing on inspiration from Arthurian legend and other real-life mythologies.

The Order has always stood out against many other holy sects in it's interpretation of the Holy Light's teachings, rejecting neutrality as a failure to protect the innocent. Whilst the Order abides to the current armistice, they do not hesitate to respond to Horde provocation, quietly awaiting the war to end all wars and ensuring that the Alliance lives to see it through.

Roleplay

The guild enjoys a variety of events, both DM and RPPVP events, with many interactions with other guilds and individuals on the server. As of 2025, the guild uses RPToolkit for its events, an addon developed for the guild by Ortellus. It also makes use of an extension to RPToolkit available only to members of the guild, implementing features such as a progression tracker (see below), an achievement system, quest log and dossier containing a log of all the different beasts and characters that your character encounters during the time in the Order!

Over the years, the guild has accumulated a wealth of in-character resources - holy scriptures and stories to cement their interpretation of the Holy Light, which straddles the line between the canonical interpretations. The Order has always aimed to balance zealotry with the demands of the Grand Alliance, often straying from the knife edge that permits them to wage a direct war against the most powerful servants of the Void.

Progression

Character progression is an integral part of the Holy Order of Lordain, which the guild's events, campaigns and structure promotes. All members of the Order progress towards joining the 'sworn brotherhood', the righteous and fearless crusaders that have earned the respect and the trust of their fellow men. During this time, they have the chance to find or forge powerful weapons and armour to aid them on their holy quests.

Experienced and inexperienced alike, all aspiring members of the order are put through their paces. During their time in the Order, its members embark upon gruelling pilgrimages, single-handedly bring down dangerous and blasphemous foes, and demonstrate their unwavering committment to the Holy Light above all else. Members can expect 1-on-1 events as part of this progress on their path to becoming a Crusader of the Holy Order.

For some, service to the Holy Order is a path to knighthood. Many of the Order's members have received their titles for their service to the Light and have given themselves to its service by oath.

Recruitment

To maintain some of the human-centric aspects of the guild, the Order is currently only accepting humans. The classes we accept are: paladin, priest, warrior, mage. Rogues and hunters may be accepted on a case-by- case basis.

The Order accepts all manner of characters into its fold. Some of the characters we have recruited previously range from old Silver Hand knights and veterans from Honor Hold, to deserters and penitent members of the Scarlet Crusade seeking atonement for their sins. Characters in the Order are expected to be strong-willed and brave, more than anything else, even if they are not the ideal Knight of the Order when the first join. This is certainly the place for your character to learn what it means to be a faithful knight!

The Order has a uniform that serves as a baseline for something more personalised, at the discretion of the officers. For examples, check out some of our members' armoury pages.

Upcoming Campaign: The Fate of Hyperion

Prior to the discovery of the Dragon Isles, deep within Uldaman, the Holy Order discovered a secret vault said to contain a great weapon of the Titans: the Eye of Archaedas. The power cores required to open the vault were sent to the far reaches of Azeroth in the hands of the Titanforged generals Themis and Hyperion. However, the true history and purpose of the weapon remains a mystery.

Although the Order acquired the power core of Themis years ago, the power core of Hyperion has long eluded them and their allies in the Explorer's League. However, a recent expedition in Uldum has revealed the possibility that the power core may yet exist. Hot on the trail of a now-defunct adventuring guild, the Order prepares to venture to Kalimdor once more to find the lost power core, into the wild lands of the west, where their many rivals watch and wait...
Starting on 1st June, the Order will be embarking upon their next major quest, a several-week campaign in Kalimdor to continue one of our longest-standing plotlines. As part of an initiative to introduce new faces to the guild, as well as introduce RPToolkit (as it was intended) to the wider community, we are opening up the campaign to a limited number of people outside the guild, with relaxed restrictions on the types of characters that can join us.

The character you join on might be a temporary one, or it might be one that you wish to join the Order properly on - the choice is yours, but priority will be given to those whose characters can (and will) join the Order. To maintain the feel of an 'Order of Lordain campaign', however, we will not be taking along warlocks, death knights, demon hunters or evokers.

A former aspirant, Sir Oakheart, rejoined the Holy Order this evening - then, the ordersmen set out on a quest into the Swamp of Sorrows, where they were ambushed by a troll effigy, though no match for the crusaders.

As I said above, we’ve a busy few weeks and will be attending the upcoming Ghosts of the Hinterlands campaign, hope to see some familiar faces attending!

Another effigy has been faced, this one set as an ambush by two trolls while the Holy Order searched for a missing party of workers, and it proved more dreadful than the previous. The worst part? It seemed immune to holy powers…
Even then, faith endures, the goal is set, the way is paved. Just as it sits in the middle of the swamps, inviting all to gaze upon it, the Temple of Atal’Hakkar and the trolls residing in it await.
The darkness within must be expunged before any foul ritual could be conducted, no matter the supposed imperviousness to the divine.
May the Light have mercy, for we shall have none for the wicked.

The Swamp of Sorrows trip is fun so far and the RPT (RP Toolkit) addon shows the strength it can have the further it gets developed.

We welcome the magi Herawerd back as he rejoins the Holy Order, 'thus putting a hold on mage recruitment for the time being.

Still a busy few weeks ahead of us, we finish our quest in the Swamp of Sorrows tomorrow night, before returning to back to Stormwind for a brief respite - then we travel northward to Stromgarde!

The Order has arrived in Stromgarde ahead of their confrontation with the Horde in the Hinterlands next week! Although initially pursuing a diplomatic and peaceful solution to the on-going situation, they stand ready to meet their enemies with a closed fist rather than an open palm. Feel free to find us in Refuge Pointe over the weekend!

The cool dudes of Lordain restored their tower and now chill, while their poor Marshal is confined to desk duty. Next week on Dragon Ball Lordain, the long awaited beach episode! (Aka, more horror and sand)

The Fate of Hyperion has got off to a start today! Landing in the port of Gadgetzan, the Order was able to track down their target in the nick of time. Sebastian Peatfoot, the last member of the adventuring guild which saw the power core of Hyperion years ago, was saved from a murderous fate in the deep desert. In thanks, he revealed to the Order that more members of his old guild had survived their fateful encounter with the Knights of the Black Star, though they had been forever changed by their traumatic undertaking.

Never too late to join us, so if you want to get in on this epic of a quest, do so now!
